Lemuria Thoughts (HEAVY SPOILERS):

Lemuria was a really interesting world with themes of Heroism, and what is truly good and evil. Having Dacein, a being of nothingness that was literally just born trying to understand morality is really neat from a character building perspective. Though, from a storyline perspective, it can be a little too on the nose/obvious.

I also think the Lemur aspect of Lemuria is somewhat lacking? They are plentiful in Telos and the Wildlands, afterwards they kind of just…not really have any importance? Sure, there’s the Golden Lion (not actually a lion, he’s a lemur) in Heap and Lucien in Night Forrest; their both villains of their respective area. But other than that, it kinda feels like their importance as the Old One’s “Chosen Ones” just isn’t really there?

Overall, I would give the Storyline a decent 7/10. It has it’s flaws, sure, but I like it way more than Karamelle. The trailer that was released for Lemuria did it dirty.

As for the “main characters” themselves, here are my ratings.

Dacien: 9/10, the best character in Lemuria hands down. His arc of trying to make sense of the Spiral, trying to become something from nothing, and his distain for The Old One and his need to do good, all of it is great. I’m still upset he had to die. >:(

Stallion Quartermane: 6/10, I do feel like as the “Main” hero of the Heroes we meet he should have gotten more screen time but when he is there, he’s amusing enough. His drive for adventure and exploring gives him a good energy and drive for the feel of Lemuria, IMO. I don’t know how else to explain it.

Bantam: Gotta give him an 7.5/10, honestly. His design, it’s over the top and ridiculous and I love it. Plus I’m pretty sure that’s Dyvim’s VA voicing him, and, well, I gotta at least give one extra point to my rating for that. (May Bantam/Dyvim’s VA never find this Tumblr blog.) Also his unintentional, unknowing argument with Dacien about naming things in Killawahoo and then later having a bro moment with Dacien when he can see him in Telos about naming things is super wholesome.

Solomon Crane: A solid 6/10. I liked his arc of becoming more courageous, brave, and wiser to help his people rise up from the tyrant that is Lucien. He did feel a little plain though, but that’s not always a bad thing.

Duck Savage: 5/10, kinda feels like she was shafted/didn’t get enough time to herself. Also would have been nice to see her do stuff in Sky City and not just in Mandoria. But she does play off Mandar nicely, and having her and Mandar work together to fulfill a shared goal to show Dacien that opposites can reconcile is rather nice. I do like how you find her in quicksand, and she complains about having an itch she can’t scratch rather than her being starving and thirsty.

Mandar: 8/10 just for the fact he actually joined the battle against Moth Amon as a minion in game (I played that part solo). Wish more of the companions did that, honestly. He also has an amusing Arnold Schwarzenegger impression lmao.

Buck Gordon: 4/10, honestly the weakest of the Heroes IMO. Felt like his arc, as well as Sky City in general, got shafted HARD. Definitely felt the least for him.

Dog Tracy: 6.5/10, great voice acting and a nice contrast to the Shadoe. He’s blunt and to the point, and sometimes that’s a nice change of pace to the more wild, over the top characters like Quartermane, Bantam, and even Mandar. Him getting trapped in an invisible box is also pretty funny.

The Shadoe: 8.5/10, really fun character who also has a unique way of fighting crime. Rather than fighting bad guys per say, she fights their demons and tries to rehabilitate them as well as fight the conditions that make people do crime in the first place. Her compassion is super admirable. She’s also extra in her performance, and I think that’s great.

-Infiltrating a garlean base, blowing it up, and picking up stray garlics (plus another kid) and a voidsent after watching your not girlfriend die, you know, like one does

-Risking heat stroke in your fancy coat because you didn’t bring fancy clothes while a bunch of voidsent judge you

-Alastor’s still an idiot, the shocking revelation that shocked no one.

-It is always a good idea to throw rocks at people who insult you.

Contemplations

Fandom: Dragon Age Rating: T? sex mention but nothing graphic Ship: Dacien/random oc, Dacien/Halan hinting Summary: Dacien contemplates some of his life decisions pt 2

Dacien slips from the aravel as discreetly as possible, rolling his shoulders and stretching as his feet touch the ground. He intends to go find Halan, or perhaps go to his own aravel for a nap and let Halan find him later as his injuries are minor and mostly just sore muscles, but his feet take him in neither direction, instead finding himself sat on a crate some distance between his two destinations.

He kicks his feet to feel and hear the soft thud of his heels as they swing back against the crate and he stares at his hands in his lap. What was he doing? The entire clan knew he was following Fenumin’s footsteps and sleeping his way through anyone willing. And likely everyone knew that it was almost a direct result to Fenumin settling down. So what was he doing? Was he trying to find himself in others’ beds? Or was he trying to lose himself?

He hadn’t stopped to think about it, hadn’t thought the first time he propositioned someone, nor any of the times he was naked for anyone. He didn’t want to think, didn’t want to think about how Fenumin had used him, wakened a need he didn’t know he had and then left him. Didn’t want to think about how he knew it was going to happen and never braced for it. Didn’t want to think about any repercussions of his own actions. And wasn’t that the very definition of losing himself in others?

But was he going to stop? The very thought left him feeling as empty as he did the moment he knew Fenumin would never again pin him to his lap, no longer kiss him fiercely and tell him how he wasn’t anything but a go to in between fucks. That he wasn’t more than someone to kiss to take the edge off. Sleeping with others never made him feel complete the way part of him did held tight and kissed hard by someone he knew didn’t care about him.

Was that the problem then? Did he need to find someone who wanted nothing more than sex from him? Someone who would kick him out and disregard him when they were done? Was there even anyone in the clan capable of such? Was that even what he truly wanted?

Dacien catches his gaze drifting to Halan, speaking with Sulahn. Halan, who had been his friend ever since he could remember, Halan who was the First for the clan and would be Keeper after Sulahn. If he wanted someone who didn’t care, then why was he always drawn to Halan who obviously cared deeply for him?

Frustrated, Dacien aggressively rubs his hands over his face. He didn’t feel used when he left any of his bedmates the same way he always did when Fenumin had been finished with him. Likely because he was the one doing the pursuit, always the one doing the propositions, always the one who left once done, never truly kicked out. And a part of him he could feel craving that same sensation, craving someone to come to him, to use him, not simply to offer himself up like a sacrifice to anyone willing to take him. But also another part of him was drawn to Halan’s gentleness, their care. He wasn’t sure what that meant.

With a sigh, he slides off the crate and deciding he was done thinking about this for the moment, instead continuing to Halan’s aravel for a nap, not wanting to interrupt them and Sulahn, but wanting them to know he was done should they wish to look him over for bruises or other injuries they deemed in need of healing. It would hardly be the first time he slept in their bed.
