Chatarunga This is one of my favorite asanas! 1. Start in plank 2. Shoulders over hands 3. Belly to the spine 4. Long spine 5. Elbows in close to the ribs 6. Grip the floor 7. I loved working on this scapular elevation and depression sequence in #aerialyogaactive with @julia.graziani last week! It wakes up the lower traps, serratus anterior and the whole shoulder stabilizing team that take the pressure of those overworking upper traps! We are pulling, rather than pushing so it’s great for #shoulders that do a lot #hansdstands #planks and #chatarunga - it feels like an upside down handstand push up and is a great warmup for handstands (or to do between sets). The best part is you start standing on the ground so you can start to build strength and awareness gradually - Julia has her knees bent and floating, I kept my tip toes on the floor. This is also a great way to work on the #gripstrength we need so many #aerialyoga moves! Aerial yoga Active is on Thursday mornings at 9.30-10.30am - it’s a strengthening class but there are options for all levels - and it’s a great place for beginners to build good awareness and alignment habits!!
