Hiatus
Imma be traveling for the next three days so "Thoughts On..." is going to be put on hold until Monday of next week (more specifically, July 10, 2017). I'll pick up with the episode that airs on Monday, though if one particular episode that goes live before that interests me, I may do a "Thoughts On..." revolving around it too! I will also most likely not be answering asks or responding to direct messages! Cya guys in a few days!

I struggle with direct messaging as a feature on here. It feels too intimate. It freaks me out. Having conversations in this open space where I can be seen by many people...it makes me feel less weird for some reason. Tagging people constantly, replying to people's posts, it's all so much easier than DMing people. I'll direct message someone occasionally, but it's a very rare occurrence. Unless they make the first move, I'm very unlikely to even consider it an option. It is something I constantly avoid.
I think I'm afraid of it because it's just one on one conversations. And that is...I don't like it. One on one conversations are something I've been awkward about my whole life, and the only exceptions are one on one discussions with maybe my dad or something. With my therapist I do one on one too, but that's it. I never pull someone aside to ask them things privately. Are you kidding!? That's scary! That's...that's too intimate. Too personal. My dad might do it on his social media (I think he does, but I don't really ask about it), but I can't do it on mine. I can't.
I don't know if I'm the only person with this problem, but direct messaging really does intimidate me. It feels different from posting here. It feels like something I have to tell my dad about, because it messes me up. I suppose the feature could be good for strengthening friendships, but it's still a lot. It's too much for me. I don't like it at all. Not at all. This is why news about discord doesn't affect me, by the way. Any private chat thing is my nightmare. It's too much interaction in too intimate a space. I'm not someone who's capable of that stuff. sigh...
