Aware, Alert, and Addled | Suzu Koyanagi | Prologue | OPEN
Just because one’s eyes were closed does not mean that they were completely and utterly unaware of what atmosphere was floating around them. It could mean that they were less mindful of their current situation, with one of their senses not being in use for the time being. Usually, that was the case where one allowed their thoughts to slowly drift away, or allowed their bodies to relax and be at ease, at least for a little while. Usually, that was a time to be free of any worries. When they were also including factors such as the background noise coming from the air conditioners, it was easier to be lulled by the monotonous voices and sounds around you, and drift away...
However, in Suzu Koyanagi’s case, such a state of trance could not be achieved at this moment. She was still awake, even with her eyes closed. Memories were rushing into her brain quicker than a rapid flowing down the stream. Memories that were most certainly...distasteful to return to. These were memories that confused her; there were voices around her slowly beginning to emerge into her brain. All of these factors confronted her conscious and said, “This isn’t good, wake up, now.”
And so, she woke up.
The white-haired woman took a few glances around her, seeing her classmates- classmates? No, she’s never met these people before. She saw that they were inside some kind of classroom, one that she couldn’t seem to recognize right off the bat...or at all. Then again, her vision was still a bit hazy, even with her black-rimmed glasses on. It seemed that she was still adjusting to her surroundings, from the way she blinked her eyes rapidly to let herself become more aware.
As she stood up, Suzu realized that she still had her heels on. This was not an issue, at least, not as much of an issue as to trying to open up the doors. Those doors wouldn’t budge an inch, signifying that she - and these students she was in the room with - were locked in. The hypnotherapist took a deep breath in, and slowly exhaled, before analyzing the situation for herself. Okay, the doors leading to their escape wouldn’t open, they suddenly appeared with little to no recollection of how they were brought here, and they didn’t have their belongings on them. Not exactly the most...ideal of situations, but for the time being, she would have to stick to figuring out who these people were, and finding a way out.
Thus, the woman started to walk around the classroom, looking for more ways out. If there was anything she could rely on for receiving a confrontation, it was to find a common ground...and Suzu was damn sure they had at least one.
Shift Chapter 5 page 01 The start of a new chapter!
You had all witnessed the first trial and the very first punishment - a twisted facsimile of justice that left nobody satisfied and the group noticeably smaller. And so it was that the party scarce noticed the elevator doors clicking open and everyone walking in until all fourteen of you were stood inside in absolute silence. The lift rose, and rose, and rose for what felt like days. Eventually, the doors slid open, and...
