Tumblr put a content label on my post over some pink strawberries so I had to copy the request This was requested from @b1rd-0f-w4r “I saw requests are open so I'm here :D Can we request original ocs of yours? Then it would be pretty fun for the 2 elves to *try* to teach reader their language, to a foreign reader that knows nothing about their language.. Language barriers are pretty fun to write ^^”

You were huddled up underneath a blanket against the wall. You had tried to great as much space as possible from the two elves and you. Even though the bed was quite large, it didn’t seem enough. The elf closest to you tilted his head as his eyes racked over your form. He was the most mischievous one, and while the other was more dangerous in terms of magic and all that, Sigurd was the one you feared the most. And with good reason.
“I’m bored!” Sigurd whined as he threw his head back, causing his long blond hair to fall from his shoulders in rivers of liquid gold. He never seemed to be able to sit still and his restlessness only caused you unease.
The other elf only scoffed and rolled his eyes. In his hands were a thick tome filled with poetry. The words on the covers were totally unintelligible. Eilif’s green-yellow eyes flickered to yours. Their intensity sending a shiver down your spine. He sighed loudly before he resumed his reading.
Eilif’s disinterest in Sigurd boredom only made him more whiny as he dramatically collapsed over your blanket. “He is ignoring me again… Can you believe that?” his tail flickered playfully behind him. “But you will entertain me, won’t you?” sky blue eyes looked up at you pleadingly.
“Stop harassing her. She can’t stand your presence anymore than what I do” the black haired man snapped.
Sigurd didn’t seem to get hurt by his words and only tugged on your blanket. “Aren’t you humans supposed to be kind?”
“Can you please leave me alone….?” your voice was meeker than what you would have liked, but knowing what kind of bullshit Sigurd could suddenly do was too much a risk to act out. He might look a lot friendlier than Eilif, but he was so much more sinister.
“Agh! You are no fun!” he rolled over onto his back with his face facing Eilif’s book. A sudden lightbulb seemed to have ticked off in his sick head and he suddenly sat up. Eilif grumbled at his sudden movements, but Sigurd couldn’t care less. “Oh I have an idea!” he tore the book from Eilif’s hands before he waved it in front of you. A whine popped out of Eilif’s forehead and you were sure he would strangle the man.
“Why don’t we teach our lovely little human some of our language?” the blond elf chimed. To your surprise a small smile formed on Eilif’s lips at the idea.
“Now that’s not a bad idea… I can’t remember the last time you had an idea this good.”
“Hey! That’s rude!”
“Ehh… I’m not so sure tha—”
“Oh don’t be a killjoy sweetheart!” Sigurd interrupted you as he ripped your blanket off as he forced your legs down from where they had been shielding you. “We always try our best to understand human culture, so it’s only fair you try to understand ours!” You didn’t say that the had literally kidnapped you against your will and their way of understanding human culture was not exactly something you had ever asked for.
You tried to show him off you, but he didn’t budge.
“We should start with something easy” Eilif was suddenly at your side, blocking your route to escape. “Hmm… Oh how about this: we can teach you basic greetings first.”
“That’s boring.”
“Shut up.” “Can you try to say: ‘Hello my name is [Name]?’” the language he spoke in was beautiful and melodic. You had heard them speak the elvish language before, especially when they were discussing matters concerning you.
You blinked at him with big eyes. It didn’t seem to difficult. “Okay… Uhm… ‘Hello me name is [Name].’”
“Hmm not quite, but good job!” the black haired elf gave your head a gentle pat as if you were his pet (which wasn’t too far from the truth).
“Boring!” Sigurd pressed his hand on Eilif’s face and pushed him away earning him a hiss from the man.
“Do that again and I will bite your hand off” Eilif’s lips were drawn back in a sneer, revealing his long and sharp fangs.
“Ooooh scary…” Sigurd held his hands up in a mocking expression. “‘You look extremely handsome.’ Can you say that?” his grin obnoxious.
You hesitated, but upon seeing no visible reaction from Eilif — the more sensible of the due — you decided to try. “‘You… lock extreme handsome?’”
“No, ‘you look extremely handsome.’”
“‘You look extremely handsome.’”
