Originally from Central and North America the species Cucurbita pepo and Cucurbita maxima provide the many hybrids and cultivars of pumpkin and squash. This time of year the pick-your-own fields are busy providing ornamental and culinary specimens of orange joy.

Grassy median garden updates!

The Chocolati where I sell stuff and come to work on stuff on my computer (the back patio is gr8 if you’re stressed and need to chill while working on projects or drawing) also lets me garden and grow stuff for myself and the staff and the manager killed this patch of grass a few years back as a gardening experiment, so along with the back patio and my P-patch this is a third place I have taken over ahaha.

The squashies have flowered!! It’s now a matter of getting the staminate and pistillate flowers to coincide so I can get fruit!

I know gardening isn’t a competition, but there is a part of me that wants to race to see how early I can get tomatoes in Seattle.

They’re doing really well so far! (Also there are maybe not great climate implications re: me getting them out so early this year.)

This one is on the patio, but I really liked the golden sheen the sun causes this ground cherry to have when the light hit the trichomes/hairs.

Hero Form Appearance: A hybrid of a trick or treater’s costume and YuYuYu’s Hero Form Outfits. The undersuit is a Halloween black- which is a canvas for the main outfit, which is a bright and spooky orange- and it becomes a pumpkin leaf green when you reach the lower half of the sleeves, the lower half of the pants, and the tailcoat. Accent colors are black, white, gold, silver, cream, and yellow. The shoes, gloves, and belt all have patterns of pumpkin blossoms on them, and the only other accessory is a pumpkin blossom brooch on Kabo’s left breast. The flower’s petal shape can be seen in the tailcoat and collar.

I'm gonna make a simple roasted pumpkin with maple syrup drizzled on it. I just plucked this one from my yard🙂 (it's one of the last of their growing season)🧡.

I'm using a larger pumpkin to make maple-pecan pumpkin loaves tomorrow.
