The small digimon fell on his back, right when the lance of the larger Digimon in front of him grazed the brim of his hat. The next scream got lost on his throat as the air exited his lungs, the impact against the ground taking his breath away.
His staff laid some meters away, and he tried to lunge at it, only to be put back with the same force as before, fighting against the Knight who had pushed him away with the end of his sabaton as if he was a small animal disobeying his owner. When he once again tried to jump out the way to the exit, a powerful gauntlet took hold of his cape and yanked.
“STAY BEHIND ME” The Knight's voice resonated inside the cave, and the beast growled with equal force. The knight then shielded himself and the small digimon when a surge of blue fire engulfed them both.
Wizardmon cursed in his mother tongue at the older digimon, frustration overcoming the fear gripping his bones with an iron fist. The heat was excruciating, it burned everything it touched on its path, but he was not ready to die, not yet.
“STOP! Stop attacking…!” It was futile; he saw the spear move forward with the speed of lightning as the knight faced the open mouth full of teeth of the beast, who tried once again to reach for the two of them. “You don’t understand! It’s her! It’s still her!”
But Gallantmon, being the strongest and stubborn Royal Knight that there was, didn’t listen to the small digimon behind him, ready to lunge forward and attack at the enraged creature blocking their only escape, getting closer and closer to them, cornering them with every step.
The claws of the dragon digimon grasped the rocks as it tried to squeeze itself like a wild animal reaching its prey, then the Knight lunged and his spear drew a bright arch over his head, effectively slicing the beast’s frontal claws, opening its flesh.
The creature howled in pain and retreated momentarily, just for the blueish fire to nearly cover them both once again. A growl echoed in the cave and hurt Wizardmon’s ears; a cacophony of pure unaltered madness.
“Iza!”
“No matter what name the creature had in its former life, is no more, you do understand?”
And Wizardmon screamed, out of fear, but also out of spiteful anger, as he pushed the armored leg of the stronger digimon while this one stood, unmoving and stoic, waiting for the creature to reach once again for them both.
He cried, staring beyond the Knight, at the blood staining the white of feathers and scales, the gigantic mouth full of teeth and sharp fangs, the bright sun outside creating a halo over the beast as if had been thrown out of the Holy Halls to chastise them all with its fire.
And he stared, trying to understand how they came to this, looking for a sign of recognition in the monster's face. But the only response he had back was the vacant eyes of the one who was once his friend.
"Although it looks like it is just pale green bubbles at first glance, it is a Bubble Digimon that can move freely and express a plethora of facial expressions (Pabumon, Digimon franchise, Bandai Wiz, 1998, Bandai & Toe Animation)."