“Yay! You did it!” Sigurd leaned forward and gave your cheek a big wet smooch. “You are a natural!”
“So… what does it mean?”
“You look extremely handsome!”
“Oh.” Of course you should have seen that coming.
“‘I love you.’ Can you say that?” Eilif’s expression was serious and his deep voice a bit lower.
Your gaze flickered from the two of them. They were both staring at you with emotions you didn’t want to try and understand. “‘I love you…’” something didn’t feel right as the words fell from your lips. You had a suspicion of the words meaning, but you didn’t want to say it out loud.
From my AU Where Sigurd dies when Eivor is 10 Called
I've Got You
This is the day they leave Fornburg for England

“EIVOR!!!! COME OUT HERE YOU CURSED DOG OF THE RAVENS CLAN!”
So it began…
A gentle hand touched her arm, another her back. Randvi leaned into her, their brows pressing. The hand on her back worked up and down under her cloak, fingers pressing into taut muscles down her spine.
“This is not your battle, Eivor. You have been nothing but a dutiful daughter. Proud and honorable.” Randvi tipped her chin up, their eyes met. The most beautiful color she could imagine met hers. Touched her, held her enraptured. “It is our fight now my love.”
“I CALL YOU EIVOR!”
“What we do we do with King Styrbjorn’s knowledge if not his blessing. He does not begrudge you this. You owe Dag nothing.”
Randvi’s hand slipped down to her’s covering it. Holding her. “Leaving without answering him shows strength on your behalf, not weakness Eivor. He is getting everything he ever wanted and still he can not let you leave in peace. Do not answer his call my love. Please, let there be no bloodshed between us and Fornburg.”
“EIVOR! YOU TROLL’S ARSE! BRING YOUR HONORLESS SACK OF SHIT OUT HERE!”
Randvi’s hand tightened as the muscles in Eivor’s jaw did.
“You are without reproach, and you are stronger than he will ever be. That is why I chose you. I chose you, Eivor.”
“YOU DO NOT HAVE THE BALLS TO FACE ME!”
The kiss that Randvi gave was the sweetest balm she had ever known. Her strong love thick and rich like honey, the healers touch to her betrayed heart. She leaned into it, pulled her wife closer, let herself be drowned in its radiant glory.
“We are ready Jarlsoknas.” The warm gravel of Gunnars voice interrupting them.
Eilif gave Eivor a questioning look, a worried expression. Eivor stole one last kiss before she shouldered her travel bag.
“All the supplies we need for the trip are packed and no more?” Eivor asked.
“Yes my Jarl.”
“Good. We will not strip our loved ones of their livelihood and wealth.” Her eyes shifted to Randvi. “We will find our own riches soon enough.” She cast a final look across the home she shared with her wife and sister one last time before they moved for the portal.
Gunner stepped to one side of her, and Eilif the other. She paused then, feeling Randvi lean into her back. Her words a whisper. “Let them.”
The tension in her shoulders softened a little. She stepped forward again.
“Have we heard from Nott’s ship?”
“It awaits us at the mouth of the Fjord.” Gunnar responded, taking up step with her again. “They did not want to agitate Harold’s men.”
“Seems we all walk with soft boot’s this day.” Eivor smirked. She didn’t know Nott of all people had it in her to not step into a fight.
“It is the wise hunter that gets the prey, my Jarl.”
“You are right Gunnar.”
“EIVOR! You leech!”
Her stride did not break even as Dag tried to get a rise from her. Confident in his larger frame, blinded by his superior size and misplaced anger to know she would slaughter him. She did not even recognize him as they headed for the docks.
“Sucked all the marrow from the Raven’s clan now moving on to greener shores?!”
She did not respond. Her eyes looking to the crowd that gathered. The people they were leaving behind. She caught Valka on the far side of the settlement. Shrewd eyes watching. Her words whispering even now in Eivor’s ears.
‘Do not let your hunger for glory steal all that you hold dear, Wolf-Kissed.’
Did she hunger for glory?
She handed her bag down into the ship.
“I did not take you for a coward on top of being a soul stealer, Wolf-kissed.”
Eivor stopped, his words making heat rise up into her body. It burned and bit like flames up her spine. She stiffened and turned.
