Kimono Maker: Kumiko Yuno/ 柚野 久美子
“By incorporating landscapes such as mangrove forests, the landscape of the capital of Bioko Island, and towering mountains and volcanoes, we reflected the diverse nature of Equatorial Guinea, which consists of archipelago and continental areas. As a basis for taking banana leaves, we have put together a gorgeous collection of birds such as kingfishers, butterflies, flowers, and ethnic patterns as accents.”[1]
Obi Maker: Kaori Shinkai/ 新海 佳織
“Based on the color of the national flag, we focused on the hexagram in the national emblem, and layered it on the hemp leaf, which is a Japanese pattern, to create a hand-woven work of Hakata Ori that was conscious of the color and shape of the national flag.” [1]
