Why is it that Sebastian seems to somehow be in control when dealing with Our Ciel, but appears to be dumbfounded when dealing with BD Real Ciel? Has something changed within this demon butler? Where is Sebastian's sneakiness, and underhanded cleverness?

The best I can tell is because Sebastian is bound to our earl in that contract, which has some wiggle room for him... and even though there's some novelty about this contract, it's not his first. He knows the loopholes in the contract and can act accordingly. And he knows what makes his young master tick.

But he's still trying to process exactly how real Ciel even functions as well as he does. He ate real Ciel's soul, but that doesn't seem to bond them together. Not like that, anyway. He's honestly confused.

He has no control over anyone who is soulless. I don't think he can comprehend their thought processes and might not be able to anticipate their moves or choices too well, because of that. Hell, he can't even tell a bizarre doll is in the same room, let alone anywhere within the vicinity, without actually seeing them. That's why he couldn't detect Arden and his friends at Weston when he used demon senses to search for them, felt weirded out when he touched Agares' hand, and couldn't locate any of the star lords at Sphere Music Hall -- they were probably simply hiding just out of sight.

This is a major learning experience for the demon. This is completely outside the purview of his knowledge. It's new to him... and kind of scary.

I should think it worries him also because he must now question what he's said in the past about not being able to get back what was lost.

Of course, what has returned isn't quite the real Ciel that our earl once knew and cherished. It's a nightmarish approximation. Merely a physical manifestation, literally without soul. But the physical manifestation still evokes deep emotions.

So, the demon finds himself in the weeds on this one. How do you handle a reanimated corpse that's "chock full of episodes"? Can you just cut it down in front of its loved ones? Our earl doesn't accept this bizarre doll of his brother as "his brother returned", but I don't think he would handle it well if Sebastian just went over and crushed real Ciel's head. He has to let his young master decide how to handle the situation.

I still anticipate their final confrontation to be more emotional than physical, between the twins. Maybe real Ciel will be more physically aggressive than our earl. And for Sebastian to be somehow barred from intervening on his young master's behalf... much like how Lucas didn't want to harm his dead and reanimated older mirror twin, Claus... and how Boney couldn't protect or fight on Lucas' behalf... during the twins' final confrontation in Mother3.

What do you think would have happened if the Undertaker did succeed in killing Sebastian? Any theories on how the plot would drastically change? Also have a good day(or)night! :) Bye!

I'm not sure what happens to demons when hit hard enough by a death scythe, but they definitely have cinematic records... and they seem to have souls. Maybe bizarre dolls are attracted to whatever is left of the souls that demons have devoured, or maybe demons actually have their own souls, too? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Either Sebastian has the ability to reform (like respawning in a game), or he doesn't. If he can get back to the human realm to finish the contract, that's what he would do. He seems to suggest, at one point (early-on), that if he were killed he would return... all due to the terms of the contract.

However, if he were killed in such a way that he could not return to complete the contract? I should think that would be the end of the series. He is canonically the main character, after all.

Isn't unusual that Sebastian couldn't sense Grell is a Grim Reaper and Undertaker in the beginning since demons are supposed to sense every supernatural being? Maybe he does know and choose to ignore or they are very experienced Reapers that can handle against demons senses?

Demon limitations (revisited)

Seems to me that the demon can’t really tell reapers from humans unless he sees their reaper eyes. At first, Grelle’s eyes were somehow disguised to look human, and I have to chalk that up to reaper abilities and theatrical tricks that Grelle knows. Clearly, Grelle is a powerful reaper.

And Undertaker at first relied on wearing his bangs and hat down low enough to cover his eyes, or at least to shade them, which didn’t seem to matter too much to Undertaker, seeing as he’s extremely nearsighted anyway. His eyes do glow as he’s first stepping out of the coffin (ripper arc), but if Sebastian noticed that at all, then he must have waved it away, since Undertaker is so eccentric.

We know that Sebastian doesn’t even realize something is way off about Agares until they touch hands, and then Sebastian realizes he’s soulless. That’s why he couldn’t track down Arden and his pals; they didn’t have souls he could locate.

But he’s interacted enough with reapers to know they don’t seem much different from humans, unless he sees the reaper eyes, so that must mean that reapers still have souls, unlike bizarre dolls. Even reapers don’t initially understand how those soulless corpses are moving around. And the bizarre dolls were attracted to the reapers, like they were to humans… and to Sebastian. Just goes to show that reapers are living beings, with souls that are being punished for their previous “crimes” of suicide.

Makes me wonder why John Brown always wears those mirrored shades. I don’t think he’s a reaper… at least not a typical one. Personally, I think he’s an angel, which could be what “superiors” are in the reaper organization. I doubt the highest levels of their organization are managed by reapers. Whatever they are, they should be truly superior to the reapers who are being punished. Anyway, he could be an angel or a fellow demon, but he has something special about his eyes. Sebastian can’t seem to change the color of his hair or his nails, and his eyes and teeth tend to switch back and forth between looking human and looking demonic. Perhaps John Brown is an angel or demon who lacks the ability to control the appearance of its eyes….

