9 & 15 for Eyra & Gladio; 23 & 27 for Ells & Cullen (my bebs)
Ambeeeeeeeeer! <3 Hiiiii and thank you for asking <3 <3 <3
9) Who wakes the other up in the middle of the night to tell them a cool dream they had? Who has the most nightmares, and who sings them back to sleep after?
Answered here!
15) Who likes to write the others name on their wrist?
Hm. I’m not sure either of them really would. I think they’re both more likely to do things like trace their name with their finger on each other during things like back rubs or idle times. Eerie and Gladio are both tattooed so they’re usually tracing their fingers around the edges of those. But, although she’d never actually admit this, I could see Eerie tracing his name on her arm with her finger tip but she’s not gonna actually write it on there. There’s a tonne of people that would never let her live it down.
Ells and Cullen
23) Who thinks they are not good enough for the others love? and who’s more afraid of loosing the other? Who thinks they keep messing up, only for the other to tell them they don’t need to worry?
Given both their histories, this is something they both suffer from on occasion but end of the day, I’m pretty sure Cullen doesn’t think he’s good enough for Elora. He doesn’t see himself as much to offer and, in the beginning at least, was worried that someone else was surely going to catch her attention. Of course, she isn’t interested in anyone else and always tells him that. When words don’t work, she’s all for showing him how much she loves him and that she’s not going anywhere.
27) Who orders take out at two in a morning? and who wakes the other up at three in the morning to go downstairs with them to get a glass of water because it’s too dark?
Elora. Elora Elora Elora. One, while she loves cooking, sometimes she’s in the mood for take out and sometimes it’s at two in the morning. But she’d make Cullen go answer the door because it’s late and she doesn’t think that’s safe. That going downstairs in the dark thing has sleepy grumpy arguments because she’s a mage, she can just make light so it’s not dark anymore. Her response is it’s not the same. If there’s monsters in the dark, light isn’t going to do much so she needs him to go with her. To keep her safe. In their own house. She’s fully aware it sounds foolish but she doesn’t care. She wants him to hold her hand and fight the shadow monsters for her.
FILL IN THE QUESTIONS/STATEMENTS AS IF YOU ARE BEING INTERVIEWED FOR AN ARTICLE AND YOU WERE YOUR MUSE.
Got tagged a few times to do this (thank you @magisteramell, @valammar, and @sheer-mediocre!) Going to tuck under a cut as I’m sure it’s going to be a bit long
1. WHAT IS YOUR NAME?
Elora
2. WHAT IS YOUR REAL NAME?
Elora Fiammetta Rutherford
3. DO YOU KNOW WHY YOU WERE CALLED THAT?
Not a clue but I find it ironic that my names mean light and fire and lightning and fire are what I excelled at when I was learning to control my magic at the Tower.
4. ARE YOU SINGLE OR TAKEN?
Taken. So very taken...and repeatedly. Not that you asked that.
5. HAVE ANY ABILITIES OR POWERS?
The whole mage thing didn’t clue you in? If you want particulars, I’m adept at fire and lightning and I can conjure a sword out of thin air.
6. STOP BEING A GARY STU.
...What?
7. WHAT’S YOUR EYE COLOR?
Light green. If you ask my cousin, he’ll tell you it’s ‘Fade Green’. I still haven’t forgiven him for that and I will hit him again if he says it again.
8. HOW ABOUT YOUR HAIR COLOR?
Dark brown.
9. HAVE YOU ANY FAMILY MEMBERS?
Immediate? My parents are in Hercinia, along with my eldest brother Valen and his family. His twin brother, Viktor, lives in Nevarra with his family and I think he’s taken a break from hunting dragons? But I’m not sure. Then there’s Baen, who was a Templar, and now is at Skyhold with his wife and daughter. And lastly there’s Cator. We don’t talk about about Cator. There’s also the kittens-Lina, Arryn, Liv, Maddie, and Thea.
If you want extended, the Trevelyans are spread across the Free Marches, Orlais, Nevarra, and Antiva. There’s too many to count and too few I honestly care about.
