Hiatus
Imma be traveling for the next three days so "Thoughts On..." is going to be put on hold until Monday of next week (more specifically, July 10, 2017). I'll pick up with the episode that airs on Monday, though if one particular episode that goes live before that interests me, I may do a "Thoughts On..." revolving around it too! Stoat and Gen AI
Now I was curious and wanted to look into the whole shtick with Stoat Chat using GenAI in their code and this is what I found down below via DuckDuckGo's Search Assist and the two sources. Take the two screenshots however you want:
With all of that being said and done, and as much as I genuinely abhor Generative AI (especially as someone who has a degree in Creative Writing and English) as well as hating how NEXT TO NOBODY takes the Liberal Arts and Fine Arts seriously, I'm willing to give Stout the benefit of the doubt and here's why:
Even though Firefox has embedded Gen AI bullshittery into their browser, they have added the ability to turn off everything pertaining to the use of Gen AI because they know they fucked up.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 originally had a placeholder image made from Gen AI in it and they removed it not even a month after released because they know they fucked up. I'm still not happy about them winning GOTY, but whatever.
Stoat removed any and all Gen AI code over a month ago and owned up to their mistakes realizing they fucked up.
So, without further ado, if you'd like to give Stout a try then feel free to head over to their website and download it. It's pretty stinking similar to Discord in terms of overall setup and whatnot.
