I find that it's so unnecessarily hard to explain that chronic illnesses and pain are... chronic. People seem to not understand the chronic part. Whilst I understand that some people recover, a lot of us never will and people seem unable to grasp that...
People who've never experienced being chronically ill will never truly understand it and it fucking hurts.
LMFAOOOOO some pathetic fossil in my neighborhood took a pic of our car and posted it on the town’s gossip facebook forum 💀 Apparently we’ve been ”using the handicap parking space for too long and taking parking away from other disabled people”, completely ignoring the fact that the space is FOR MY APARTMENT COMPLEX AND I HAVE A PERMIT AND THERE’S ANOTHER HANDICAP SPACE BESIDES THE ONE WE USE
For every disabled parking space in existence, there’s always, ALWAYS, at least one able-bodied white knight stationed in the bushes. The funniest thing about them is that they don’t even care about disabled people, they just love feeling great about themselves and showing others how ”good” they are for ”protecting the weak”. These geniuses attack, harass and vandalize anyone for using those parking spaces, especially disabled people who they don’t deem worthy of the permit. These bitches are so stupid someone help them 😭 GROWN ASS MAN!!!
People only have so much patience for those of us with chronic illnesses, chronic pain, and or mental health difficulties.
At the beginning there is so much support (or at least more support) but when they realise you're not recovering as quickly as they'd like... you get avoided, isolated, told you're exaggerating, etc. They seldom think about how those of us with chronic issues feel. How overwhelming it is to deal with everything day in and day out. There is so much anxiety, depression, grief, etc when dealing with chronic issues regardless of what they are.
If you're even more isolated because people refuse to see how much you're struggling or you're not recovering "fast enough" for the people around you just know you're not alone! There are so many of us in the same boat too

One thing I'm exhausted of hearing is people thinking I'm not "trying" to get better when my disabilities disable me. I cannot push past my limitations because then I cannot function for any length of time after, but because I used to be able-bodied they assume I'm just not trying and it makes me so angry.
It's like people cannot fathom someone becoming disabled...
Trying to remind myself that flare-ups are not failures. Trying to remind myself that it doesn't mean I'm doing anything wrong
Guys having any sort of medical condition as a black woman is like running into a brick wall over and over and over again when it comes to getting help 😪
