When you realized the dateables, they were all ecstatic! They’re not objects anymore. Just full-pledged humans with real beating hearts. And oh. The night they spent with you— worshipping you, whispering all the right things, listening to the delightful noises you make; it was everything they imagined. The next day, you hug and wish them good luck, they set out into the world. It was exhilarating to say the least.
Yet… why is nothing going their way anymore?
(in other words, the dateables finally experience the harsh reality of the real world. moments with you and or the ones without.)
TW: Unhealthy alcohol consumption
After Eddie and Volt opened High Voltage Reality, they knew the uncharted territory they were heading into. However, they were used to the work— as the Breaker Box didn’t magically run on its own. What they weren’t expecting though, was the heavy competition. The constant fighting for houses is grueling. Unlike the Breaker Box which was only be controlled by them, houses need to be brought.
Also other real estate companies are fucking despicable. Most of them are corrupt agents who are looking for a house and naive buyers to suck the money out of. It doesn’t help that companies in the area immediately began to target High Voltage Reality, as they basically appeared out of nowhere and stole their customers (to which Volt calls bullshit; it’s not they’re fault he’s suave with his words). Any time Eddie set his sights on a house, other corrupt companies would swoop in last minute, successfully snatching it right out of their hands.
The smug smirks tugging at their lips as these agents sign off on the deal was irritating. Especially when they purposely pass by Eddie with a shove by their shoulder.
“Guess the two hotshots really were just a fluke.”
Safe to say it pissed Eddie and Volt the hell off.
But live wire. Oh, their lovely live wire— was such a darling and helped with whatever they needed. When Eddie was swamped with documents, you would bring him nutritious food and a cup of water. Wordlessly taking away the mug full of coffee, ignoring Eddie’s protests. Then you kiss him on the forehead, smoothing out the furrow of his eyebrows. Eddie would then grumble, but simply melt into your touch.
Volt took better care if himself compared to his lover, often drinking in moderation to burn the stress away. Sometimes you would participate with a few shots, other times you wouldn’t, opting to listen to Volt’s complaints about nefarious companies. If he got too heated, you’d pull him to an empty spot of the floor and dance! Similar to what he did in the Break Box. He could feel the love pouring out of his chest as he spun you around.
Then your letter came in. Eddie and Volt had never yelled at each other more. It was comparable to the fights about Eddie’s faulty wire. But this time it involved you. They both know being rational never comes easy when you’re in the picture. A person who they trusted with their whole being was gone.
That night, after their voices turn raw and the room is cleaned up, they separate to give each other space. Yet they continue to stay in the same room. Because, at the end of day they still have each other to fill the empty space you left behind.
(Eddie continues to fill required documents, staring at the blinding computer screen and scribbling nonsensical bullshit he’ll forget in a week. His mind to drifts to you. Even as his eyes become blurry, posture begins to slump, and hands stiffen. You’d frown at the state he’s in. But regardless, your gentle fingers would rake through his rough hair. Eddie leans into your touch as you giggle at his reaction, softly scolding him about taking care of himself. He’d just hum, basking in the warmth you’ve always carried. So, despite the sun ripping Eddie away from his dream, casting a soft glow on him through the blinds— he couldn’t have felt any more cold.
Maybe if he tries hard enough, he can pretend the warmth is from you instead.)
(Volt continues to drink, except an excessive amount. It was too easy. Too easy to throw back shot after shot. He could feel the burning sensation as they glide down his throat. The room spins once again and hiccups escape his lips. Through his eyes, he pictures you leaning against him, taking shots with him as well. You mock him with no bite, asking if he really was a heavyweight like he said. Volt would heartily laugh because it was just too easy if it’s you. “I love you,” Volt manages to slur.
But the words never echo back.)
To be quite honest, becoming a professor at a university never crossed Dolly’s mind. She has two PhD’s and three black belts. Hell, she was even selected to model in a magazine— when she was still an object too!
Regardless, Dolly would say she adjusted really well to her circumstances. The campus is huge but within her smarts, it was a easy memorizing the college map. Her boss and coworkers are very welcoming. Plus, the janitors are absolute sweethearts! Students respect the boundaries of a student and teacher, while also addressing her correctly (she realizes her name isn’t that common). The phone usage could be toned down a bit… but for the most part, the students seemed to be raised right!
It’s finally the end of the semester and Dolly wants to evaluate how she did. Did she teach her students well enough? Dolly hopes so, as her class averages are well above normal. To gather some opinions, she creates an online survey with multiple choice questions, short answers, and unlimited words. A quick announcement during her class, and some of her students already submitted!
Dolly settles into her desk, beginning to open the answered forms. What she saw however, nothing like she was expecting.
“Tone down the southern accent lol it’s rlly grating to my ears”
“I recommend XYZ shampoo and conditioner to help with ur frizzy hair. The thickness bothers me.”
“Ur wasting ur looks teaching.”
“Our assignments take while to be graded every single time. Are you sure you’re not just watching tv shows or playing dress with your outfits instead? LMAO”
Dolly continued to read more and more submissions as they rolled in. She scoffed, lips curling into a scowl at the blatant disrespect. Her ears pick up the muffled laughter and crude looks being shot at her in class. Then when class finally end, leaving her alone with her thoughts, is when Dolly’s shoulders shook.