What she saw as she did left her both shocked and immensely proud. Randvi had dropped her travel pack and walked straight up to the idiot. The savage kick to his knee brought him toppling down to her level. Her fist met his face with such a resounding blow that the block head was knocked unconscious by it. She kicked dirt onto him and gazed at the crowd with her bloody fist still clenched. Shoulders squared, center of gravity dropped, feet planted. A beautiful example of the perfect fighting stance.
“Anyone else want to disparage my wife’s honor?” She asked in a thick warning growl.
When no one moved, or challenged her she turned to pick up her dropped bag.
Eivor raised her fist and cheered. Breaking the tense silence. Her crew behind her cheered right along with her.
“I thought this was going to be without blood letting.” Eivor teased, as she caught Randvi’s hand to look at it.
“Consider it a sacrifice to wiser gods.” She growled, and then hissed as Eivor placed a kiss upon her already discoloring hand.
“I love you.” Eivor crooned, helping her wife into the boat. She hand her gently down to Eilif.
Eilif picked Randvi up by her hips, setting her down onto the deck of the boat and pulled her into an embrace, her brow meeting Randvi’s “God’s thank you Randvi-wise-fox.”
Eivor slipped into the boat and bid them cast off. Her eyes going to find the man who had been her father longer than her real dad had.
Styrbjorn gave a sad but proud smile to Eivor, and to her relief, raised his hand bidding her farewell.
She returned it. A silent sign that neither left with hard feelings.
“God Randvi, I am going to have to spin a song just for you, layer out of giants.”
Holger clapped her on the arm.
Someone snickered. “Only now you notice?”
From the shore Dag’s voice followed them out. The man having managed to find his senses before they were out of the fjord.
“GO WOLF-KISSED! LEAVE! LIKE YOU ALWAYS DO!”
They were nothing to her. She pulled Randvi into her arms and kissed her, deeply, soundly. She knew what her wife had done. A triumphant cheer was the final insult to the defeated Dag as they left, the perfect answer to his scurrilous lies.
Simonson takes a lot of pages out of Claremont’s book where he does a lot of slow buildup over a lot of books instead of trying to fit a whole big story in just one or two books.

The door to Eilif’s cozy home swung open, so hard that it rattled in the hinges. His wince quickly turned into a deadly sneer as the blonde elf stumbled inside.
“One would think the most deadly creature in the land would have a more lavish home. Not this rundown thing” the tailed elf ran his hand along a shelf that contained various spices. “Ugh I could never, that’s for sure. You really are living like a recluse! You really should be more social. It’s good for you, you know? You can’t talk to fish all day” Sigurd sighed dramatically as he turned his blue eyes to the water elf.
Eilif’s nails dug into the palm of his hand and he nearly shattered the glass in his other. How dared that imbecile intrude his home and start demanding things? “I am not talking to fish all day. Watch your tongue. And can you really be talking when one of your residence’s are underground?” he spat as he glared daggers at the other elf.
Sigurd scoffed “Well at least my residence is a bit more homey. This place truly is dark and gloomy. And anyways this isn’t the reason for my visit”. He sauntered towards the dining table where the black haired man sat. He pulled the chair out, purposely dragging it hard across the floor so it would leave marks. The shrieking sound made Eilif clench his teeth as he wanted nothing more than to slap the living shit out of the pest opposite of him.
“Than what is it? I don’t have all day.”
“Oh, but you do” he chuckled. “Okay anyway. I was going for one of my little strolls, you know the ones I go one every single day. Well a few days ago, early in the morning, I encountered a young woman. I don’t really care about humans in less I want do something fun. That day was however not one of those days so I opted to only say hi, she greeted my back and it was as if all the stars from the sky had some together to create the most magnificent being. When I tell you she was beautiful, you better know I mean it. Her beauty was like no others, unique in the best way. I have followed her every single day since that and I think she might have enchanted me” when he stopped his little rambled he looked away in the distance through the window, with starry eyes.
Eilif rose his eyebrow in disbelief. “You came all the way to tell me about your little crush? That’s pathetic even for you” he rolled his green-yellow eyes.
