They weren't murdered, however, something happened and they died

The both escaped

One died in the tower and one escaped

Given that Judge Crater, Roanoke, and the Dyatlov Pass Incident are credibly solved, though not 100% provable, I'm leaving them out in favor of things ,ore mysterious. I almost left out Amelia Earhart, but the evidence there is sketchier.

Some people were a little confused. Edward V and Richard of Shrewsbury are the Princes in the Tower.

There are three separate characters named Edward in the series, two of which are exclusive to the anime

Edward Midford is the only manga canon ‘Edward’ but there is also Edward V, the deceased king from season 1 episode 16 and Edward Abberline from season 2

Edward V (Edward the fifth) is rather obviously based on the former king. That said, the real Edward V had a sister named Elizabeth, much like the manga canon Edward M. does! Unfortunately, the only siblings of his to make it to the anime was Richard.

Edward Abberline is the twin brother to Fred Abberline (though in the first season, he mentions that he does not have any siblings…). He also has a real life counterpart as the real Fredrick Abberline also had a brother named Edward

Edward Midford was incorrectly given blue eyes in Book of Atlantic (his anime debut) but they’re green in season 4! Yana Toboso has also stated (in the third and fourth art books as well as in a twitter post) that he is “very handsome and looks like his mother, Frances.” This has aided in theories of what Cedric K. R. might look like.

Edward M. also wears whatever his sister picks out for him! Yana Toboso notes that they have a “very delicate brother-sister-relationship” as he looks up to Elizabeth a lot for her great fencing skills. She has also said that she wishes she could go into more detail with Edwards backstory as she was limited by page numbers in chapter 77.
