headcanons about Bee, Star, and Winter, because I've been talking about them with @loverboy-havocboy and I love them tbh
Bee:
His hair is long enough to be halfway down his back in a braid. When he's nervous, he reaches behind his back to tug at the end of his braid.
He likes the taste of nuts but not the crunchy texture so he just. Eats an extraordinary amount of peanut butter. His favourite candy are Reese's cups.
Do not trust him to cook, he will set things on fire and have no idea how it happened. But he's really good at finding recipes that everybody loves and follows a bunch of cooking blogs.
He has like seven bottles of screen cleaner on his desk and he never uses any of them, he just keeps cleaning his glasses on his shirt.
All his non-work outfits are open-back to show off his tattoo. For fancy black-tie events, he puts his hair up in updos with a bunch of glittery pins. His favourite set of pins are gold ones that are shaped like bees.
He wants more tattoos but he's worried about not liking them once he has them. He's most likely to get a matching tattoo with one of his squad or a lover.
The first time he smelled vanilla extract, he took a shot from the bottle because obviously it would taste so much better- Anyway there were real tears and he still gets a little :/ whenever he smells vanilla candles.
He loves pine-scented everything. One year he flirts his way into getting all the chopped-off branches from a Christmas tree tent and it's the best Christmas of his life.
Star:
He has anxiety that tends to manifest as anger issues and Winter is the only one who can calm him down. He hates that he still gets angry about Winter but mostly he's scared that he might somehow hurt Winter.
Cheetos guy. He will go through a family-sized bag of Cheetos in two minutes or less. It's honestly impressive. Winter got him a set of those finger guards and Star unironically loves them.
The first time he went to an arcade, he tried all afternoon to win a five-foot-tall stuffed panda and ended up just paying $100 to the guy running the counter to give it to him. His name is Bamboo.
He can tell owls apart by their calls but he doesn't like other birds. He specifically doesn't like the way their heads bob when they walk, he thinks it's weird.
He keeps getting commercial jingles stuck in his head and he really hates it. Sometimes he hums them when he's brushing his teeth and Winter is like "...what on earth is that" and then Star has to pout about it being even more stuck in his head because he thought about it.
He started fencing in high school and competed all the way until graduation. After that be took a break for a few years before he joined a local team and started competing again. He has a massive collection of foils and swords on display at home.
He has a jewellery care sheet taped up next to the bathroom mirror and takes his rings for cleaning every other month. It's the thing he takes most seriously in his life. He doesn't wear anything but his rings.
He does, however, wear black smoky eyeliner and lipstick. It's his favourite way to accessorise. For special occasions, he breaks out candy-red lipstick.
Winter:
In addition to his rings, he wears a locket with pictures of his twins. He was scared about them meeting Star, because Winter would have ended any relationship if his kids didn't like the other guy, and Star could be difficult. But they all got along so it's good!
He has a motorcycle, specifically a candy-red Honda Gold Wing. His riding outfit is a matching candy-red helmet and leather cowboy boots, a black leather jacket, a light blue button-down, and black jeans.
Tuesday evenings are for dining out. He has a list of restaurants he wants to try and keeps reviews of them all in a notebook so he can remember which ones he liked and what their best food is.
He picked out transparent reading glasses on a whim because they seemed cool and novel. He loses them constantly. He refuses to get another pair as long as they still work, to the annoyance of just about everyone around him.
Loves the beach but is scared of the deep ocean. There's shit down there that he simply doesn't want to know about.
Unironically thinks that Bigfoot might exist.
He puts paper umbrellas in all his drinks. Also he keeps forgetting to drink water so he adds in powdered mixes. He likes fruit flavours for those, but his favourite Gatorade flavour is light blue and he has exactly zero idea what it tastes like.
An entire bookcase in his office is dedicated to all the Father's Day gifts that the twins got him. He puts another bookcase next to it for anniversary gifts.
"Ey, Winter, the gremlin got in the office again."
Winter glances over to see Sunny carrying Sky over xeir shoulder like a sack of potatoes. Sky, for his part, is enjoying the ride immensely judging by the way he's giggling and kicking his feet.
