GUIDE TO HAPPY(ISH) ACADEMIC YEAR
Okay, Apologies for not posting and abandoning my 100 days of productivity. The person I was trying to prove was wrong was right (Not a very common occurence 😉😛). ANYWAYS I want to have a little chat with you all.
So as a human who has been in education for 13 years I think I would be able to give you some advice on how to have a happy(ish) academic year, I admit that this is mainly for myself so that I can take my own advice but I figured that some of you may benefit from this so please read it!
Although it is important to get good grades and succeed it is not the end of the world if something doesn't quite go to plan.
Allow yourself to feel annoyed and angry at yourself for not doing "good enough", I get it, I have freakishly high expectations for myself aswell but it's absolutely crucial to remember that you can throw a pity party for yourself for about an hour or so and then you need to get back to work.
GETTING BACK TO WORK DOES NOT MEAN YOU SPEND EVERY WAKING AND SPARE MINUTE OF YOUR LIFE DOING WORK! You need to take care of your mind and body, both psyhically and emotionally. No one is perfect. Relax, read a book, watch a film, nap, listen to music, whatever calms you down (So long as it isn't illegal) If you have trouble doing that you could maybe try this app called headspace? I haven't tried it personally but I've heard good things about it.
You cannot be good at everything; it simply isn't possible. Remember that.
If you think you would be more productive in an hour if you spent it your local/school library rather than at home or somewhere you could easily get distracted and procrastinate then try and go to the library as much as possible then once you have finished you'll have the rest of the day to yourself.
