I had this idea because I see the Robert getting ice powers AU That's all I can think about Is the idea of frostbite His mom was with ice powers that one's activated was slowly freezing her to death and tell her her heart turned to ice and she froze
Robert is constantly living in fear of activating those metaphowers If he has them because that will be a death sentence Robert getting those flowers activated after Flambae Trying to burn him to death after confessing to being Mecha man Everything falls into place The power is activate momentarily saving him but only for a moment Before there's a horrible realization all at once
He's mortified he won't be able to die in a suit anymore because freezing will kill him first,
He upgrades the suit to no longer have protection from the heat of the engines It's not enough only something to buy at the time.
Flambae Feeling incredibly guilty about what he has done tries to make amends in every way he can
There's a hug and frostbite starts to melt a little Robert doesn't feel so cold anymore and there's a moment of peace it's nice

Series Title: Twin Size Mattrasses (A Queerplatonic Roommates InvisiMecha Universe) (roommates for 12 years)
Plot Opening:
Once upon a time, a 17 year old Robert meets a 15 year old Courtney in the middle of a [spoiler] late at night.
As Mecha Man, Robert didn't want Courtney to roam around at night unsafe, especially since Courtney had no plans to rent a motel room or go back to her current foster family for the late evening.
Courtney makes a joke about him offering his own bed and Robert's like "actually I can offering my bed because I'll still be working tonight." And then Robert (still hiding in the Mech suit, hiding that he's 17) offers to Courtney, that if she ever needs a safe place to just sleep at night, she can come around to his place.
And Courtney, of course, accepts free room and board immediately and soon surprises Robert by actually coming around his place randomly, like a stray cat who, admittedly, has been given permission to break into Robert's home and disappears whenever she like.
Safe to say it doesn't take long for Courtney to discover that the famous Mecha Man Blue, aka Big Blue, is only 2 years older than her and doesn't let himself have much of a life.
Whelp! That's not her problem...actually this sad doe eyed wasian white boy is her closest friend (and basically family) so she's dragging him everywhere to experience life and not be a workaholic loser who feels 80 at 25.
Living together [a mix of them being unofficial (one bed, bigger house) and official (cannon game apartment) roommates]:
1.Ride or Die bisexual the pair of them.
Fav joke - "I know where you live, fucker!" "I know where you live fucker!"
2.Robert has been trained for many things...but having to tell his bestie that her bio dad was most likely a pedi after she unknowing casually dropped trauma lore was not one of them.
Robert never brushe off what Courtney's unknowing sexual trauma (you read that post) but he just doesn't know how to bring it up in detail.
But with the trauma lore drop, Robert is more patience with Courtney when she accidentally invades his privacy, disregards her own privacy, crosses consent boundaries and asks invasive questions.
Robert actually calls Courtney out on her shit and successfully sets boundaries while Courtney (being more impressionable at 15-20) actually works to not be a creep. She still has issues in public spaces but at home she knows the rules and the rules respect her too.
3. Courtney's ADHD has her sometimes forgets to write down the stuff she steals from Robert (he's one condition cuz he want to know if she took it or he just lost it) so there are some petty arguments there. Courtney returns most stuff of Robert's.
4. They can't actually cuddle together because Courtney kicks like a horse in her sleep and has kicked a hole in the wall by accident and Robert would like to keep his organs unbruised.
5.Courtney picks up some of Robert small bad habits -> uses 3-in-1 shampoo, has passable but sad cooking skills, sleeps more but sleeping schedule is all over the place, etc.
6. Courtney teases Robert for his corny pep talks especially after she learnt he practiced them through World of Warcraft team raids and having to give himself pep talks in the mirror (is so sad).
7.Courtney teases Robert for having a conspiracy board of flambae that was up on their wall for a month.
8.Robert hides always hides Courtney's cigs when she annoys him.
9. They make fun of each's shit taste in dates. throwing stones at glass houses behaviour.
10.They never ask each other for sensitive info about their hero and thief life but they absolute gossip. (I love little sister snitch headcannon for Courtney).
11. They have movie night Friday. They pirate movies all the time. (Movie nights become Robert's reason to live/come home before beef.)
12. Pranks war have happened because of course.
13. Robert will and has kept track of Courtney via marking her with glitter when she tries to run away from consequences.
14. They hooked up in their 20s once and it was like "great date, great sex, top notch aftercare- felt like I just had sex with my cousin- let's never do that again, but you're still my unlabelled soulmate." They have fun in the rare threesome and Cortney invites Robert to orgies sometimes and at the 1st orgy Robert got title of Throat Goat (40 in one night you know the ref).
15. When Robert moves in with Flambae (Flamecha), Courteny and Robert will be neighbours and that is not up to negotiation. (especially since the Coma).
16. They are not co-dependent (god knows they're both too independent for that). I just want family to be close and in walking distance so they can hang out whenever but still have privacy.
Small things are difficulty for me to come up with, I have list of slice of life things that I plan to write in a chronological date format for part 1 chapter 2, so feel free to share any of your thought with me. I promise to credit you for any and all inspirations!!

