I didn't include his big shot era in this because I'm gonna have a separate post for that entirely with different headcanons.
And howdy boy do I have some notes on this guy.
Some text notes/headcanons below the cut, for fun and for anyone interested! This one gets a lil lengthy because I'm a madman about this dude.
Body used to be more organic, but has since turned entirely into a doll. He still glitches like he's made of code though. (And yes, he does his own repairs.)
Smokes frequently. His body's long since fucked anyway.
Manipulative (even though itās so apparently obvious heās trying to scam you.) Claims he is an honest man while actively pulling you into whatever schemes he has in mind. May not steal your wallet outright but would definitely pressure you into handing it over yourself.
Body is slightly eldritch in nature. Probably due to his run in with [redacted] over the phone.
Vocal tic flares up worse when stressed out, hysterical, or angry. Or when heās trying to sell someone something. He just canāt help himself. Has occasional moments of full composure where he can speak without the tic. But they arenāt often and he probably has to focus.
Is aware of the prophecy, or enough of it that it messed him up just from knowing it. Donāt mention the lord of screens.
Can NOT show vulnerability around other people. Crying around someone? Absolutely not. Thatās between him and [ g o d ].
Touch starved. I donāt even need to explain this itās probably just canon.
Donāt bring up the other Addisons around him.
Occasionally hears phantom phone ringing. Heās long since chosen to ignore it, knowing it will never be real.
Tenna was one of the only people to have ever shown him a shred of honest kindness in the past. But even that, too, eventually went [south of the border]. ā¦right?
Personal hc that he either had his ties sabotaged with Tenna by whoever was over the phone and was made to believe that Tenna just wanted to use him once the contract had been signed. Or (my personal favorite theory) that he was threatened by whoever was over the phone because he was going to tell Tenna everything, and Spamton was punished for caring about someone enough to share that knowledge. Therefore, he blamed Tenna for his downfall. The alternative was that heād have to accept that he brought everything on himself, and he cannot let this be true for the sake of his sanity (and ego.)
The casual and constant self depreciationā¦ Somehow he is simultaneously a narcissist and yet he utterly hates himself.
Hc that the garbled voice in big shot was him trying to contact tenna back then but being unable to get in touch with him. This line was likely one of the last sane memories he had before he was corrupted.
I believe that his corruption was sudden and devastating rather than a gradual change. I donāt know if it was from the phone or falling in the acid but his change into a literal puppet and mental break was likely tragically sudden. (One that, dreadfully, he probably saw coming and desperately tried to escape.)
Obsessed with freedom. Mildly claustrophobic. Doesnāt like feeling trapped.
Genuinely surprised when people care about him unconditionally. Needless to say this doesnāt happen often. Especially since heāll probably have conditions of his own. (Has no idea how to have healthy relationshipsā¦)
Has an obsession with money. Almost like a compulsive instinct he cannot deny, if you give him money heāll never leave you alone. Like feeding a dog tablescraps.
Sticky fingers. What, you think this man hasnāt stolen someoneās car muffler and pawned it for a quick buck?
Heās a salesman primarily but probably knows a thing or two about cars. Secret car nerd. I donāt have extensive car knowledge so I canāt list anything witty.
If he gives you a pipis that means he likes you. Unless he throws it at you. Those will definitely probably explode.
Has no clipped into at least seven dumpsters. He doesnāt like to talk about it.
Has multiple voices but has one in particular that stands out and defaults the most. Itās reminiscent of his old voice before he was corrupted, but something soundsā¦ off.
Thinks kindly of Kris and Noelle the most. Rarely acknowledges ralsei. Thinks susie can and will shred him like a chew toy if he tried anything.
Has a maus that hangs around him sometimes. He named it Click. He gave it cheese one time and it never truly left him alone.
This man is messy as hell and I want him to be happy is that so much to ask TOBY

My Deltarune and Danny Phantom obsession has begun to leak into each other and I genuinely canāt help but think about how much (although vaguely) Dannyās mirror character arc would that of WEIRD ROUTE Noelle.
Because, well, both of them are originally very easily frightened kids. Dannyās considered a massive coward by MOST of the kids at school. In S2 E1, when Danny has his memories wiped, we even SEE how heās genuinely react to Ghosts if he werenāt a halfa. Run away screaming .
But then I thoughtā¦ isnāt his confidence kind of superficial? Not in the way that heās, like, egotistical or whatever. His ego is very typical of a traumatized and slightly annoying teenage boy. But he GETS his confidence from fighting ghosts, aka, via violence. Sure, he has no āplayerā esque entity guiding him, BUTā¦ there IS someone who WOULD gladly take that roleā¦ā¦. (Itās Vlad, itās always Vlad)
In the later seasons, Danny becomes more pacifistic (and especially in the AGIT comic), but he started out a wimpy kid and got more confident by exerting violence against other Ghosts. Itās kind of got me wondering if his character arc would have ended up a one to one with Noelleās, had he taken on Vladās apprenticeship, or if Vlad had found out about him being a halfa earlier on.
In a way, the only reason Vlad DIDNāT get Danny under his thumb is because 1. He threatened his family, and 2. Danny had fought enough Ghosts, gotten confident enough, gotten STRONG enough, to not be as easily controlled as he otherwise would have . I dunno, just food for thought :,)