Sigurd’s expression fell and his mouth turned downwards in a sour manner. “I think you would like her as well. But since you have that attitude, I shall take her for myself. I wanted to be a good friend, but it seemed that I overestimated our friendship” the chair scratched against the wooden floor as the tall man rose to his feet. He turned on his heel and walked to the door with long strides, his long hair swished behind him.
Eilif groaned. “Ugh for fucks sake, wait!” in the blink of an eye he stood in front of the door, blocking the way. “If she really is that great, take me to her. I suppose a little excitement in my tranquil life would be good.”
A smile stretched across the Sigurd’s face, revealing his fangs. His sky blue eyes lit up and he was back to his jovial mood. “That’s what I wanted to hear! I knew you would change your mind!” he placed his big hands on the taller man’s shoulder and shook him.
He sighed. Of course, he should have known the sly pest only put in a saddened face just to change his mind. He cursed himself inwardly for falling for the younger elf’s obvious manipulation. “You damned pest.”
The sun was high in the sky, warming his pale skin. His black hair had gotten a green shine underneath the sun rays. The elf’s tail beside him was no where to be seen as he made it disappear to blend in better with the humans. Eilif himself didn’t need to do such things as he already almost seemed human. Even if the humans could see right through them, neither of them needed to worry. Humans were such weak beings that it would take no effort to tear them apart.
Bird calls mixed together into a symphony that carried with the wind through the path. The gravel scraped under their shoes and Eilif found the sound almost soothing. It had been awhile since he last sat foot on human land. A woman that was out on a run with her dog, greeted them hello as she crossed paths with them. Sigurd responded to her with a singsong voice, but he remained silent. Over his long life he had become a “grumpy recluse” (Sigurd’s words) and he didn’t feel the need to speak to humans in less he had to. He was above them in the food chain, so why would he? He could see Sigurd rolling his eyes in his peripheral vision.
After hours of walking they had come to a stop. “Here it is. She is normally on her daily walk at this hour” the blonde elf nodded towards a rather cozy neighbourhood.
“It looks empty” Eilif groaned. If Sigurd was pulling another truck on him, he would tear his hair straight of his scalp. The blonde was after all extremely found of his hair and took great care of it.
“Ugh, I thought you had more patience than that. I thought I was the impatient one?” he groaned.
“What would you do if I scared her away? Or if I devoured her?” Eilif gave him a sinister smirk.
Sigurd’s face contorted into a furious look. “I would kill you.”
“Ha! I would like to see you try.”
“Do not test me. It is not wise to underestimate me, Nøkken” his voice was low and bitter.
Eilif snared at the use of the name the humans had given him. “You truly are ignorant. Not that I would expect anything else from you.”
“Shut up!” Sigurd wheezed.
“How dare you tell me to-” his words died on his tongue.
There, a few meters from them were you. You had came from the forest, most likely from a one of the hiking trails that were scattered around the area. You looked like a goddess, the wind rustling your hair. Your eyes widened at the sight of Sigurd and your lips pulled back in a sweet smile.
Eilif heart jumped as it quickened its beat. His eyes fell open as if they were scared to even miss a millisecond of you.
“Hi Sigurd! Are you two also out on a walk in the nice weather?” you waved your hand. Your voice was melodic and brought Eilif a sense of calm.
“Hi [Name]! It’s nice to see you! We’re indeed” he returned your smile. He was like a changed man. If he didn’t know any better he would have sworn his pupils had turned into hearts.
You turn to Eilif and extend your hand. “I don’t think we have met” he grips your hand. It’s so soft and a lot small than his slender hand. His long fingers curl and your hand as he gives you a firm, but not too firm squeeze. “I’m [Name]” you introduce yourself as you return his squeeze. “It’s nice to meet you.”
“I’m Eilif. It’s nice to meet you as well” he returns your gentle smile.
You and Sigurd fell into a pleasant conversation. Eilif responded when he was spoken to, but other than that he remained silent. Observing. It doesn’t take long before he tunes out the conversation. He is content with only looking at you. He knew what Sigurd meant, you are truly captivating. A hungry feeling washes over him. It isn’t like the hunger he is used to, no he isn’t craving flesh. This feeling is deeper, rawer. It hurts. Something more primal within him awakens. He needed you. There is no other option. The conversation halts and you and the blonde elf turns to him, waiting for his answer to a question he hasn’t heard.