What the hell did she just read? All she wanted was honest opinions. Instead she gets insulted behind a screen…?
Dolly is in too deep, to a point where she didn’t realize her eyes began to water. She tries to wipe them away with conviction but they relentlessly fall. Hiccups escape from her lips as she sinks into her chair, snatching the jacket hanging from it. Dolly’s fingers dig into the cloth, hoping these grueling thoughts would just disappear.
(The jacket belonged to you. Originally at least.
The two of you were having a cute date. A small picnic at sunset. Trying to acquire a teaching certificate is a more daunting task Dolly couldn’t have imagined. So it was surgery heaven seeing her lover face-to-face again. Unexpectedly though, the dust bunny wasn’t expecting the sudden chill in the air. The wind picked up, and Dolly shivered.
Your jacket landed on her shoulder with a ‘plop’. Dolly blinks. Not long after, a protest bubbles on the tip of her tongue as she turns to you, eyebrows pitched together.
“Just keep it,” you gaze with an unbelievable tender look in your eyes. “You look lovely in it.”
That was enough to shut Dolly’s thoughts down. It was also enough flattery for her to punch you in the shoulder. She laughs at your whining, consciously tugging the soft jacket closer to her skin.
Right now though, Dolly wishes the jacket would swallow her whole, and drag her back to the time where she could still see you.)
TW: objectifying (if uncomfortable with this topic PLEASE skip for your own mental health), cheating? only kissing tho (due to unestablished boundaries), unhealthy coping mechanism
Tina didn’t have the best first impression of you. An anti-social house owner who just got dumped by some techy company. One moment you’re suave and smooth, and the next moment, you utter something ridiculous! Her secretive triangular diary was even compromised because of you! Sure, she might’ve left it there on purpose. But only because you were clueless picking up on her cues.
And fine. Sure. Maybe it was fun.
(It was always fun with you.)
So when your letter arrived unknowingly carrying the weight of two fragile hearts, Tina had the decency to read the first paragraph. Then didn’t hesitate to rip it in half. After she was done with her high pitched screams, huffs of deep rooted anger, and dumping anything that reminded her of you— she turned to other way of letting her frustrations.
The new season of Love Triangle wouldn’t start for another month anyway.
She began to… sleep around a lot. Well. Tina labels it as ‘sleeping’ with another, however, it wasn’t the case at all. Every night like clockwork she was bring in someone new. Someone fresh. (Someone not like you.) They’d talk. They’d drink. Then suddenly they’re all over each other. Lips locked with one another as moans and indecent noises fill the air. But just as the other person gives a signal to continue further, Tina feels bile rise in her gut, shoving them away with a force of a hurricane.
This scenario was no different. Like her previous adventures, just his hands begin to travel down to the clips of her dress, her mind flashes images of (you you you. because you’re always there, lingering in the back of her mind)— the man is abruptly shoved back as Tina heavies. She slides off his lap with gritted teeth, telling him to scram. However, her date seemed to be a stubborn one. He argued back, and when Tina screamed at him to leave again, he invaded her space.
(But you would’ve never done that. She hates how easily she pictures you: standing behind her, waiting. Patient. You understood her.)
A shadow was casted on her due to his height. Tina scowled, prepared to give the same aggressive reaction that drove her other standees. When she finished, her date just gave an uncanny smile. He gathered his things quietly. Tina huffed, about to make a snide comment until he spoke again.
“I hope you know you’re only good for your body. Do you honestly think people genuinely stay for your fucked up personality?”
Even after he left and Tina laid on the coach, his words echoed in her ears. She bit her lip. She began to tap her foot on the ground. Yet his nauseating words continued to infiltrate her thoughts. Tina feels her stomach flip and she hunches over, gagging on air as she covers her mouth. Tina heaves.
What he said isn’t true. He couldn’t be further from the truth. This basic ass bum doesn’t know shit.
But you do. You know everything about her.
Tina can only hope you aren’t like him. If that’s the case, she’s been living in a lie this whole time. She gazes at the torn paper underneath her feet.
At least you aren’t here.
You aren’t here to confirm her delusions about your relationship. (The fear that you only stayed to satisfy your desires. Not to willingly deal with her snappy attitude, imagination, and everything else.)
Good. She hopes you never come back.
(Your letter remains underneath the couch, beginning to collect dust. It was barely being held together by messy strips of scotch tape.)
a/n: so if you haven’t noticed the issues these dateables have it’s—
Eddie & Volt —> business competition and corruption
Dolly —> whatever the hell teachers have to deal with rude ass students these days (also loosely based on what happen to my middle school teacher)
Tina —> sexual objectification of women
For Tina’s scenario, I understand it’s a uncomfortable topic, but it’s also a very real situation that happens. I personally have ever experienced this specific scenario. I’ve tried to based this on other experiences and slight imagination to try to make this as realistic as possible. So please if this is displayed as offensive tell me. I will straight up delete her part if it’s too much.
Otherwise I hope u enjoyed the angst lol. Also if the information I wrote abt their Realization is wrong,, I’m still playing the game! I’ve seen clips for their endings tho so I’m using my imagination to fill in the gaps hehe,, OH DONT FORGET TO SEND ME ANY IDEAS U GUYS HAVE OF THIS AUU I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR IT!!
