Under the Hazy Moonlight ✨
Today, I'm reminded again of this summer's SBBB and how much fun it was to participate in something like that as a group.
For this event, I wrote Under the Hazy Moonlight. It’s a feudal Japan AU, with ninjas, honor, shadows… and the red thread trope woven through every scene. Writing it has been a challenge and a joy, and I’m so proud of how it came together.
I was lucky enough to be paired with the incredibly talented homokommari, who created stunning artwork that captures the spirit of the fic so beautifully. Truly, their lines and colors gave new breath to the story—I still can’t believe I got to collaborate with someone so skilled. They used the gouache technique, and the colors allowed them to capture both the cold and darkness, as well as the cozy warmth of the interiors and the devastating fires. Please, go look at their art, it deserves all the love!
And of course, this wouldn’t exist without my amazing beta, purpleyuan, who guided me with patience and sharp insight at every step. You can't imagine his ability to organize ideas and find natural and precise ways to say things!
This Big Bang was more than just writing, it was an exchange of passion, stories and culture.