Imagine after eating Ciel’s soul Sebastian will be able to cry. Like it will turn out that Ciel’s soul is very strong, and Sebastian will feel all that he went through. Sebastian seems to value this contract, kid of

I know that #devoured soul effect… is mostly for posts about what happened when Sebastian devoured real Ciel’s soul as payment to cross into the human realm, but it also applies to what would happen if Sebastian finally devours our earl’s soul. In fact, the effect should be much, much greater after a meal like our earl’s soul….

Sounds interesting, can u link me those reasons u discussed before? And maybe UT hates Seb so much (besides cause he wants to consume o!Ciels soul) cause his appearance takes after his most beloved ppl, the nerve on this frickin demon smh 🤣🤣🤣

It’s something I’ve blogged about many times, but it’s the sort of topic that’s a bit hard to narrow down the tags for. (I’ll see if I can come up with a tag to make it easier, and then I can add it when I find my older posts that fit.) But here is probably the last time I got an ask specifically about it.

Basically, I theorize that when the demon devoured real Ciel’s soul as payment for “crossing the river”, this caused him to take on features of an adult Ciel — a combination of Vincent and Rachel. If this is true, then that would mean Sebastian’s current human form is like the adult form of our earl, too.

The biggest support I have been able to find for this is that, when he’s offering to change his appearance, all he’s changing is his clothes (sometimes including a hat and a wig), not his facial features, height, etc. I figure there must be some things about himself (in human form) he cannot control, specifically because they are informed by the soul he’s just devoured.

There are three things that definitely differ between the twins and Sebastian, though. One being his hair and nails are pitch black, which he doesn’t seem to be able to change. The second being that his hair parts down the center, instead of one side or other. Third, Sebastian is clearly way taller than either of the twins, and we have no reason to think they were expected to reach 6’1”. There might be other things, too, but those three immediately come to mind, and they might be true of his human form, regardless of the souls he devours.

And then I also theorize that there are certain things he does because of real Ciel’s soul, too... like automatically bringing his young master warm milk and honey without being prompted to do so, trying to spoon-feed his young master when Soma tells him to be “kind”, and randomly choosing to use the same recipes that Vincent, real Ciel, and Diedrich used years ago when Rachel and our earl were both ill. I don’t really consider any of that to be coincidental or random.

I’ll add some more links here as a I find them.

And I think I’ve come up with a good tag I can use: #devoured soul effect. This will be very specific to this topic of Sebastian looking like Vincent and sometimes acting like real Ciel (as big brother, etc.).

He requires that “crossing the river” fee in order to take a human form, and that human form is partly based on the appearance of the person’s soul he just devoured. The soul changes his behavior a bit, too.

The resemblance to the person who was sacrificed, as well as little details about how he acts, serve as unsettling or even jolting reminders to the summoner of what they have sacrificed to summon him.

He might not completely realize this is what’s happening... but he uses it to his advantage anyway.

When bassy break into the music hall (chapter 117 ) no one was there except elizabeth the rooms were empty (the 3 star leave to provide real ciel with blood ) but where did real ciel and ut go ? Mybey ut leaves to meet with the aristocrat from the aurora sociaty but if that's true why did he take real ciel with him ? (Sorry for my bad English)

I think they all got a tip-off, so they had gone into hiding. Undertaker may or may not have been there at the time. But someone knew Sebastian was there in time to have all the lords of the stars go into hiding.

They didn’t have to go far to hide, though... I bet, since they don’t have souls. We know Sebastian has counted/looked for souls before, like when he was looking for Arden and his friends at Purple House. Sebastian didn’t detect anymore souls in the house, and Violet said everyone was outside... but Arden and the rest were still unaccounted for. Turns out they were soulless bizarre dolls. Further evidence that the case is similar for all of the lords of the stars; it’s likely that all of them are bizarre dolls, not just real Ciel/Sirius and Polaris.

Lord Sirius’ room has a few places real Ciel could hide, including that lump in the bed itself. The room for Canopus has a hatch door in the ceiling. Vega’s room has a door that Sebastian apparently never opens. And Polaris’s room shows the bedding draped down so much that Polaris could be hiding under the bed.

If they are quiet and still enough, and since he didn’t do that thorough of a search, they could indeed get away with hiding somewhat easily... even from a demon.

I'm new to the fandom so I'm sorry if this has already been asked but why does it seem like OCiel never grows? In fact, he seems to remain "too thin" as Violet says after taking his blood, and also Nina the tailor points it out, he keeps the same measurements, even having grown thinner around the waist. Why is that? Sebastian is cetainly feeding him properly and yet he remains very small and thin. Even Sebeastian has mentioned it. Is there some reason behind this? It seems very strange...

Mun: Short answer? I theorize that the contract itself has stopped our earl’s growth... but Sebastian hasn’t even figured this out... and the thinned waist is probably from the corset he wore for a little while, even though that’s not very realistic.
