My mother ruined Ben Fankhauser for me. We were at Newsies (2017) and Davy was singing Seize the Day, and she leaned over and whispered “He looks like Justin Trudeau, doesn’t he?”
Alright alright fine I didn't want to be involved in The Discourse™ but here's my two cents okay? No one will make you ship any ship you don't want to ship. There is a lot of ambiguity about the specific details of the lives of the characters in the show we all love, and one of the upsides of fandom is getting to fill in the blanks in their stories however you want. Imagine them straight. Imagine them gay. Both are legitimate opinions. Disrespecting or erasing or soaking (to make use of our vernacular) someone else or their headcanon is Not Okay.
