Portugal in WW1 — Battle of the Lys, 1918 (Part I)
Portugal’s involvement in World War I, though often less highlighted than that of other Allied nations, carried substantial weight and tragic costs, particularly at the Battle of La Lys on 9 April 1918. Portugal entered the war as a response to German colonial ambitions that threatened its African territories, including Angola and Mozambique, where skirmishes had already erupted by 1914. However, the Portuguese Expeditionary Corps (CEP), the main force deployed to Europe, would come to bear the heaviest losses on the Western Front, notably in Flanders, where their role was both politically motivated and strategically influenced by Allied demands.

Fic Idea: Jegulus & WolfStar Nobles 1919 Au
putting this as "Fic Idea" instead of "Fic Scrap" because hopefully I'll end up writing it after all
I imagine putting this into a post-WWI context (1918,1919,1920), to allow for the historical queerness I love (lmagine I Adored You Madly but 20 years later) while allowing for smaller staff in the country side and poor nobles, as a lot of them had financial difficulties after the war (because their staff and workers died). Think Downton Abbey late Season 2.
Regulus and Sirius are left alone in one of the smaller Black manors with no one but a few new staff members for a few months, while their parents go to France.
Whenever this happens, Regulus gets to be Regulus, as the new staff members typically don't know that he's supposed to be a "good little Lady." (you know I'm a sucker for historical queerness, and the history of gender & trans studies pre-WW2)
The two new staff members this time are
Remus, a handsome boy from the countryside who is used to hard labour and fieldwork. he was injured in the war, now forced to go on a cane, so he tries to get indoor work and make money by working for the Blacks. he's handling cooking duties and gardening.
and James, the heir to a noble family recently fallen from grace and losing all their money, forcing him to live and work as a commoner. He's handling most other duties like brining tea, making drinks for the brothers, running errands etc.
Of course there is also their eldery Butler Mr Kreacher, who knows about Regulus and is in chrage of hiring and firing these staff members, thus ensuring no one learns too much about Regulus and nothing gets out. He's still doing most of the butler tasks, but James steps in for things he's getting too old and jittery for.
Anyway, Regulus just wants to just be himself, read books, wear men's clothes and have a nice time with his brother and the Butler.
Sirius on the other hand is always looking for adventure, and immediately sets his eyes on Remus. He. Must. Have. Him. in every way there is.
James, who keeps his real connection to nobility a secret, is the first to figure out who Regulus really is. he could use this information to blackmail the family and rescue his own or he could blackmail Regulus into marrying him, rescuing his family with his dowery, but instead he is fascinated with him and falls head over heels in love. (They get married anyway and James does rescue his family with the dowery)
(I'd have to flash out some details about Sirius's and James's time in the war I guess, but I'd make this a shorter thing anyway so...)
Anyway, what do you think?
