HEAVY SPOILERS. I always tag #endgame spoilers, so make sure to block that if you haven’t
1. THE FIRST 20 MINS
Expectations? Chuck them out the window. They weren’t kidding when they said all promotional material came from the first 20 mins!!! I loved how they got right into the thick of things, cameras blazing, completely no nonsense. And CAROL omg. Also I did NOT expect Thanos’ death to be, Just Like That.
2. The Time Jump.
Very, very smart move. I liked everything about the time jump. It lets us view the event with a lens of a world shattered, a world that has had the chance to come to its senses and reel from the catastrophe.
Although it might have other implications for FFH (like, how the hell is Ned still in Peter's class if he survived? Unless the entire decathlon team got dusted together, which, hey, kinda depressing but like they say, People who decathlon together, Dust together!)
3. Intro of Thor and Clint
The cinematographic shift, including atmosphere and music, was a bit jarring, but I quite liked it. And Korg and Meek! Just hanging out
Although I’m curious, why didn’t y’all give Thor body hair? He’s got a wild beard, a dadbod with a beerbelly... He ought to have a hairy chest/stomach! Same with Clint. That japanese dude Clint killed was still speaking after his throat got slit. Wut.
4. Scott Lang.
Just. Every joke he made. Fantastic.
But also I did not expect to shed my first tear at his and Cassie’s reunion. That was great.
5. Morgan. Tony and Morgan. Tony and Peter’s photo.
Domestic Tony. So soft. AND THAT PHOTO WAS HIS. In HIS HOUSE. FRAMED. I REALLY wish we got more but that moment was very powerful. Still, I was unsatisfied. I wanted Tony to cry. I wanted Morgan to also know about Peter. Basically I want more canonical proof of Irondad Spiderson. Like, listen, this is the one loss that haunts Tony to this day. Peter’s death was the kind of pain that made Tony terrified of going again, for fear of losing Morgan.
6. THE NYC SCENE.
ALL of it. From Tony the security guard, to him talking shit about his own deodorant, to him giving himself a cardiac arrest to cause a diversion and being like this is fine, nothing to see here. And Hulk vs stairs. And STEEB. OMG STEEB. “Hail Hydra.“ “I’ve got visuals on Loki.” “I can do this all da--“ “Yeah. I know. I know.“
“Bucky... Is... ALIVE“
And butt jokes. So many Steve buttjokes. I don’t ship stony, but that is the closest y’all will get to a stony suggestive scene.
ALSO LOKI just yeeting himself outta there. That’s ma boi!
7. Frigga and Thor.
Nuff said. Mama Frigga is the best.
8. Tony and Howard.
It’s really great how adorable Tony was throughout this scene. And... while Howard was NOT redeemed, it’s nice to know he did love his son. And it’s great that Tony got some closure.
9. Peggy and Steve.
Out of the Big Three’s scenes with their “significant past people”, this one was the least impactful for me, as they didn’t even talk, BUT in retrospect it set the scene for later perfectly.
10. Gamora saves the day!
This is GREAT and showcases her character very well, who she really is despite who Thanos raised her to be.
11. Clint and Natasha
Their friendship was on full display during this film. Their scenes. And how it was all platonic. The entire audience knew, as soon as they landed on Vormir, that one of them wasn’t going to make it.
12. Just, Natasha in general.
She’s really been allowed to SHINE in this film. ScarJo is finally allowed to act! Like, thank god. About time she snapped out of her resting impassive smirkface. I love the humanity we got to see out of Natasha as a result. And her heading the command center for a post-Snap Avengers is very apt for her.
13. THE BIG 3 FIGHT THANOS
There are many, many things to love here. But Thor wielding both weapons was amazing, them teaming up their powers with lightning and Tony’s tech, and STEEB with MJOLNIR allowed him to perform SO many cool tricks. Like playing vibranium squash with the shield. So fluid. That fight scene was something else.
14. THE ENTRANCE OF THE HEROES
Assembling for the final fight. I didn’t like how it turned into a slugfest (again), but that moment of hope when Sam hails Steve... Damn.
15. MY BABY BOY PETER
So proud of him. The way he flips in, and is instantly like Woah this is a Big Fight!! How we focus on him for a large part of the battle. How he’s running through the field with the gauntlet, and people all around him coming to help him.
16. Carol’s entrance.
She singlehandedly destroyed that purple grape’s hopes and shat all over his precious spaceship. That’s our girl!
17. “Hey Peter Parker. Got something for me?”
CAROL. CArol listen. You are his mom now. That’s how it works with that damn kid. That’s how he ended up with a whole fucking team of parents.
It be like that sometimes.
18. The LADIES of MARVEL
THEY ARE AMAZING. I fully expect a gifset when the bluray is out. Every one of them. Also the way they gathered around Peter, so soft yet so badass at the same time!
Also RESCUE. OMG. PEPP. And the battlefield fighting side by side with Tony.
19. The passing on of mantles
Steve to Sam (SO glad he didnt get passed over for bucky), Thor to Valkyrie, and Tony to Pepper. These are their legacies. And they’re very skillfully done.
