I just saw a TikTok about how Gen Z isn't drinking as much as older generations and the reactions to it are kind of baffling to me. Like so many older people acting as if drinking is some fact of life. Saying shit like "80% of the people I knew at that age drank" and "What's their problem cant they just have a drink" or the wine mom attitude of like "I don't understand, any situation can be imporved with wine" Like living without alcohol is completely unfathomable to them. Like do I think its interesting that Gen Z doesnt drink as much? Yeah, theres a larger, interesting conversation to be had. Gen Z has become weirdly puritanical, and I wonder if not drinking could be a part of that cultural shift, but I also dont think the response should be "Its so crazy that Gen Z doesnt drink all the time like we do"
