Do you think you would have liked Bella and Edward's child more if it would have been a boy? I kind think I would because than there would most likely been no imprint. I still would not have liked the idea or anything, but I think the imprinting really made me dislike the vampire baby.

I might have.  No imprint would have been a big plus and I also think—given SM’s very conservative views on gender—that with a boy the characters probably wouldn’t have been so gaga over it?  I don’t know, I feel like because Renesmee was a girl it was all princesses and sweetness and sunshine and Rosalie brushing her hair and Alice dressing her up, but if it had been Edward Jacob we might have gotten a kid with more personality rather than an object to be worshiped.  I mean look at how she writes the werewolves—they are loud and fun and energetic.  And they are sort of based on growing up with her brothers, so I think with Edward Jacob she might have written him inspired by her own three sons.   Whereas Renesmee isn’t based on anyone or anything, she’s the perfect ideal of girly sweetness that I personally found really off-putting and fake.  IDK.  I think it would have been easier to swallow but I still don’t like the pregnancy idea over all.
