Any thoughts on the rest of erets crew? Do you think they knew each other or just more of a 'all assigned to this ship, unfamiliar' by drago?

to answer you question, I think it's a mix of both. Eret does state in a test animation that he is "last in a long line" of the finest dragon trappers ever. I'm dubious on this, he could be lying to exaggerate himself/make himself sound better than he actually is. but also, I love there being some small amount of truth in that? so I like to think that Eret came from a dragon trapping business. maybe he does have friends from his old village within the crew?
I think that certain crews had to merge/get new people added/assigned to account for casualties and other reasons. for Eret's crew I theorise this was the case, you have the people who were originally recruited into the business when you need more men, you ask and get assigned them. this is how Kova and his sister joined Eret. Eret wasn't captain when he met Kova, but was definitely a promising candidate to become the next first mate.
yes, I am the sole weirdo who's standing in the corner, shrieking about the trappers. we get brief mentions of their lore and dynamics between one another in the httyd2 art book, but I need to know more!! we were robbed of a scene where the trappers were hanging out at a firepit and talking like cowboys. also, the concept art of Eret's fort with all the rooms in it? I'm absolutely insane about the trappers, living off literal crumbs. (if anyone has some Eret/trapper fics hmu 🤞)
