I think the hippopotamus line will appear next week in the anime. It's one of my favourite lines from Wano. I hope they don't delete it.

And, yeah, it seems like the anime is being fairly faithful to the manga. Kid and Law's finale stretched over two chapters, so I don't think we'll see Gear 5 until a few episodes yet. I love the sass. AND Izou <3

The anime stuck pretty close.

No caps (from the anime), but I did want to say, Ikkaku with a sword! I don't think she featured in the manga caps (could be wrong), so I'm glad she's in the anime, and the new Kid Pirates got voiced too. Anyway. I loved these chapters, and I think the anime is doing them well.

Ooh, also, Big Mom knows how to smack talk almost as well as Doflamingo.

Okay so, chapter 1039... time for Kid and Law to show out--

The title of the chapter is: The Main Act

(which to be honest tricked me into thinking we were getting more Luffy and Kaido, thanks Oda!)

First of all, I think it's relevant to mention that Momonosuke thought he heard someone calling for him, but I'm too dumb right now to figure out who that could be OH WAIT WHAT IF IT'S ZUNISHA????? WHAT IF HE HEARD ZUNISHA??

you know what's funny? In my last post I said that Kid always seems to wait for Law to move before doing so himself? THANK YOU ODA FOR CONFIRMING THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT HE DOES

Also I'm dying at Kid saying he's got a 'Trump card' and Law answeing with Oh? What comes after a bull attack? An elephant? A Hippo?

ALSO!! Big Mom is literally insane!! Her bones got broken but she could just exchange some life to heal them...

the yonko's always have so much to say though, like big mom didn't have to say all that 💀 💀 this is why you need to get beaten though, big mom, ya'll yonkos have had your time to shine you're getting too old now

I also think everyone needs to stop sleeing on Big Mom because this attacks looks really damn cool

chapter 1039: the main attraction—kidlaw snark and snark again & new vs old

Okay, looks like Law’s done something that will either help of hinder Yamato and Momo and Zunesha in their attempt to stop Onigashima from blowing up, and more so, to stop it from landing on and blowing up the capital of Wano.

But more about that later.

So, yeah, remember how I wrote about Momo staying back in Zou to have a chat with Zunesha in chapter 822?

well, the conversation seems to have borne fruit.

But on to our two bickering biddies! Oda’s gotta love Kid and Law. Really, I don’t care what the dudebros say, and maybe he is pandering to fans, but the truly faithful have been waiting since 2008, right? Again, it’s not my main ship, but it’s one of them and it is fun. So, Kid built this:

and it flattened Big Mom after she’d been shocked through with Law’s shock wille. The crews are:

fearful (Beast Pirates), and ecstatic (Kid and Heart Pirates, and Pandaman has defected to Kid’s crew from the looks of things!). (Someone blew the pic up.It’s a t-shirt design. Law’s not the only one with a thing for bears!). I’m not sure who got blown away last week, but I’m sure they’re okay this week. Shock Wille left Big Mom

with her bones broken from the inside.

So it’s pretty effective (except she survived), and Kid pummels her once all her structure is broken, I guess, which is what Law is complaining about below (and what the page above actually opens with ):

He’s also got something important (and ominous) to tell Kid (so we should get some good Law angst. He’s been doing pretty well, stamina-wise, this arc) 

But Kid ain’t listening, and Big Mom attacks them (the Master Saber frame above) before Law finishes his sentence.

So, they flee, and Big Mom is just amazing, and Kid does go first (though I don’t think it’s premeditated, but these two work well in tandem, despite the bickering). And it seems that

the bull that Kid created is going to gore her, but she is tired out, but still pretty strong because she’s dragged in energy from elsewhere to heal herself (as an aside, why don’t the flunkies fight one another? I guess the main attraction is just too compelling). Also, the S(outh) and the N(orth) of Kid’s power is cool. So Big Mom actually moves the whole tower she’s pushed up against to block, and she’s pretty angry 

and unleashes:

Mother’s Misery! A “living” attack (read the TL/N there. It’s interesting). So, rather than targeting the attack, Law focuses on the attacker:

Law being a pesky little gnat again. Like, heh, what can he do, right? Played out his hand already (as an aside, does BM call Kid, Kid or Eustass?). SO Law’s got a very, very, very,

long sword. And on the page (or right side of this double spread) we can see how this awakened power works:

So, has he accessed energy from the earth’s core to fry her from the inside? Any ideas, please let me know in the comments. AND, first of all, bolero hat survived. Second of all, CAPTAIN! You wouldn’t let Zoro kill himself, so don’t you go kicking the bucket, although, that’s why he had a chat to Eustass who was maybe listening at a subliminal level (or just decided to follow orders. It’s not really an order), cos:

while it seems that Law’s opened up the portal to both heaven and hell (and maybe  the full moon? Bepo! or did Momonosuke do that?), he’s also used all of his power, and it’s doubtful he’d survive whatever Misery’s got in store for him. Can’t shamble himself out of this one, so he “orders”

Love Law’s feral grin. We don’t see it that often. And is Kid accessing the portals/energy or is it not connected. I’m not very visual, so I really appreciate any explanations in the comments. Okay, I just read the T/N on the next panel. The kanji reads electric-magnetic canon on Kid’s weapon. Perfect fusion. I wonder if Oda’s wife is a KidLaw shipper (considering Law is her favourite, apparently!).

WOW! Law’s basically been saying the new generation is fucking everything up since Punk Hazard, and how. Oda delivered. For me, anyway. That attack  (Kid’s) is like a supercharged electro too, right? Like Law’s counter-shock, but also the Minks’ attack. Cannot wait now that the moon seems to be shining into the castle (and air. Lotsa fire in the castle).

As another side note, how far do you think Law and Luffy might have got if Luffy hadn’t spent all that time not beating up Bellamy? 

Okay, gonna include this one too, cos Law looks pretty cool when not dwarfed by Big Mom. She haki-punches the hell out of him too.
