Draken was sitting in a hospital bed. It's been a few days since the surgery already, but he still wasn't allowed any guests beside the immediate family—and since he had none, he’d been all on his own. The nurses were helping him with everything: sitting up, eating, or using the bedpan. The pain in his abdomen lessened by the day, but there was still no discussion about trying to get up from bed.

He was honestly concerned. Not being able to see Mikey was worrying him, but he had hope in the Toman Capitans to keep him at bay—at least until he recovered enough to receive guests. And finally the day has come; the nurses informed him there are multiple people wanting to see him. Of course, Draken thought, smiling to himself. His friends were dope; he missed them a lot. He also wanted to know how the brawl with Mobius went and if someone besides him got hurt.

He was drawn away from his thoughts when the door opened. Draken’s confusion quickly turned into realization. He rolled his eyes; of course Mikey probably threw a fit that he “wants to be the first one to see Ken-chin”. Draken could practically hear him arguing with everyone else as he imagined the scene. Even though he was kinda hoping to see his friends like Mitsuya, Baji, or even his girlfriend, Emma, seeing Mikey first wasn't an unpleasant surprise. He was rather happy his best friend's face was the one he saw first.

Mikey looked less composed than usual, his eyes widening with contained joy when he looked at Draken.

“Yo, Mikey,” Draken started, his voice calm and confident. But Mikey ignored it; he took a few shaky steps until he found himself on the side of Draken's bed. He looked quite distraught and slowly raised his hands. They hovered above Draken's shoulders and then finally in quick desperate motion Mikey threw his arms around Draken's neck, hugging him tight. To Draken it felt desperate, the way the boy was clinging to him. He gently put his arms around Mikey's back to bring him even closer while Mikey rested his head on Draken's shoulders. His hair was tickling Draken cheek, but he didn't comment on it.

Mikey’s body felt warm. Draken wished to never let go, for losing this warmth would be quite sad. Mikey’s breath was uneven as he tried to hold back tears, but now Draken could feel him calming down in his embrace.

“Ken-chin, I can't lose you,” Mikey pleaded, his voice soft and shaking.Mikey must have been so scared, Draken thought as he started to gently pat his friends back.

Mikey finally let go of his neck but didn't move away. He raised his head. The boys’ foreheads were practically touching. Their eyes met and Draken’s breath got caught in his throat. The way Mikey was looking at him, it was so... He couldn't put it into words; he could feel his breath against his face. Warm, faintly sweet; Mikey loved sweets, after all.

After what felt like forever Mikey moved his face ever so slightly, his lips brushing against Draken's. There was barely any contact, but to Draken, it burned. His vision went white for a second. And then in a brief, too-sudden movement, he pushed Mikey away.

“Dude, what the fuck?!?” His voice broke and his face was hot, the touch of Mikey's lips too vivid for his comfort. He nearly immediately bent in half, the pain stinging in his scar keeping him upright.

Mikey's head fell down to his hand and he started to shake. His laugh came next, first silent, then growing louder and louder. He threw his head back, tears nearly streaming from his eyes.

“Bwahaha! My God, Ken-chin! Hey, hey, tell me, is this really all I need to do to get you so worked up?” Mikey teased between cackles.Draken pretended to look pissed, but he couldn’t help but crack a smile.“Fuck you, Mikey.”And that was all.

The two started to bicker again, just as they’ve always.