10. OH? WHAT ABOUT PETS?
I have a black kitten called Soot, Hawke’s mabari Peekay, and Cullen’s mabari...Patches. I’m not sure he’s quite forgiven me and Nessa for that name.
11. THAT’S COOL I GUESS, NOW TELL ME ABOUT SOMETHING YOU DON’T LIKE.
You guess? I.... Well, rats if you must know. Or mice. Whichever. The little tiny rodents that have no business being anywhere. Which is why I have the cat.
12. DO YOU HAVE ANY HOBBIES/ACTIVITIES YOU LIKE DOING?
I sketch a little, mostly the places that I’ve been or the plants I see so that I can try to have a reminder when I need someone to gather them for me.
13. EVER HURT ANYONE BEFORE?
Yes and even if he’s forgiven me I’ll never be able to forgive myself.
14. EVER….KILLED ANYONE BEFORE?
It’s a war and while I’d rather not, yes, I have.
15. WHAT KIND OF ANIMAL ARE YOU?
Something cuddly and squishy.
16. NAME YOUR WORST HABITS.
Pushing myself too far and not taking care of myself.
17. DO YOU LOOK UP TO ANYONE AT ALL?
There are a few people yes, some of them gone and some still with me.
18. GAY, STRAIGHT, OR BISEXUAL?
I really don’t know what that matters to you, but straight.
19. DO YOU GO TO SCHOOL?
I spent twenty years in a Chantry Circle. I think I’ve done enough schooling.
20. DO YOU EVER WANT TO MARRY AND HAVE KIDS ONE DAY?
It seemed like a silly thing to want in the Tower, but I did and now I am and have just the right amount.
21. DO YOU HAVE ANY FANBOYS/FANGIRLS?
I don’t imagine so. My husband on the other hand...
22. WHAT ARE YOU MOST AFRAID OF?
Rats. It’s what happens when your brother locks you in the cellar when you’re a child and it’s honestly the only thing you really remember about him. Mean selfish prick.
23. WHAT DO YOU USUALLY WEAR?
Loose shirts, leather boots and rather tight trousers. A certain someone asked me once why the tight pants if I’m wearing a shirt to hide it, which he didn’t ask again after a demonstration of why. Also the tighter they are, the more likely they are to keep wobbly bits in place.
24. DO YOU LOVE SOMEONE?
That would be my husband, Cullen. Wouldn’t have married him if I didn’t love him.
25. WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU WET YOURSELF?
Really?
26. WELL, IT’S NOT OVER YET!
Joy
27. WHAT CLASS ARE YOU? (HIGH CLASS, MIDDLE CLASS, LOW CLASS)
I was born high class, immediately became low class when my magic manifested (although my immediate family thought I was dead but that’s not really a class), and I suppose I garnered some sort of class by having a position in the Inquisition. But it doesn’t matter to me much. I live on a farm with a herd of children and what feels like a herd of mabari. That’s all I really want.
28. HOW MANY FRIENDS DO YOU HAVE?
I have a fair amount.
29. WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON PIE?
Depends. Sweet pies I can handle. Meat pies? Pass.
30. FAVOURITE DRINK?
Usually something light and fruity.
31. WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE PLACE?
Where I feel safe and loved. It moves because it’s usually with the people that make me feel that way.
32. ARE YOU INTERESTED IN SOMEONE~
You’re not paying attention...Oh never mind.
33. WHAT’S YOUR BRA CUP SIZE AND/OR HOW BIG IS YOUR WILLY?
More than a good Ferelden’s handful.
34. WOULD YOU RATHER SWIM IN THE LAKE OR THE OCEAN?
As I am not the best swimmer, probably a lake.
35. WHAT’S YOUR TYPE?
I married him.
36. ANY FETISHES?
Oh Andraste’s tits, you’re running out of questions now aren’t you?
37. SEME OR UKE? TOP OR BOTTOM? DOMINANT OR SUBMISSIVE?
You can’t be serious.
38. CAMPING OR INDOORS?
Indoors. I’m too squishy for sleeping on the ground.
