Personal post to revisit when I need a reminder why going to NYC to see a Broadway show is a bad idea:
The tickets are a minimum of $200, but I’d want better seats.
Ticket price doesn’t include the round trip train tickets or gas.
Nor does it include the hotel room we’d need.
Speaking of food, my restrictions make it very difficult to buy restaurant meals or packaged snacks without triggering a flare or hypertensive crisis.
Muscle spasms start after 40 minutes of travel. I’d need to be doped to the gills to make it the 5-hour, one way trip. And that’s if we don’t meet traffic.
Anxiety (fear of spasms, or crisis, or any recurring or new symptom, really) any time I’m outside the house essentially makes enjoying anything impossible.
Recovery time would be literal weeks.
We’ve never been to New York before.
How much of the city is handicap accessible?
Does the theater have handicap parking?
If we took to the train, we’d have to leave the new car overnight.
Daisy doesn’t let anyone take care of her that isn’t us. At the vet, she digs in the cage until she rips her nails out. When we’ve tried dog sitters, she’ll let them feed her, but won’t let them hook her up to her leash or put on a harness.
Partner isn’t a fan of musicals.
Seeing a show for a specific actor is never a good idea because what if they’re sick? Or call out? Or have an emergency? You did all this for nothing.
Daisy’s separation anxiety would make my anxiety worse.
The medication I’d need to make the trip would make me extremely sleepy and possibly even need to sleep.
Partner goes to bed at 7:30, which is the time the show starts.
Unless we see a matinee, but then Partner would need to take time off, making it even more difficult to pay for.
