It's all happening this weekend! Yup, the #mtb stoke for @around_the_pot #100miler is running high as the #mountainbiking crowds start to focus on this premier race taking #swellendam by storm on Saturday 👏👏👏 This image from our #AroundThePot Recce with @ozone.africa and @petrichoradventures will give you an idea of the landscape, but the good news is that you'll be seeing greens and yellows all round after the rains. He's no longer a boy, I'm afraid ... Robster has over the past few years grown into a young man that marches to the beat of his own drum, and I've realised this past weekend at @leopardtrailrun that it is but a matter of time before he kicks my butt on the trails 😏😬 After some solid surf sessions in #Jbay, he joined on @theleopardtrail to help shoot the #leopardrun stage #trailrun. Over the next couple of days, he kloofed and ran around 30kays in these rugged #baviaanskloof ranges, negotiating everything from canyons, waterfall swims and sandy riverbeds, to scree-slope ascents in temps touching on 40 Degrees ☀ 🔥 He really wanted one of the @sealandgear race backpacks, so @maraiskaryn 'donated' hers to him when we got home. Half an hour later he brought it back and said he would rather earn it by running the full race next year. We're about to go into training mode, @zaneschmahl - seems #DieOom will be drinking @darlingbrew while @robert.marais captures the action 📸! Today's 2019 #Transbaviaans Repeat was supposed to be an (ever so slightly) more relaxed version of the 'world's toughest single-stage #mtb race' . It seems, however, that the @ecobound_adventures crew forgot to share this info with the riders cracking the whip along the rugged 230km via #baviaanskloof ... Merciless headwinds resulted in some jockeying for position on a grey and overcast day, with rain & single-figure temperature atop #Bergplaas, but by midday conditions began to clear a bit. #DieOom decided to go play in the primeval #Poortjie Forests, and what a blast it was 🙌🏻😊👌 The leading bunch cranked through #Langwater at pace, and banged via the midway CP just on 3pm. This set them up for a 9h25min finish at #FountainsMall in #jeffreysbay, with Team #UncleFish taking the honours in 9h25min. Mixed Category went to Team #CycloPro, with a surging ride by @traceyannecampbell, @brucecampbell87 and Jay Carneiro. Top position in the women's field went to Team #Sumeil. It's time! Nearly a year has whizzed past since @petervankets and #DieOom missioned off on their 15 000km journey into the rainforests and volcanic peaks of #Rwanda. That was our @beyondexped #BeyondTheRiftValley adventure, pretty much an endorphin high as we summitted some of Africa's highest volcanoes, paddled deep-water #RiftValley lakes & came face to face with endangered mountain gorillas 🦍 And now we're ready to roll again, this time with our families, and with no less than 6 arid regions waiting to be explored. #BEYONDAUKOEREBIS will be our 3rd Expedition into Africa's wildest places, and our @isuzusa #Xriders will be venturing via @namaquawestcoast into the #richtersveld Transfrontier National Park, #NamibNaukluft, #kgalagadi Transfrontier Park & #augrabiesfalls NP, before returning to Cape Town via the #Karoo. That's a whole load of desert right there! 🌵🌵🌵 This 4000km road trip is wholly driven by #IsuzuSA, but we're grateful to @Dunloptyressa for fitting #Treva & #Noah with their #GrandTrek #AT25 Tyres; to @spotafrica for providing tracking security; and of course to our long-standing #outdoor equipping partner, @frontrunnerza for their bombproof vehicle fittings and camping equipment.
