Crazy Theory: The past and the First Dark Fountain
Okay, what I'm about to tell is too far-fetched even for me, but let's talk about it anyway: I think I know what happened to Kris, Dess, and this Fountain, but to find out, we first have to delve into their past.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
It all begins when Kris is adopted by the Dreemurrs and, along with Asriel, becomes friends with the Holidays. A few years later, Kris and Noelle grow up and befriend Catti, with whom Kris performs a ritual to summon a demon.
What young Kris didn't know then was that this would cause them trouble later on.
As the story progresses, Kris encounters the same creature one day, who leads them through the forest and causes them to get lost, until they reach a place: the first Dark Fountain. Intrigued, Kris enters and is shocked by what they find there. Then they decided to go back to tell everyone about it, but since they got lost the monsters found them and they got scold. Kris tried to tell them what happened, but no one believed them, until paranormal events occurred in Noelle's house due to the creature's influence, which made Asriel and the Holiday sisters believe them and accompany them to find it.
They search for days, in the cemetery, at the lake, but find nothing. Asriel and Noelle give up the search, but Kris and Dess persevere until they find it. They follow it, and Dess leaves a trail of breadcrumbs so they can find their way back if they get lost.
The two continued on their way until they found the first Dark Fountain and entered it, but that was the beginning of the tragedy.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Get ready, here comes the crazy part:
I think Kris and Dess got caught up in the events of the “Earthbound: Halloween Hack”, or rather, they entered a Dark World based on it, with new characters based on Varik and Dr. Andonuts.
Let’s remember that Toby likes to use old elements from his previous games and hacks to reboot and create new things, so this could be the case here.
In the Hack's story, Varik is a bounty hunter hired to investigate the murder of a young girl’s parents. His mission is to take down the monster. Varik, with the help of a PLAYER, they do so and discover the culprit is a crazy Dr. Andonuts, who lost his sanity after losing Jeff and his friends. He was responsible for creating and unleashing various monsters to kill everyone. Confronting him, both end up entering the doctor's mind through a machine, a Magicant (similar to a Dark World), and there they witness the doctor's entire history. His past and his descent into madness. At the end of the story, Varik and the PLAYER have no other choice but to kill the doctor.
Now, there's another game that Toby made called "peepee.exe", where there's a small part of the story that continues this thing between Varik and the Doctor.
I'm going to include some of the dialogue so you can understand:
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Getting back, my point is: Kris and Dess entered this Dark World based on all of this and something terrible happened. This resulted in Dess being trapped inside, the human probably sacrificing to seal the Dark Fountain, Kris ending with the SOUL like this, and everything else that happened with Asgore (who probably followed the children using the breadcrumbs or was alerted by Kris).
That's why I think the person Kris has been trying to remember is perhaps a new character based on Varik or Dr. Andonuts.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Yes, I know.
This is the craziest thing I've ever come up with, but there you’ve it.
Dr. Andonuts telling the crew about Jeff wetting the bed is a multiple choice nightmare cause he hasn't seen his son in 10 years so either like:
A) Snow Wood notified him of Jeff having a problem with wetting the bed
B) He's telling Jeff's friends about something he used to do as a baby like it's still going on
C) He made that up on the spot to use as an icebreaker
A few edits i made for my EarthBound 20XX AU if it had a romhack
Lovesick effect and call screen for Jeff
The Lovesick effect can only affect Jeff, but works the same as Ness' Homesick effect and can be cured by calling Tony. In EarthBound 20XX, Paula can also get homesick, as an additional feature to justify all the kids except Poo having mobile phones in this AU. Her call screen looks the same as Ness'.
In EarthBound 20XX, Jeff and Tony have recently started dating as of the events of EarthBound and Jeff will start to miss Tony if not kept in touch with him. Calling Tony at least once in your playthrough will also replace the dialogue where Tony feels like a nuisance for trying to call Jeff with a dialogue where he's happy to hear about Jeff and to know he missed him on their adventure. Maxwell will save your game like he does when you first play as Jeff.
The call screen appears when you either have Jeff at the top of the party by having Ness and Paula unconscious and then using a stationary telephone/payphone or by using Jeff's phone from the inventory. The same goes for Paula's call screen, where she has to be on top of the party or by using Paula's phone from the inventory.