39. ARE YOU WANTING THE QUIZ TO END?
Yes, now go bother someone else with these questions.
Runningthrough the hospital halls, Cullen ignored the shouts and cries that came up inhis wake. He didn’t care about them. They weren’t important right now and hewas sure someone else would make apologies for him. He didn’t care about thateither. The only thing he cared about was in a private room on this floor.
He nearlysmashed through the door when he reached it and the guard in the room jumped inresponse. “Oh, Commander, I-”
“Out,” hesaid harshly, his gaze already on the woman in the bed.
There was aquiet noise as the guard left but he didn’t pay it any mind. All he could seewas the green eyes partially opened and looking back at him. “Ells,” hebreathed, moving toward her.
“Hi,” shesaid weakly.
She wasalive. Maker’s breath, the call had only said that she was here but not what stateshe was in. After that phone call, that horrible fucking phone call, he hadn’tknown what to expect once he got here. He could see bandages peeking out fromunder her hospital gown and there were bruises on her fair skin, but she wasalive.
Stumblingacross the room, he barely hesitated before climbing onto the bed beside her.It didn’t look like the normal hospital beds and he hoped he wasn’t going toset off any alarms by doing this. But when Elora turned to cuddle into him, herface tucking into the crook of his neck, he forgot all about it. “You scaredme,” he whispered. “Don’t you ever do that again.”
“I’m sorry,”she said in a small voice. “I was scared and we were cornered and all I couldthink was that I needed to tell you that I loved you.”
“Why didn’tyou call me back?” Cullen breathed.
“Lost thephone,” she whispered.
He let outa harsh breath and pulled her closer. “I love you.”
“I love youtoo.” Her voice was teary and a second later he felt the tears start to hit hisskin. “I didn’t t-think I was going to see you again,” she sobbed.
Tears stunghis eyes before he squeezed them shut. “You’re here and I’m here, Ells,” hemurmured. “You’re alright.”
She keptcrying, her fingers clutching at the front of his shirt.
Eventuallyhe’d get the details from her about what had happened but for now he was goingto comfort them both by just holding her. It was what they both needed rightnow and he wasn’t too sure he’d be able to handle knowing how close he mighthave come to losing her right now.
Kissing thetop of her head, he whispered again, “I love you.”
20. for Cullen and Elora, if you like? Maybe set in The Second Dragon Age (but it doesn't have to be)?
<3 This is kinda sad and takes place after Trespasser. It sort of plays into something I’m attempting to write but here you go!
Rubbing hisneck as he walked through the too quiet house, Cullen fought the urge to sigh.He was tired, more tired than he had been during the activity of theInquisition. At least then he’d had something to fill his time with. The minorrenovations on the house didn’t feel like anything compared to what he had oncedone. But this was the life he had freely chosen, this was the life he hadwanted, and he wasn’t going to regret it.
He slowedas he drew closer to the door leading into the master bedroom and he could hearthe quiet voice of his wife. The word should have brought so much happiness tohim and it did but it was tarnished by the events of Halamshiral. Everythingwas tarnished by going back to that damned place a second time.
Cullenshook his head quickly. No. Nothing had honestly changed. He still loved Eloramore than anything, she was his wife and he her husband, and they were making alife together. It might not have been the one they’d originally thought theywould have when he’d proposed, but it was still theirs and they were going tomake the most of everything they’d been given.
Thatthought had him moving forward again, wanting to see Elora.
“Do youthink it’s mean?” he heard Elora softly say. “Keeping him here when I’m not thesame?”
His handpaused on the doorknob at the questions. He knew she was talking to Patches, that she did it a lot to just get her thoughts out, and that he really shouldn’tbe eavesdropping. But what she was saying bothered him.
“He marriedthe Inquisitor,” she continued quietly. “Now what am I?”
Cullenpressed his lips together to keep quiet. She was the woman he loved. She hadn’tbeen the Inquisitor when he met her, when he’d started falling in love withher. She was Elora and he wished he could make her understand that that wasenough. More than enough for him because he never thought that he would ever behere.
