Georgia Candidate Who Thinks 2020 Was Stolen Apparently Voted Illegally 9 Times

Brian Pritchard once accused Gov. Brian Kemp of being “complicit” in the supposedly stolen election.

A right-wing talk show host running in a high-profile special election in Georgia allegedly voted illegally nine times while serving probation for felony convictions, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Monday.

The candidate, Brian K. Pritchard, is running in a Jan. 3 special election to replace former Georgia Speaker of the House David Ralston, who died last month shortly after winning re-election. Pritchard is running against Sheree Ralston, the late legislator’s widow, in a safe Republican seat that David Ralston won uncontested last month.

Pritchard, who is now accused of voting illegally, has also falsely claimed the 2020 presidential election was “stolen” from former President Donald Trump, and accused Republican state officials of being “complicit,” according to the Journal-Constitution.

When Pritchard first registered to vote in Georgia in January 2008, he was still on probation after he pleaded guilty in 1996 to felony forgery and theft charges in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. In Georgia, former felons aren’t allowed to vote until they’ve completed their sentence, which includes probation.

In February 2021, Georgia’s State Election Board accused Pritchard of voting while serving a felony sentence, one of dozens of voter fraud cases referred to prosecutors at the time, according to the Clay County Progress. At the time, Pritchard’s attorney said Pritchard was not aware he was considered a felon when he cast his ballots, according to the Journal-Constitution.

And last week, the office of Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr—one of those officials Pritchard accused of being “complicit” in the “stolen” election, according to the Journal-Constitution—said in a filing that Pritchard had broken the law each time he voted, the Journal-Constitution reported.

Carr’s office said Pritchard voted five times in 2008 and four times in 2010, according to August-based TV station WDRW. Carr’s office has requested a hearing in Fannin County, where Pritchard lives, for the week of Jan. 9, after the special election.

Pritchard could face up to $45,000 in fines, but he hasn’t been criminally charged and he wouldn’t be disqualified from serving in the legislature if he wins the election, according to the Journal-Constitution.

Pritchard has vehemently denied the accusation and appeared to imply he was targeted due to his candidacy. “I’ve not done anything wrong here,” Pritchard, who also owns a media company called FetchYourNews, told the Journal-Constitution Monday. “I guess if you’re apprehending public enemy No. 1, here I am.”

“I will not be intimidated,” Pritchard told the Dawson County News last week. “I will not be bullied.”

Pritchard said in a press release when he announced his run last week that he “will always support our law enforcement.”

“The safety and well-being of our citizens will alway be a top priority of mine,” Pritchard said in the release. “Keep Atlanta crime out of our mountains!”

These accusations haven’t stopped Pritchard from spreading lies about the 2020 election. Pritchard accused Carr and Gov. Brian Kemp of being “complicit” in a stolen election during an April episode of his web show.

“I don't believe 81 million people voted for [Joe Biden],” Pritchard said at the time. “When they stole an election, and Brian Kemp was complicit, the Governor of Georgia, and Chris Carr the Attorney General was complicit in Georgia, and you see Joe Biden…this is what they did to us.”

During the same episode, Pritchard said that Biden has dementia and called Georgia Sen. Raphael Warnock a “false prophet.”

A defiant Georgia lawmaker was escorted by police from the state’s House chamber after refusing to be tested for COVID-19 — and is reportedly planning to return without getting screened.

State Rep. David Clark, a Republican from Buford, was removed from the House chamber in Atlanta on Tuesday for refusing to comply with protocols for legislators to be tested twice per week.

Clark — who is accused of missing three weeks of screenings — was removed by a state trooper at the request of a fellow Republican, House Speaker David Ralston, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

“I’m not falling in line,” Clark told the newspaper later Tuesday while vowing to return to the Capitol Wednesday without being tested.

“They have no right to do this. I’m going to show back up tomorrow and try to get in. I’m going to show up every day and work for my constituents.”

Ralston had previously chastised Georgia House lawmakers upon learning that 74 of its 180 members didn’t get screened as required when the current session started about three weeks ago, the newspaper reported.

“We have a member of this body who has deliberately failed at all to get tested as we begin session, clearly in violation of our testing policy,” Ralston told his colleagues Tuesday, adding that the unnamed rep was “jeopardizing” the health of others, according to the outlet.

“I don’t know about y’all, but I’ve been to too many funerals, and I’m getting tired of going to them,” Ralston continued after Clark was shown the door.

Ralston’s office later notified Clark that he would lose his legislative office space until he complies with the testing protocols.

A message seeking comment from Clark Wednesday was not returned, but he promised not to go away quietly and told the Journal-Constitution he was considering legal action.

Clark said he arrived Tuesday “prepared to follow the required protocols” by wearing a mask inside the chamber, having his temperature checked and maintaining distance from his colleagues.

“What I will not do is be forced to have a Covid test, or any unnecessary medical test, done without a basis for doing so,” Clark tweeted Tuesday. “The seat that I hold for District 98 is not my seat, but the people’s seat.”

Clark said he “cannot in good conscience” watch tests that should be doled out to state citizens in desperate need be “wasted for nothing more than political optics” at the state Capitol.

“The CDC has been clear; a symptom-based strategy is more effective than a test-based strategy,” Clark tweeted. “With that said, if I had symptoms, I would not hesitate to be tested to protect others.”

Nearly 12,000 Georgians have died from COVID-19, state data shows.

Several members of the state Senate reportedly contracted the virus last spring. Clark’s father-in-law, state Sen. Brandon Beach, R-Alpharetta, attended while sick in March and later tested positive, according to the Journal-Constitution.

ATLANTA— A Georgia lawmaker will resign after exposing himself and yelling racial slurs on provocateur Sacha Baron Cohen’s cable TV show, a spokesman for House Speaker David Ralston said.

Rep. Jason Spencer had vowed to serve out his term despite the fallout. Now he’ll step down at month’s end, spokesman Kaleb McMichen told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution late Tuesday.

In Sunday night’s broadcast of Cohen’s Showtime series “Who Is America?” Cohen poses as an Israeli military expert who persuades Spencer to take part in several outlandish exercises. The lawmaker is told they’re making a counterterrorism video.

Spencer repeatedly shouts a racial slur for black people after Cohen tells him the tactic is useful for drawing bystanders’ attention to an unfolding attack.

He also drops his pants, then his underwear, before backing his exposed rear end toward Cohen while shouting “USA!” and “America!” Cohen told Spencer this would incite fear in homophobic jihadists. The segment also shows Spencer speaking with a mock Asian accent while using a selfie-stick to surreptitiously insert a camera phone between the legs of a woman dressed in traditional Muslim clothing.

Ralston and others had called for his immediate resignation.

In a statement Monday, Spencer apologized for the “ridiculously ugly episode,” but he initially refused to step down.

Spencer lost the Republican primary in May, but he could have remained in public office through the November election.