We all know how Robert has really bad Daddy issues of living up to his father's ambition, but imagine an alternate world where Shroud did not kill Robbie but instead abducted Robert and stealing the suit, now Robbie Robertson is the dispatcher, Robert becomes a villain called Technician, He's Shroud's boy, who hates his dad unfortunately for him after being caught both Chase Pulls him into the Phoenix program the boy to get better, Robbie initially being a retired Mecha Man missing his suit, is pulled out of retirement So he can save the Phoenix program and keep his son safe.
Robbie
Robbie recognizes that he was not a good dad thanks to Chase And now wishes to make amends with his son, he regrets, and is wishing for nothing more than to build that connection back into his life, but not knowing where to start. He doesn't want to tell the rest of the team that he's related to One of their members so Robert won't get unnecessary harassment, Well more than he already is He always tries to step in the way of Flambae going to Robert Because he's trying to be a good dad and failing.
Flambae
Flambae on the other hand He is a cherished hero kind of like blonde Blazer, his demeanor is a lot less aggressive and a lot more flirty, He's the one running to Phoenix program even basing it after his hero epithet "In times of darkness look towards the burning Phoenix." And seems to have a special interest for one of the feelings in the Phoenix program much do the dispatchers dismay, burnt Roberts left arm to the point of paralysis from the nerves
Technician AKA Robert
Robert looked up to Shroud as the person that saved him from his Dad, He has a lot of similar skills because he was also taught by a tech genius like shroud however he is a lot more of a bitter temper, arguing with flambae's flirting thinking the other is teasing him pissed off about the arm thing he wears a prosthetic shell to keep the arm going built by himself, Shroud Of course helped, Of course everyone on the team hates the new dispatcher but Robert seems to hate him more for some reason Of course they make fun of him for it, He has the Astral pulse He's just not telling anyone.
Blonde Blazer
She's the one depressed after the breakup Phenomaman is doing just fine He's going to therapy and learning about human culture He wasn't super attached to Blonde Blazer, Blonde Blaze on the other hand is having a crisis realizing that she's not into men She's even seen walking through traffic and destroying someone's car acting out in rage trying to deny it Trying to go back to compulsive heterosexuality but she can't anymore She has a lesbian woman and she'll have to live with that thankfully there's a really cute invisible woman to talk to us out.
Invisigal
She's pretty much the same but she's flirting with blonde Blazer now instead of Robert, and Robert is the one to make her her cyber enhanced lungs and not Shroud So you can keep them forever, keeping her safe from her villain ark

I can't stop imagining an AU where Robert is a single father, a girldad single father.
Except his daughter is adopted and a child mimic/failed test subject that he rescued from a lab that was experimenting on children under the project aim and name Cuckoo/Brood Parasite Spy Project.
Anyways, Robert's daughter is somewhat good friends with Invisigal before she entered the Phoenix Program, in like a big collage sister or wine/vodka aunt sort of way. And she also keeps running into the z team, and mimicking parts of their cool fashion like hair or eyes.
And with how long Robert accidentally keeps her a secret from everyone aside from Invisigal, he's just trying to come up with the funniest way to introduce his littel gremlin daughter to the z team.

