I'm glad you're safe! And now it's down to a cat 2, which is still going to bring a ton of rain since it's a slow moving storm, but at least the wind won't be as bad! (Though that's what we had with Irma and the flooding was miserable)

So I've been knitting and crocheting for a bit and after seeing all your critroll panels I've finally gotten up the courage to learn to double knit! I'm working on a little banner of the Horde crest from WoW and I'm starting to get the hang of it and eventually I want to figure out a good size for panels and make a blanket with a bunch of logos and icons from all the games I like! So thanks for always posting what you're working on and giving other courage and inspiration! ^.^

That’s wonderful! Double knitting is so much fun (once your fingers figure out how to manage two strands of yarn at once, anyway; that part really does take getting used to...) and it’s ideal for colorwork where you need large sections of a row in the same color, since there’s no need to carry a strand along the back like in fair isle, *or* where you have to change colors frequently, since you don’t have to have separate pieces of yarn for each section of color like for intarsia. And the double-thick fabric makes a great blanket panel! (At least, I assume it will once I finish all these and sew them together...heh.) 

I’ve been getting about 12x12″ panels at my gauge, with worsted yarn on size 6 needles, 51 stitches and 78 rows, but of course the size you get depends on your gauge so starting with your banner you’re knitting now you should be able to figure up how many stitches to cast on for any size of panel you want. How in the world do you stay so calm? I've got someone telling me that they hate Liam because he shot the kett corpse on habitat 7 (after the kett butcher Kirkland and open fire on Ryder and Liam) and how terrible he endangered the whole pathfinder mission because of it and it just makes me want to scream. They say they don't hate Liam for no reason but that sounds like a pretty feeble excite to cover up for no reason and it's making me want to scream

Oh yeah, I discussed that here too and said Liam wasn’t judged fairly by the fandom. I said the scene on Habitat 7 was a moment of pure “rage and pain.” He was suffering. Kirkland offered to surrender and they didn’t care. If I was in that situation, I would be in pain and enraged too. And here about the difference between Tempest!Liam and Nomad!Liam because someone said Liam acts like a jerk in the Nomad. That one bothers me a lot because it’s always used as the reason why the fandom should hate him… But people who rant about his behavior in the Nomad always conveniently forget that the Nomad banters follow a specific structure. They all have a form of conflict that gets resolved at the very end, including the Liam ones. He doesn’t end the banter with Vetra and Peebee as mortal enemies. Quite the opposite. He also gets subtly called out by Jaal in the Nomad and accepts the reprimand. In his banter with him, it’s clear Liam doesn’t fully understand everything but he asks questions, he wants to learn. It’s all positive!!!!! 

I also wrote in my Liam/Peebee meta:

Liam is all about the right things, the right reasons, the need to change and make people’s lives better. He wants the Initiative to be exactly how he wants it to be. His need leads him to put the Initiative - the thing he wants to protect and idolizes - in danger.

And I put that in a specific context because his loyalty mission makes him face some hard truths, which in turn leads him to a much better place.He finally understands that the best intentions in the world don’t equal the best actions. That alone solves a lot of problems. He also recognizes that he doesn’t get to tell people why they should be in the Initiative. 

And Liam struggles but at no point is he a bad person or someone who wants to hurt others. He starts and ends the game with a good heart. He’s obsessed with the community because he has a need to help others. Everything he does in Andromeda is focused on that. He just needs to learn some stuff along the way… Which is pretty cool, right? You would think people would be happy about that since it’s so realistic but nooooo. They hate that he’s not perfect right away. Makes little sense to me because it’s what makes him interesting. 

And one thing I do admire about Liam is that he admits he made mistakes, is sorry for it and is working on doing better in the future. That’s not something that a lot of people are willing to do, irl or in fiction.The banter with him and all of his actions in MEA show important character growth. 

So yeah. The hate is fucked up. I notice how eager people are to blame Liam for his missteps (when truthfully, it’s not that bad!) but will defend to the death characters who have done far worse.

So idk if you've ever heard of/played any of the Mass Effect series, but I feel like you'd like the turians from there (I know they're aliens and not monsters technically, but 7ft+ tall and spiky with teeth and claws). A lot pops up on Tumblr for turians, Garrus Vakarian, Vetra Nyx, or Shakarian (and you can romance the aliens in the games!)

I haven’t played Mass Effect personally, but I love the aliens I see. I love looking at them, they’re all so lovely.