I forgot to add that Steve’s choice to remain in the past and grow old is an EXTREMELY tasteful move. It completes his character arc, fulfilled his dreams from back during the CA First Avenger, and eases him out of the main picture without giving us more heartbreak. It’s sad, yes, but the kind of sad that is also laced with contentment and happiness. This is what he deserves.
20. Tony’s send-off.
His death. I was glad Pepper was the last one there, to tell him it’s okay, they’ll be fine, he can let go.
AND PETER. Peter was there, trying to talk to him, sobbing and breaking down. This is what I wanted, going in, if Tony were to die. And this is what I got. You just know this is going to haunt him in FFH.
And Tony himself. His immense sacrifice, the moment he knew what he had to do, the moment Strange held up that finger. One way. UGH.
I have to admit I wanted Peter to also be there when they’re playing back Tony’s recording. I like how they otherwise didn’t miss a single member of the IronFam, though, like Rhodey, Happy, Pepper, Morgan, they’re all there. But still, Peter should’ve been.
Also, how could I forget, Harley. He totally had every right to be attending that funeral. And it shows how Tony kept in contact with him.
Okay so I know I should be grateful that my boi Steve survived and all, but I’m kinda pissed off. I am a hardcore Stucky shipper but still appreciate Peggy as his first love and stuff cuz she’s a badass and Steve’s a raging bisexual. I did like their romance; HOWEVER, I genuinely don’t think that Steven Grant Rogers would abandon his friends, ESPECIALLY BUCKY to go live a happy life with Peggy. She was married with kids and that wouldn’t be morally right of him to interrupt. Sure, go dance with her, have your moment, but if anyone knows right from wrong, it’s Steve, and it would be unfair to take her children away.
The reason we all thought he’d die is because Steve isn’t the type of guy to quit and just retire. Similarly to TFA, he’d probably kill himself trying to save everyone else. I was relieved that it didn’t end that way, but it was still so out of character for him. I want Steve to have a happy ending where he can just be happy and safe, but we all know he’d never let that happen.
AND HE FUCKING LEAVES BUCKY BEHIND! I MEAN THE WHOLE PREMISE OF CIVIL WAR WAS THAT BUCKY WAS HIS TOP PRIORITY EVER AND NOW HE’S JUST GONNA ABANDON HIM? That doesn’t sit well with me. I appreciate Falcon as the new Cap because he’s the new generation. War vet, good intentions, everything Steve was with the serum. And Bucky’s been through enough, he deserves a little vacation without the pressure of such a title. If he was going to go back to be with Peggy, AT LEAST TAKE BUCKY WITH! HE WAS OUT OF TIME TOO AND IT COULD UNDO ALL THE HORRIBLE THINGS THAT HAPPENED TO HIM!

Avengers: Endgame at first viewing- hell at first step out of the theater - is an action packed, blow your mind, blend of time travel shenanigans and lovely nostalgia that leaves you aching for more...but some things just don’t add up.
It’s got all the stops - humor, love, satisfaction, and surprise - majority of which in the incredible culminating battle where not only does Steve Rogers lift mjolnir and wield him ( holy shit???) but also Tony Stark makes the ultimate sacrifice.
It was a nice finish to his longggg story arc in my opinion. Tony Stark was the beginning, yeah. He deserved the grand send off, but he seemed the most “in character” out of every damn person in this movie ... and there were like a lot of beloved characters in this movie...but one ending won’t leave me alone.
Steve Rogers
I walked out of the theater confused, and somewhat satisfied, but now I’m just mad. The ending was beautiful, like they did it in a good “see it once and don’t think about it ever again or it’ll not make sense at all’ kinda way. The dance and the kiss between Steve and Peggy was bittersweet but ultimately, it was horribly OOC and didn’t make sense??? in what world would Steven Grant Rogers take the selfish road and abandon what he’s built in the future - what the past like fucking 6 movies have instilled into his character- and just leave to be with Peggy. Who they buried in civil war and steve got the chance to move on from because he legit three seconds later made out with HER NIECE but okay Russo’s sure. I think it’s great that Steve started the support group post snap , but then he just talks about Peggy?? and not the mass of friends - family - he lost in the snap?? like that doesn’t even make sense , it boggles my flipping mind. Also just disregard the entire time travel thing set up in Endgame bc sure it made sense in the beginning but then they screwed that up with the Steve’s scene in the end too. So he made an alternate reality where he could live his life with Peggy but that doesn’t mean he would catch up with the post battle reality he left in the first place??? don’t forget that Peggy also went on to have a life, a husband and children, as a badass founder of SHIELD like did Steve just selfishly take that from her???? ALSO u can legit beat me with a bat if u think Steve Rogers would leave his best friend Bucky Barnes - whom all of his fuking movies have been centered around -to be tortured and used by the hands of Hydra for 70 years while he plays house???? excuse me no. Bucky did know what Steve planned to do, but also who the fuck thinks Steve would just leave after all that. Sure, Bucky doesn’t need steve. they can live without each other, make their own decisions, but it doesn’t make sense to leave it open ended. Leave their arc unsatisfied. All of the Cap movies built up to Steve and Bucky, and in the end they don’t even get to relax?? Don’t get to know each other after all the shit that’s happened to them?? Sure, Russo’s yeah that makes sense.