“I’m sorry?” he breaks out from his train of thought.
“I was just asking if you two maybe wanted to go home to me and have a barbecue? Sigurd and I have talked about it for a while, but my grill haven’t been working. But yesterday I bought a new one” you smile.
Eilif just looks at you for a few long seconds. You are so naive. Inviting the two most dangerous creatures to your home? You must have a death wish. He doesn’t say any of that, and just nods. “I would love to. Barbecue is something I rarely indulge in, but it does sound rather tempting” his lips widens into a smile. His predatory side buzzing with excitement.
“I’m all in. It sounds delicious” Sigurd chimed in. He sent Eilif a knowing smile. He had seen right through him. Eilif gazed at him, they seemed to be in the same page.
“Take a seat wherever you want. I just need to get the food” you gestured to the sofa on your terrace. Your garden was small, but cozy. Flowers where blooming everywhere making it seem like straight out from a fairytale. The sofa was in the shade which was something Eilif was grateful for as the sun had given him a slight headache. The beige sofa was soft and comfortable as he elegantly took a seat. Sigurd was a bit more uncaring as he plopped down. You had set the glass table with white plates with floral prints and with matching glasses. The napkins had purple flower motifs that would almost be a shame to ruin. The warmth from the lit gas grill warmed the air and the smell of steak and hot dogs filled the air.
“She’s quite amazing, isn’t she?” Sigurd broke the silence.
“She is indeed. I understand now what you meant” he replied.
“I guess we are on the same wavelength then?” Sigurd turned to face him. His hand was lazily slung over the back rest of the sofa, the other fidgeted with a fork.
“That we are” Eilif nodded. No more words were needed.
“That’s what I thought” a smile crept across his lips before he burst into laughter.
You sat down a bowl of lettuce. “What are you talking about?” you tilted your head in curiosity.
“Oh, not much really. We just discovered we had the same idea… It’s interesting how similar friends think, right?” Sigurd put the fork down as he sat up in his seat. He was looking up at you with a mischievous smile.
“I suppose you are right…” you laughed in light confusion. “Oh I suppose dinner is ready” you hurried to the grill.
Sigurd nodded at Eilif, which rose from his seat silently. He stalked towards you as a wolf stalked a helpless lamb. You didn’t notice him behind you before it was all too late. As you turned around to face him, he had forced his magic onto you and into your head. Green magic clung to your mind making you slump unconsciously into his awaiting arms. He wrapped his pale arms around you as he picked you up just like human a groom did his bride. “This was all too easy. I almost feel bad” he sighed as he nuzzled his mouth against your neck. He inhaled your scent and he sighed in content. You smelled so good, it was surreal.
“Don’t feel bad. We are doing her a favour, are we not? Humans are despicable beings. Rotten to the core. We are saving her, protecting her for the others” a pale hand pushes a few stands of hair from your face.
“I’m glad we agree on that. I must admit that I am glad you showed her to me” his fingers gently strokes your cheek. You would be happy with them and safe. You might need a little push, but he was determined.

Trivia: Eilif is based on the Norwegian mythical creature: Nøkken (Nicker in English). Nøkken is a creature that loves in waters (preferably in lakes or rivers) and his favourite diet consists of humans or animals. He can take the form of a beautiful man who is seen playing the fiddle or harp, a stunning white horse or a more demonic form that looks like a monster. Nøkken is in the “family” with kelpies, but they are not the same.
He lures his victims to the water either by singing, playing the fiddle or harp, but sometimes he drags them underwater without luring them. If you call him by name, he loses his power over you. If he screams, it is a warning that a human is going to drown in the near future. Nøkken is especially dangerous after sunset.
When he has the form of a beautiful white horse, he will drown those who sits on his back, but if they manages to put a bridle on him, they will be saved.
Every year Nøkken needs an offering (a human drowning). The victim is either decided by fate or Nøkken himself. Even if the victim is saved from the drowning, the first time, they will not get away from their doom. The victim will get extremely thirsty and will ask for water. When they drink, they will die.
