So I’ve been feeling pretty burnt out recently but also still wanting to do creative stuff, just not the stuff that I actually need to work on, lol. And so here’s a Philza Minecraft because I wanted to draw somebody I don’t normally draw!

in my headcanons, elytrians like Philza here have freaking huge wings because they need to catch the super light and thin End air. Then, in the Overworld where the air is thicker, they are SUPERB flyers. Can practically launch themselves into the air with just one flap! 😃 -Imagine

Elytrian Lifecycle Concept

First post! Messy elytrian lifecycle concept. Their lifecycle works more like insects than birds. Females tend to lay three eggs at a time. The first one to hatch into a larvae usually eats the others. This is expected and a cultural norm as elytrians tend to have a very warlike and violent culture. They then attach to the elongated feathers of their mother’s chest and grow into a pupa, emerging as an imago. Larvae are not considered to have feelings by the majority, but this is still a controversial topic. This info is subject to change.

Elytrians

Elytrians are a sentient, semi-humanoid species native to the Outer End. They are capable of extended gliding and can jump extremely high.

Physical Appearance

Elytrians are humanoid in structure, but have segmented joints and are partially covered by an insect-like carapace. Their silvery bug-like wings are shed annually, and the shed wings are used to make Elytra. Their segmented legs are structured in a way that allows them to leap incredibly high, where they can then utilize their wings to glide over the Void from island to island. Their organs are designed to handle low-oxygen environments like the End, and they do not do well in the Overworld. Their primary food source is chorus fruit, but they can digest most plants.

The Elytra that can be crafted from Elytrian sheds are highly prized items, rare and valuable. They are extremely useful for avians with feather mutations such as Silkie, whose natural wings are not enough to maintain true flight without aid, as well as for giving lighter species the ability to glide and travel long distances with the aid of rockets.

History

Elytrians are few and far between now, but in the past they were creators of great cities of Purpur and Endstone, and mechanical marvels in the forms of airships. It is unknown why their numbers declined so drastically, or why they abandoned their cities to the Shulkers and Enderfolk. In modern times, they are typically nomads, traveling in small groups and utilizing their sheds to craft Elytra to trade with other species.

I plan on doing more of these! Like this one, they probably won’t be the exact same powers as in the actual origins mod. Currently the next one I plan on doing is the Avian! I may also put together effect/power sets for how these redesigned origins would be implemented into the mod, but I’m no coder so there are currently no plans for an actual mod or origins datapack adding these- sorry to disappoint anyone who was hoping for these to exist ingame.
