lol jongho anon from earlier here. didn’t mean to give you anxiety 😭 i just wanted to share my thoughts on how i perceive jongho. but i guess i’m not as good as you in articulating my thoughts (which is why I’ll probably never write meta off anon) 😭

NO no don't go! Share more thoughts! I meant that we should be anxious about Jongho together! (*Though I guess that isn't a terribly enticing invitation). I liked your thoughts on Jongho!! WRITE MORE META! There is not enough Ateez meta on Tumblr! Anon! Anon?? Come baaaaaaaack~~~~
I scream into the void of the internet, secure in the knowledge that basically nobody reblogs my posts. Sure, there are a few of you, but very few of you are interested in what I have to say.
So, when I need to get something off my chest because I'm having big emotions and the person that I'm having them at was so unkind as to be completely reasonable about everything so that there's no way I can unload on him without being the bad guy, I ask myself: if I scream into the void of the hellsite about this, will it come back to bite me?
And this time, the answer is: probably not.
So. In my experience, when I ask a yes or no question like "hey, can we have pizza for dinner" or "can I choose how to decorate a room this time", any answer other than yes means "no".
"Can I order us a pizza", answered by "I was thinking of making a casserole", for example, means that if I go and order a pizza because I wasn't told "no", I'm the bad guy, and if I ask for a straight answer, I'm an idiot.
So when I said "hey, if we're going to completely redo the master bedroom, can I pick the theme?" and he said "I was thinking we could make it match the basement"....
There was no reasonable way I could have known that he was trying to invite me to an involved discussion of what we both wanted so that we could come to a mutually satisfying consensus, and I had every reason to think that I was being shut down.
Thank you, those of you who read my rant. And to those of you who didn't: that's fine. I just needed to scream at the void, and the neighbors get concerned if I go outside and do that literally.
Jenny: *(while in the truck and getting ready to go inside) hands me an empty soda bottle*
Me: *throws it away in the recycling bin on my way inside*
Jenny: That's the last time I give you my pop bottle!
Me: What did I do?
Jenny: That was the bottle I use to put my soda in to take to work! (She doesn't like taking cans to work cuz she can't drink them fast enough on break)
Efrain doesn't always remember that although his cousin, who is a void elf, can communicate with him by talking Thalassian, the rest of the Alliance races are incapable of understanding him.

Show Problems...
In trying to get my pop-in art show together, my internship boss has put increasing emphasis on "new work". Basically, when she first suggested this I thought we would take the pieces I already had finished and display them. Low pressure right? Well as time has moved on she has continued to pare out the pieces I completed in college and pushing for me to bring in pieces I have made since, or at least add new pieces to series. This has made me feel like she is delegitimizing the work I did before 8 months ago, even my amazing watercolor nudes (which I finished last summer and have not been publicly displayed) have had a little shade thrown at them. When I was designing the poster I used the first of the nudes on it because it is the most demure but still a strong piece. She tried to get me to switch it to a piece of the not yet completed 3rd nude. I held out though... It has made this very stressful and taken what little free time I had in the past few weeks and made me feel guilty for not creating. It has taken this thing that was supposed to be fairly casual and straightforward and turned it into a pressure storm.
There is also some issue with the curatorial statement. The way she views my work, and the intentions and inspirations behind them are not what I have communicated to her. Repeatedly. I managed to get a few things tweaked, but between her love of elite language usage and the fact that she is the one technically curating, I am kinda stuck with this bizarrely formal presentation of several branches of my work. If we were exhibiting only my mythical pieces, or only my nude figures, or only calligraphy I think this would have made a lot more sense. It has gone from being a showcase to a show, and quite frankly I am so tired of trying to get it to match my vision that I am just done. I’m not fighting for it anymore.
I will send out the press releases. I will print the posters. I will help hang everything. I will show up at the reception and smile. And I will hope that some of my work fucking sells to make it all worth it.
Next time though - I will be so on top of making sure I and my work is properly portrayed from the beginning. I will give them a write-up of all my pieces if I have to. This is my work and I have the right to tell the viewer what context it is meant to be viewed in while I still own it.