Sunny tucks the four-year-old carefully to xer chest before flopping down on the couch, xer hand patting Sky's back once they've landed.
"I thought he was your gremlin on Tuesdays," Winter comments, taking a sip of his coffee.
"Excuse you, we have a shared custody agreement 24/7," Sunny says, not sounding the least bit insulted. Instead xe scrunches xer face up and sticks xer tongue out at Sky, who giggles again and then promptly headbutts xer.
They've been teaching him to keldabe kiss, or at least been trying. Sky is faster and more excitable than any of them, and hasn't quite gotten the 'gentle' part down yet.
Winter knows that none of them mind. The twins had been quiet when they first arrived four months ago. Barely spoke, never laughed, just stared at the adults and clung to each other.
Sunny's become one of their favourites, since. With xer neon hair and constant smile, xe was the first to get a laugh out of Silver. And once he started to trust the adults, Sky wasn't far behind. That he went and searched out a buir on his own...
Winter's so very proud of him.
"You want me to take him?" he asks instead.
"Have you had a rabies shot lately?"
Winter rolls his eyes.
"What happened to shared custody?"
"You've gotta get him away from me, first. What do you think, shiny, should we tackle Winter or make a run for it?"
"Run, run!" Sky demands excitedly.
"All right, up we go!"
Sunny bounces up from the couch, making airplane noises as xe swooshes Sky overhead. He shrieks in a way that Winter used to think meant he was being eaten by a wild animal, but has since recognised as a sign of pure delight.
He smiles to himself and checks the screen of the tablet next to him. Silver's napping off the last day or so of a flu, which is probably why Sky went looking for Sunny instead of staying with Bee. He's been miserable the entire time he's been separated from his twin. Winter's glad that Sunny can ease that.
When he steps over to the window to check on them, half an hour later, they're both utterly entranced by a dragonfly resting on Sunny's foot. He smiles to himself. Yeah, he was going to call them in for lunch, but it won't hurt them to take their time.
He does get a pair of krispie treats from the cabinet above the fridge, where all the adults pretend not to know that the cookies are kept. It will no doubt make Sky screech all over again, to see his favourite, but Winter can live with that.
He texts Star to ask if he's coming over for dinner later, and goes back to browsing for wedding rings.
Okay been thinking about what's going on with Snack Squad in a sort of modern AU and I think I've got some things figured out. They live near (or in) a big NYC-style city where most of them work, although Zenith's work is the most distant from their house.
Winter: architecture professor
Bee: tech support
Indigo: art gallery secretary
Jewel: part-time rehab nurse
Nebula: accountant
Zenith: Forest Service pilot
Sunny: tattoo, digital, and traditional artist
Star: social media manager
Winter, Bee, Sunny, and Nebula share a six-bedroom house on the edge of the city that they got for cheap since it was in an absolutely ruined state. Winter had his heart set on it from the very moment he saw it. It took them almost a decade to finish fixing it up and plant a massive garden in the back with a few mature fruit trees. One of the spare bedrooms is kept for Zenith, and the other is used as a shared office since Bee and Nebula both partially work from home.
When Winter fosters the twins, Zenith's things are cleared out to move in two smaller beds for them. Zenith doesn't mind being moved out at all, especially when they end up replacing the backyard shed with a standalone studio that ey gets the key to. Ey jokes it's better that way because then ey doesn't have to listen to them being loud at each other. Over the next two years, they build a sunroom/office for Bee and Nebula, so the twins can later each have their own room.
Eventually Star moves in with them, when things get serious with him and Winter. He can work from home easily, and he loves the sense of community and belonging that the house has.
Jewel and Indigo share a loft in the downtown arts district, in walking distance of Indigo's workplace. They also share a bed platonically so the second bedroom is for Zenith. He prefers their place because it's much more conveniently located and also he worries about them being lonely since they live away from the others, even though they spend every other weekend at the family house.
Winter is highkey everyone's sugar daddy because he makes six digits and shares generously. You can't mention something you want around him without him finding a way to get it for you.