When Eloradidn’t say anything more, he waited a few moments before knocking gently on thedoor. He heard her inhale softly and Patches woofed almost excitedly as heopened the door. He smiled as he saw her on the edge of the bed, already in anightgown and her hand on Patches’ head. He made a pointed effort not to lookat her left arm. “Did you want to do anything before we settle in for thenight?” he asked, pulling his shirt off as he walked toward his dresser.
“No,” shesaid softly.
Cullenglanced over his shoulder as he heard her get off the bed and quietly padaround it to her side. As he watched her tug the blankets back, he murmured, “Ilove you.”
Elora frozebefore glancing at him. “What?”
He shovedhis pants down his legs and snagged the ones he would sleep in to put on. “Idon’t say it enough,” he said as he got them settled. “Which I really should.Growing up, I don’t think a single day went by that my father wasn’t constantlytelling my mother that he loved her. I suppose my time in the Academies drainedthat kind of happiness from me, dulled the memory. But being with you is thehappiest I’ve ever been and I should be telling you that. So I’ll try toremember to say it more because actions aren’t only enough.”
He thoughthe heard a quiet sob before she was suddenly pressing against his back, both ofher arms winding around him. He definitely heard her muffled crying as sheburied her face against him and her tears struck his skin.
Closing hiseyes, Cullen caught her hand and squeezed her gently. They’d be okay. He knewthey would and he couldn’t let go of that.
I set this in the lowlander so I hope that’s okay!
Blinkingawake, Elora groggily stared into the darkness around her and tried not to betoo cranky. She hadn’t been sleeping well for the last few weeks, never feelingcomfortable no matter how she lay. Being awake right now was not something thatshe wanted.
She sighedquietly. It was still dark out so she didn’t want to be awake. Trying not tothink so that she could go back to sleep, she cuddled as much as she could intothe bed. She could smell the rich scent of the fire burning, the heavier musk ofthe man behind her, and the winter air that crept into the house no matter howthey warded against it. A small tug pulled the covers up under her nose and shesnuggled into her pillow.
Cullenshifted on his side of the bed and she felt him brush against her as he rolled. She was half tempted to roll over to cuddle into him but that would requiremoving.
Her nosewrinkled slightly as she heard the excited whispers on the wisps around her. Hadthey woken her? It wouldn’t surprise her at all. Since Hawke had announced thatElora was pregnant to the clan, it felt like there had been nothing but nonstopchatter in her ears. She wasn’t sure she knew what silence was anymore and itwasn’t like she was going to be getting it once the baby was born.
A smallsmile curled her lips as she thought about that. A baby. She was having a babythat she would be allowed to raise and love. Whimpering softly as tears stungher eyes, Elora quickly smushed her face into the pillow to keep quiet. Thewisps had a horrible habit of kicking up a fuss every time she cried and didn’tseem to realise that tears didn’t always mean bad things. They let the entirehold know every time she so much as had an emotional wibble and she was sotired of it.
She nearlyjumped out of her skin when a hand settled on her waist, or what was left ofit, and slid around to stroke her stomach. Oh. Was he awake? Had she woken him?Or had the spirits without her reaslising? Did she say something? What if he was still sleeping?
Chills ranthe length of her when he buried his face in her hair and inhaled deeply. “Cullen?”she whispered.
“Aye, love,”he murmured. “Why aren’t you sleeping?”
“I don’tknow,” she sighed. “Something woke me up. Maybe it was the baby.”
His handshifting against her stomach again. “Not letting your mama sleep, are you, cub?”Cullen chuckled. “I thought that was my job.”
Eloralaughed weakly before squealing as Cullen ducked under the covers but merelypulled them off of her. “Cullen, it’s cold!” she protested, making a grab forthe blankets.
She snaggeda couple of them and hauled them up to cover herself even as he helped her rollonto her back. She thought she heard him shush her when she made a disgruntlednoise but it was lost through the thick furs of the blankets.
“What areyou doing?” she whispered, lifting the furs to try to peek at him. It didn’twork since it was far too dark to see but it let her hear much better.
