New year, same illness/disability 🖤🫶🏻
I feel people largely missunderstand psychosomatic pain as pain that is "fake" or "just in your head" when it means pain that is the result of a mental condition, often some form of stress.
Stress causes REAL biological and medical issues (heart disease, immune system dysregulation, changes in blood pressure and heart rate, breathing dysfunction, muscle over use and tension) and can cause REAL pain and symptoms.
The only thing about it is that its often harder to effectively treat because its not the result of a regularly persistent issue as the trigger is stress and rooted in a psychological issue.
Its REAL pain from a REAL source.
just finished this collage style zine about my journey with FND leading up to my diagnosis. it'll be up on my shop later today (after i've made the first few copies) for £5, with £1 from every zine sold going towards the charity FND action. hope you all appreciete this first look.

Functional Neurological Disorder Pride Flag
“Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) is a condition that affects the way the brain and nervous system work, leading to a range of neurological symptoms such as limb weakness, paralysis, seizures, walking difficulties, spasms, sensory issues, cognitive problems and more. FND is most commonly referred to now as a ‘brain network disorder’…. Although symptoms of FND are commonly seen in neurology, epilepsy, and paediatric clinics, the exact cause remains unclear. Research suggests that symptoms arise from a problem in how the brain functions – particularly how it processes and sends signals to the body – rather than from structural damage. For some people, FND may follow illness, injury, or psychological stress, but for many, symptoms appear without a clear trigger.”
I just wanted us, the FND community, to have a pretty flag. The colors commonly associated with FND awareness, orange and blue, are both present. The purple represents diagnosed and undiagnosed people with FND, and the white represents the fact that this condition has many unknowns and is often misunderstood by professionals. The decal of a half brain with wires represents the malfunctioning “software” and rewiring of the brain, causing symptoms. The colors and stripe order are also open to personal interpretation. Anyone may use this flag, mind your own DNI.
Featuring icon edits of Crosshair (The Bad Batch), and Vanellope Von Schweetz (Wreckit Ralph), who I personally headcanon to have FND & at least canonically have FND-like experiences.

crutches are my new favorite thing ever. I got myself folding crutches to keep on my bag cause I get spontaneous paralysis (conversion disorder baybeeee) because I'm hoping with practice to be able to drag myself along when both of my legs are out (I've just been doing a kind of hobble hop with a cane when just one isn't working but I can't really do that with no legs at all) and I just used them with just one leg out because they were the closest thing to me when it happened and moving around was so easy?? I didn't even have to give up on any of the things I was planning to do before my leg went out
Hmmmm. Legend deserves FND
fnd is such an unserious disorder it's like haha yeah sorry i can't, um, i can't read that screenshot you sent. i-i mean, i can, but it's on light mode, and uh, if i try to read more than a few words on a white background or even just look at a sketch on white, my... my eyes start hurting, like really bad, like, no actually im not gonna use my gory metaphors, you just have to trust me it's at like a 7, okay? yeah, so can you. yeah you can use a discord bot to invert the image please. yeah, okay, thanks. yeah and now that ive told you once you really have to remember it on your own cause thinking or talking about one fnd symptom makes all of them worse. yeah. yeah, sorry. yeah if i read something on light mode i won't be able to walk right for the rest of the day, sorry. haha, sorry