Bee is everyone's default "please help me figure out what happened to my wifi" guy and he allows it because Sunny always makes gingerbread snaps to thank him.
Indigo gets the entire squad into art museums for free. He's also connected to other artsy types and is always inviting the team along to indie film festivals, temporary museum exhibits, and other things they never knew existed until he brought them along.
Jewel uses the others' connections to help find hobbies and jobs for the veterans zhi works with, and brings home all sorts of gifts and freebies as a result. They've gotten quite an eclectic collection of gifts.
Nebula helps them with their taxes and gives Indigo's gallery a reduced rate on services as long as they showcase Sunny's work in the front room of their gallery.
Zenith hands out national park passes to everyone, whether they ask or not. Ey also flies Jewel and Indigo out on weekend trips when one of them gets an itch to visit somewhere, and helps arrange flights for all of their vacations.
Sunny makes dinners for everyone when they hit a busy patch. Xe's a great cook and baker, and it helps xer relax on the off chance that work is being stressful. Xe also makes vegan gluten-free chocolate chip cookies for Jewel to take to work.
I don't know why this has flung itself into my mind, but Winter has no desire to have anything approaching a romantic relationship but then he takes one (1) look at some guy in a flower shop and immediately falls fully in love
the twins are never letting him live this down ever but they and everyone else think Winter is being super adorable with his lil crush
but he's scared to do anything about so he's just super nice to this guy and oblivious to the fact that flower boy is wildly in love with Winter also
okay the curiosity has finally gotten to me. Tell me about Winter. What's their gender situation? Sexuality? Favorite food and color? Opinions on wet floors? Opinions on rare steak? Feelings about heights? Literally anything else too.
Winter's first gen and it makes him feel so old sometimes <3 He's the responsible dad in a usually-vaguely-exasperated way, he worries a lot, especially about the younger clones. He's well aware that their squad is ragtag and experimental and they could very well all be decommissioned at a whim from the Kaminoans if they're deemed a failure.
When Order 66 happens, he's the one who hears about it first, and he's the one who immediately gets them all as far from the rest of the GAR as possible. Being Force-sensitive means the squad's chips don't work properly so O66 didn't affect them like all the others. His worry was that O66 would lump them in with the Jedi and their vode would be coming to murk them.
He's somewhere in the realm of agender but he's not super aware of what's going on there. He has so many other things to focus on (like keeping the twins out of trouble, which is a full-time job) that figuring out his gender is a non-issue for him. He's well aware he's gay though, he's a blushing mess when a pretty boy flirts with him.
He loves chicken parmesan, it's got that nice combination of meat, cheese, and pasta. Hates lasagna though, there's no reason for pasta to come in sheets like that, he has strong feelings about it.
Favourite colour is that sort of fluffy pastel blue that you sometimes see right after a sunrise. He likes sunrises too but he doesn't really watch the sun itself cause it tends to hurts his eyes.
Wet floors are his enemy but it's mostly because he has to do a penguin-y sort of shuffe to feel like he's not gonna slip and the twins simply never let him live it down. He threw his bucket at them it's fine they'll all live.
Disapproves of rare steak but that's because he's under the impression that it's bleeding and that's just not appetizing to him. Even if he found out otherwise, he still wouldn't like it.
He doesn't mind heights except when one of the twins are piloting. Zenith does a great job in the cockpit, the kids not so much, they have a lot of energy and excitement and they make it everyone else's problem, bless their hearts.
Also since I mentioned he's Force-sensitive, there's a few abilities that he's particularly strong in! Force barrier (a defensive Force power composed of Force energy), alter environment (various techniques for manipulating nature [generally stable character who snaps and calls down lightning on threats? yespls]), cleanse mind (negate an on-going mind-affecting Force power from themselves or an ally within their line of sight), Force empathy (sense the emotions of others, and potentially even manipulate them [mostly used to make other Jedi be nicer about Star cause fuck the generals and not in the fun way]), and Force jump. Which is last on purpose cause his knees ain't what they used to be and he can't go hopping up onto roofs and shit like he used to.
Glad this is over.
