The key to all diets is a caloric deficit of your goal is weight loss. While we can argue the merits of each named diet, this fact remains unchanged. You have to burn more calories than than eat each day to lose body fat. The real trick is to do this in a healthy way, not starve your body of vital nutrients. A slight caloric deficit while eating high quality food, plus consistency is the key to healthy weight loss. It will take time to lose weight in a healthy way so have some patience.
I’m currently using a combination of fasting and eating paleo/primal, and seeing great results. I eat two big meals each day, one in the morning and one at night, sticking within my circadian rythm (sunrise to sunset). My meals are generally high fat, moderate protein, and low carb. I have found that for me, this is working well and I’ve haven’t had the urge to binge because I’m overrestricting my food choices. Also, keep yourself fucking sane by having a slice or two of pizza!
I’m also a believer in my own workout plans and currently I’m doing the Tactical Athlete I. The combination of that program (strength and endurance) and eating clean has proved a perfect training cycle.