A son that he never got to hug ever again a son that he wished he hugged more a son that he wished he told him he was a good kid more what's the point of legacy if you can't even push it on anymore he's alone He's terrifying alone but most of all he feels empty He wants to hurt shroud for taking away his boy but most of all he's angry at himself for hurting his own boy and he can't even make amends anymore years later in retirement he hears about this new Phoenix program initially it passes his mind without thought in retirement And then he sees it 𝗛𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝘀 𝗵𝗶𝗺, He doesn't know how or why but he finally sees his little boy again but he's grown up and he looks... So tired and worn he sees the son that he lost And he wants nothing more than to go back to the boy and tell him everything's going to be all right like he never got the chance to. He talks to Chase again things are Rocky of course they are Both of them have their lives fall apart of course Chase jokes saying that they both must be cursed, before the conversation slowly opens up and unravels itself as they both talk more about Robert and their own opinions about him Robbie learns that Robert is going by the villain name Technician and he has grown his own separate way away from Shroud but still is on good terms with him, Chase worries for Robert and confesses to the amount of pressure Robbie put onto him and how much it hurt the boy, for Robbie it's like reopening a wound that he knows He swallows his pride Chase made him a dispatcher, Robbie is nervous he's not nervous because it's his first day on the job He's more than used to doing intense work He's anxious about how Robert would react He doesn't know what to do Robert doesn't even respond to him He speaks coldly like their strangers and that hurts more than hatred he would get if his son hated him but he doesn't understand why he's so cold he does understand why, He just doesn't want to say it every time he's frustrated at the job every time he thinks about quitting he remembers what he's doing it for to finally be able to say "I'm sorry Robert." He can't do it quite yet He needs to muster up his own strength and even more he wants to make sure his son is comfortable with him first.
Bonus 3.5
Robert Robertson III every time someone uses full title he wants to throw up, he's not his dad. He never wants to be compared to him never again never ever ever ever, wind punch up mentioned That technician looks like the new dispatcher he immediately went quiet He wanted to scream he wanted to lash out and he swallowed Shroud taught him better he swallows his anger to keep a level head and he says "huh, That's strange." Brushing it off Play casual No one notices Robbie does Robbie aches, hearing the pain on Robbie's voice makes Robert have to cover his mouth to hide his smile revenge one drop at a time He wonders how he can get Flambae and Robbie argue today

Going by the theory that Invisigal was the one to strap the bomb onto Robert's Mecha Man suit-

Because of the emotional moment where Invisigal would find that Robert bought a proper bed for her, permanently making a place for her in his- their apartment, their home, instead of just lending her his bed or couch.
And because of the other emotional arc where Robert hasn't heard from Invisigal for days before his coma, during his coma, and weeks after he woke up from his coma, and he can't find her anywhere. (Because she's the SDN's villain 'rehabilitation' program of all places). And he later finds out that Invisigal had been avoiding him and their home because she had rejected Shroud's job offer and gotten the hell outta dodge instead of warning him of Shroud's plan and she feels fucked up over Robert near death being her fault.
2.Taking What's Not Yours by TV Girls
Because of the "You know where to find me. And I know where to look." line with Invisigal knowing she can always go to Robert's apartment/their home if she need him, and Robert knows her usual haunts if he's ever really worried about her, like its winter and she hasn't used his place to sleep for a long while.
Bonus: If y'all have a better name for this au I'd love to hear it. So far I feel like having twin matters in the au name. I really want to write this au, or least share bits of it here on Tumblr, but I'm gonna wait to see if we hear more of Invisigal's backstory in the coming episodes.
