when i was younger i had a really bad fear of danny devito when i was going to sleep so my older brother gave me a watch that he set to like 8 hours ahead so that it was always daytime on the watch when i was asleep and he told me it would confuse danny devito and he would think it was daytime and get scared of the sun and leave me alon
Your brother is the best
Who the fuck changed this from vampires to Danny devito
the real question is why I was completely ready to accept that this person had a debilitating childhood fear of Danny Devito

Anyhow that’s why it’s called the INFINITY train because this journey is never ending. At least until you die but that’s why we had Simon’s fate in contrast to Grace who gets to keep growing, which Owen himself even commentated on.
Have you guys seen that clip

Happy Pride to Kermit the Frog, questioning king
happy pride month 🏳️🌈
the "who is suyin's dad" debate resurfacing is so funny to me because there's literally a character in the comics that looks very similar to her with clear romantic romantic tension with toph and yet the prevailing theory is still sokka for some reason
happy pride
I've seen this clip many times, but never really appreciated the power of "what was her problem?" Just casually assuming that lesbians come in a wide variety of shapes and being inclusive. As a transbian who is probably still closer to Homer shaped than to my ideal, that's huge!
Me this weekend
Once when I was in undergrad, someone described something as “problematic” in class and our professor was like, “That’s cool, but ‘problematic’ doesn’t really mean anything. It means that the thing you’re describing has a problem, and in and of itself that’s not bad. Art, especially, should always have problems, or else it’s not interesting and not art, either. It sounds like you’re trying to say that this is bad, but you don’t want to say ‘bad.’ Is that right?”
So from then on whenever one of us called something problematic, he would make us talk it out until we could name the “bad” thing we were hinting at. In this particular class, 7/10 it was some type of oppression, and the remainder was like, “I’m uncomfortable because this is very new/confusing/pushing boundaries that made me feel safe.”
Once we stopped calling things “problematic” and stopping at that, class got way more interesting and... we all had to say, like, “that’s racist” or “that’s misogynistic” or “ew capitalism gross” out loud, which a lot of us had never done in a classroom before. Or we had to be like, “Uhhh... I’m not sure what’s so bad?” and confront our own beliefs and that was maybe even more useful.
Anyway. Whenever I see the word problematic, I can’t help but think of this professor being like, “Good starting point, now let’s get specific.” I think when we have to commit to saying “that’s ___” it requires a lot more careful thought about the truth and impact and complexities of whatever we’re claiming. Sometimes there really is some bullshit afoot, and also sometimes it’s art, and it should be full of problems, because that’s what art is.
btw it's so fucking stupid you can be anxious physically in your body even after you've decided mentally you don't care. I'm supposed to be in charge here

"kataangs only think of katara as aang's property!!" "zutaras only think of katara as zuko's property!" hey since we care so much about katara's agency maybe don't centralize all discussions about her character around two men
so I had an interesting time yesterday
greek mythology is fun because there's a child soldier who uses the corpse of an infant to beat the king of troy to death in a cold-hearted act of revenge and he's also named after his dad's drag persona
I’m pretty sure I stopped reading The Iliad before that point…
the character, neoptolemus (or pyrrhus, named after "pyrrha" which was achilles' name while disguised as a woman in the island of skyros), doesn't actually appear in the iliad. mainly, i think, he appears in the posthomerica. him killing priam is in a ton of different sources but descriptions vary. the "killing him with the corpse of an infant" thing is just the most graphic one i've seen.