FINALLY I’m happy Sam got the shield, he’s gonna be amazing as Cap and that was the only good thing that happened out of that.
Avengers: Endgame was enjoyable if you look at it out of the corner of your eye and laugh at all the right moments.
It had good parts, hell yeah it had good parts, but does that make up for the bad shit?? Idk man.
I'm gonna be honest. Endgame was not as epic as I expected.
It had beautiful scenes and some characters were good and it was fun to see stuff from some time ago, like after the battle of NY. But they did a lot of characters dirty.
They made Thor one big joke just because Ragnarok did well, it seemed. He was not the person we saw in Infinity war or at the end of Ragnarok.
Steve, he went back and lived a happy life and while that's great for him, it erases who he is. He let the world burn around him as he ignored the problems he knew were going on and most importantly he left Bucky, something it's established he would never, see CA:CW.
Meanwhile Tony died, something I'll never get over, and I feel it was more for shock factor than because it was necessary. If anyone deserved a happy ending after he risked everything for something be build it was Tony.
It was heartbreaking, but he didn't deserve it and it would be so good for his character to wield those stones and live, because he is strong and good. And then he could feel like he did enough and could give up the mantle, maybe pass it down to Harley.
They also screwed themselves over with the timeline. Like all Peters friends had to be dusted for Spiderman Far From Home to be accurate.
And a good thing about the Guardians of the Galaxy was the team dynamic, which they also fucked over by the new Gamora and introducing Thor just for comedy and internal conflict.
Beside that they never explain how everything just went back even though half missed five years and a lot of buildings were unusable and destroyed.
It was still a good movie, but I feel like it could have been so much better and it just wasn't how I pictured the end of such an amazing, wonderful, long an epic journey.
Things I liked/disliked About Endgame (Obviously, spoilers)
I need somewhere to rant so here we go.
Liked:
- All that sweet sweet pepperony content.
- Every Tony/Nebula scene.
- Captain Marvel being the one to rescue Tony (actually, all the captain marvel scenes).
- Every moment Natasha was on screen. The budapest references, her fucking sweet as fuck relationship with Clint. What a fucking icon we stan black widow. That cute forehead touch. A really genuinely sweet male/female platonic relationship.
- Nat, Bruce and Tony sitting on that desk making up master plans together.
- Rhodey proposing they go back in time and kill baby Thanos.
- Rhodey in general.
- Pepper in the Rescue suit (hazzah!)
- All the marvel ladies gathering together.
- Scarlet Witch kicking Thanos’ ass. You get him sweetie.
- Not in anyway acknowledging Nat and Bruce’s romantic past.
- All the easter eggs during the time travel. Actually everything during the time travel, especially hulk going down the stairs. Oh, and America’s Ass.
- Tony getting closure with his dad and Thor getting closure with his mom.
- I mean pretty much the entire end battle sequence.
- MORGAN STARK.
- Soft Tony and Peter hug.
- Gamora coming back in any shape or form (hey, at least she’s not dead man)
- The ancient one. God bless that was good.
Disliked:
- Thor’s arch. They could have done something really interesting with his depression, alcoholism and PTSD (like iron man 3, which was life changing for me to see a hero deal with anxiety on screen) and instead they treated it like a joke and undid two movies of fantastic character development after the subpar development that the dark world and ultron did. Oh, and on this note, not giving him his fucking brother back. He deserved at least that much after all they put him through, like.
- I’d like to say, again, NOT bringing back Loki.
- Hulk’s arch. I just... did not enjoy it. It was weird man. The parts I liked hulk the most was when they went back in time and we got to see cute baby hulk. That was not the way to develop that character, man. Bruce Banner and Hulk are so good as separate characters. All we wanted was to watch him bust out of the hulkbuster armour not turn into professor hulk and wear tshirts.
- Killing Nat and Tony. Even though both were actually so well done and I couldn’t have asked for better deaths it still bummed me out and I dont watch superhero movies to be bummed out. I want a little angst and then a happy ending. If I want to watch all my faves die I’ll go watch game of thrones. I watch superhero movies to feel hope, to feel like a little kid, and feel like I can do anything if these heroes can save the world.
- “till the end of the line” steve ditching bucky in a world where he has like... no friends except for his frenemy sam wilson so he can homewreck in an alternate timeline. I mean I still dig the last dance scene because cute but he was just like... byeeee buckyyy. This movie did a lot of justice to small relationships and nods (like wanda/clint) but somehow forgot how much steve loved bucky. Not enough justice was done for that (gay) relationship.
- the fact that they like... totally could have gone back in time and brought past versions of Tony and Nat into the present exactly like what happened with Gamora. Like yes it would create alternate timelines but I mean that’s already happening with 2014 Gamora appearing now and Steve staying back with Peggy. It wouldn’t effect their own timeline. Steve could have gone to a version of Tony before the battle and been like ‘yo dude... I need you to come back with me you are dead in our timeline and if I bring you with me you get to live a happy life with your wife and daughter, do you trust me?’ cute full circle moment.