Her lashesclosed as she listened to Cullen softly sing his way through the lullabyRosalie had taught her so many months ago to help soothe Cullen when he’d beenbedridden. She pulled the covers over her head to cocoon them in warmth and thesound of his rich voice going through the lines of the song.
I promise the idea for this one was much better than the last one!
11. things you said when you were drunk
Hearinga loud noise in the main room, Cullen lifted his head from the pillow, squinting at the door in the dark. What had that been? No, what was that? He could hear someone talking, almost to themselves, but he couldn’t make out the words. But it sounded like….“Elora?” he called groggily.
The dooropened and Elora came in. Although it was more like she crashed through thedoor and clung to it. “Cull?” she called.
Hefrowned and reached over to turn on a light. “Yes, were you expecting someoneelse?”
“No,”she said, dragging out the word. “Whatcha doing?”
“Sleeping,”he said dryly, watching her as she stumbled away from the door and closing itbehind her.
“Oh,sorry!”
“It’salright. I didn’t think you were getting back tonight.”
“Well, you know, we weren’t that far awayand-”
“Are youdrunk?” he asked, finally getting a good look, and smell, of her.
“Maybe,”she sang, giving him a grin.
Cullenrolled his eyes and rolled over on the bed. “I woke up because of that?” hemuttered.
“Aw, I’msorry,” Elora pouted. He didn’t need to see her to know that she was pouting. He could hear it.
Helistened to her mumble to herself as she got undressed before the bed wasdipping and the covers shifting as she settled down behind him. He reached outto turn off the lamp and pointedly ignored her as she cuddled against him.
“Cullen?”she mumbled, her lips brushing against his back as she spoke.
Hegrunted softly at her, wanting to go back to sleep. It had been a day full oftraining new recruits and putting them through their paces so he was tired. Hereally didn’t want to talk. He just wanted to sleep.
“Did youknow you have the most suckable cock I’ve ever had the pleasure of seeing,”Elora purred, nuzzling between his shoulder blades.
Cullenwheezed slightly. “What?” he demanded.
Her fingersslipped over his bare hip and teased the skin just under the waistband of hissleep pants. “Your cock is so suckable,” she breathed, her hand inching alittle lower. “I think about it sometimes, when I shouldn’t be, and all I wantto do is suck you off.”
“Maker’sbreath, you’re drunk,” Cullen groaned, reaching down to pull her hand away.
“Notthat drunk,” she protested. “I could still su-”
“Elora, you need to sleep this off.”
She waspouting again and trying to tug her hand out of his. “Let me please?” shemurmured. “It’ll help you sleep.”
Astrained laugh left him. “No.”
“Don’tyou like it when I do that?”
“Ofcourse I do, but you’re drunk.”
“It’snot hard to do, Cull. Honestly, all I really need to do is get you in my mouthand you could do the rest. Just fuck my-”
“Maker,Elora, do you hear yourself?” he asked, rolling over to face her.
“I justwanna suck on you,” she mumbled, burying her face in his chest this time.
Cullensighed deeply. It was going to be a long night unless she passed out soon.
Elora & Cullen TSDA - things you said with too many miles between us
This…took a different turn than I expected so I’m sorry D:
Leaningback in his chair, Cullen pushed out a sigh as he felt his back crack. A glanceat the clock on his desk told him he’d been working for a lot longer than hehad thought. Not that it surprised him; he lost track of a lot of things whenhe started going through paperwork. Josephine and Leliana teased him about it,saying he wouldn’t even remember to eat if they didn’t remind him. It wasn’tthat he forgot, his stomach never let him forget, but he pushed it off onereport at a time until it was much later.
If heleft now, he might be able to sneak something from the kitchen before they shutdown for the night.
Hegrabbed his phone off his desk before leaving the room. He doubted anyone wouldneed to get a hold of him at this time of night but he wasn’t going to takethat risk. Elora was out in the field and even though he had told her she didn’thave to call him, he knew that he was hoping she would. She hadn’t last nightbut he didn’t blame her. The connection in the Hissing Wastes was spotty atbest and knowing her she was probably passing out when she got back to hercamp.