Each party member will also be able to use the phone of another member to call their contacts, in the case of Ness and Paula you'll read their names before the parents' contacts in the call screen, Jeff's call screen will stay unchanged. The Escargo Express will have the usual Tracy dialogue when Ness calls, otherwise there will be a generic dialogue for the other members.
Alternate outfits for Jeff and Tony and New Chosen Four on top of Mt. Itoi
These are for another hypothetical romhack taking place in the same AU, 4 years after the events of EarthBound. In this second entry, Giygas wants to eliminate every reality in which George has stolen the information about the PSI, so the New Chosen Four have to travel to an alternate reality, where Ninten and his friends haven't defeated Giygas yet.
Jeff and Tony don't wear their school uniforms during the game, but instead personal casual outfits. (Ignore them still wearing their uniforms in the screenshot edit, it was made before i made the seperate sprite edits)
Tony will be a party member in this entry, with his weapon of choice being a crossbow, which he can assist Ness and Paula in their PSI attacks with by shooting a bolt through the PSI. This will work with PK Thunder, PK Freeze and PK Fire. This will cause the original PSI damage along with the crossbow damage and a bonus from the charged bolt. This serves as compensation for him not being able to use PSI. Additionally, due to his connection to Jeff, he can use bottle rockets as well.
While the prophecy for the most part has remained the same as last time, it is revealed that there is a vital difference. The difference being one of the kids being replaced by another, Poo is being replaced by Tony as he has to tend to his royal duties as prince of Dalaam. Additionally, Tony is chosen because, while he does know about the trauma Giygas has caused the original Chosen Four, he hasn't experienced said trauma, which gives him an advantage in the final boss fight as Ness, Paula and Jeff will recieve a "Traumatized" effect, which causes their offense to drop significantly and their defense to rise slightly, while Tony gets the "Protective" effect, in which he'll occasionally take attacks directed at the others and both his offense and defense rise significantly.
Dr. Andonuts has found a way in which time travel doesn't destroy the human body and refined the phase distorter to also hop between realities while travelling through time.
During their hike on Mt. Itoi, Ness gets a call from his father and it's revealed that in their reality, Ness' father has defeated Giygas before, along with Dr. Andonuts, who are then revealed to be Ninten and Lloyd. Ninten reveals that the lullaby he has sung to Ness as a baby are the original Eight Melodies, the same lullaby that Maria sung to Giygas, and the only way to defeat him.
Ness will tell the others so they know what exactly to sing when they need to. If you decide to choose the sing option as Tony, who is known for having a beautiful singing voice and enjoying singing but also for losing his voice when anxious, there's a big chance you'll get a textbox saying "Tony tried to sing the Eight Melodies, but he lost his voice."
Hello there, I find your theory about John Brown is a supernatural being in disguise is interesting me, because I don't believe that Undertaker will be the final antagonist but will face to face with Sebastian and Our!Ciel since his main goal is to restore the Phantomhive family and we still don't know who killed Rachel and Vincent, kidnapped the twins and burned their mansion. Also, in Season 1, John Brown was replaced with Ash/Angela who was a fallen angel and the one who cause the Phantomhve family's demise. If John Brown was indeed a supernatural being and was involved with the Phantonhive's death, I imagined him being a dangerous third party like how Ash/Angela became a very dangerous villain that made both demons which is Sebastian and reapers to join forces to stop the fallen angel. I don't know if the whole "snuff out the unclean, snuff out the unnecessary and snuff out the unwanted" will became canon, but let's just wait for another plot twist in thr climax.
Speaking of season 1, in the episode "His butler: Engaging the Servants", Finnian said that birds were his only friends, and since we probably get closer to Finny's past in the manga, could it be birds symbolizes his desire for freedom? Because I always heard this simile, " As free as a bird." What do you think of this?
Also, in the last episode of season 1, Sebastian said that his true form is unsighty, disgusting and repulsive. I personally think that he wasn't wrong that his true form is quite horrible for human eyes to see, i mean, having an eldritch like body with hundred of eyes is far from the word beautiful. Not to mention that Ash/Angela's reaction and how they were terrified implies that Sebastian can easily shred them in pieces which he actually did to that mad fallen angel (and also the cultist that killed R!Ciel in the manga)
(I'm completely aware that I often compared season 1 of the anime with the manga because some of them were nearly the same. Idk about season 2)