Thehalls were mostly empty, people settling in for the night and the night shifts alreadyon their patrols. The kitchen was quiet but he still saw the head chef narrowher eyes at him as he came in but she didn’t say anything, merely pointing atsomething on one of the counters.
Cullendidn’t even look for something else. He merely went over and filled a platewith what was there. Seasoned chicken, boiled vegetables, and mashed potatoes. He was positive he heard the cook growl as he put his plate in a microwave butshe didn’t stop him.
“Wasteof a meal cooking it like that,” he heard her mutter.
He felthis cheeks heat before he forgot everything as his phone buzzed in his pocket.Cullen fumbled it slightly as he pulled it out, seeing the number. Lifting it,he quickly answered, “Ells, hi, I-”
“Cullen?”
Hisheart faltered when he heard the near panic in her voice. “Ells, what’s wrong?”he demanded.
“Cullen, I can’t-Fuck, don’t youfucking dare!”
He heardsomething crackle over the line-lightning?-and other sounds that accompanied afight. Was she calling him in the middle of a battle? “Elora, what are youdoing? Why are you calling?”
“Look, I just wanted you to know that I loveyou, okay? I finally got the call to go through and-Get back!”
That wasdefinitely lightning and shouts of party members. But the words she was sayingwere cooling his blood far more than the shouts every could. “Ells, don’t youdare,” he growled, trying not to panic himself. “Don’t you dare call me likethis.”
“Cullen, please, in case I don’t-”
“Shutup,” he snapped, trying to remember what they were doing in the Hissing Wastesthis time.
“Cull, I love-”
Henearly threw the phone when it cut her off and he realised he’d told her toshut up. As much as he didn’t want to think, he didn’t want that to be the lastthing he said to her if…if she…. Smashing her number to call her back, he feltlike he couldn’t breathe as it rang once…twice…and went to voicemail.
Cullensqueezed his eyes shut as he listened to her happy voice telling him to leave amessage after the beep. “Ells,” he rasped, telling himself he wasn’t going tocry, “call me back as soon as you have service. I’m sorry I told you to shutup. I love you. So much. Please…just call me back.”
Wip Wednesday again so here’s a teaser for next week’s Lowlander because I don’t know if I have anything else to share D:
She nearly jumped out of her skin, lost in thought and staring at the fires, when the door suddenly opened. Swallowing her fear, she pushed to her feet and started to gather her mana. She doubted their protectors would let just anyone through but there was only a chance.
“I can feel you.”
Her shoulders slumped at the quiet voice and she let go of her growing mana. Shifting so she could see the open door, she didn’t move further than that. Elora stared at the other woman as she stood in the doorway. She couldn’t see much with the dawn light behind her so she didn’t know what to expect from her. “Hawke,” she said softly.
“Elora,” she responded. “Are you going to attack me?”
She shook her head, her cheeks feeling hot. “I won’t apologise for reacting the way I did.”
“I don’t want you to,” Hawke said. “You were protecting your thane and the man you love. I showed up without warning in your bedroom. If you’d done anything less, I would have doubted your dedication to him.”
Hawke hadn’t been here for months. How did she know about that? Although…they had been sharing a bed. “Do you doubt me?”
“No,” she said shaking her head. “But that isn’t why I came to talk to you.”
Elora’s heart pounded in her chest as the other woman closed the door and came further into the room. She watched as Hawke moved to the table and put her hand on Branson’s head when he stirred. “What did you do?” she asked when he stilled again.
“I want to talk to you first and I can’t do that if his family is asking questions.”
That wasn’t telling her what she had done but she was getting the feeling that Hawke was unlikely to answer a lot of her questions. But she did see the way she relaxed once she was seated. “Are you alright?”
Icy eyes flicked to her. “No, but that doesn’t matter right now. What matters is what happened to Cullen. The god said you were scared of what happened.”
“Where I come from people are killed for possession,” she whispered. “They become abominations and are killed.”
