It's been a month since you and your dragon became the first of Eragon and Saphira's 'real' students. Despite your long-standing friendship with Eragon, and insistence on accompanying him away from Alagaesia, magic always seemed far away, indistinct. It hadn't crossed your mind for a second that a dragon egg may hatch for you. Honestly, it didn't click until your newly hatched soul mate bit the shit out of your hand when you almost dropped her.
If anyone's gedwëy ignasia would be a bite mark, it would be yours. Poor fortune followed you like flies do cattle. At least, that's what Eragon said. You'd grown closer, since that day you'd come sprinting into his tent in a wild panic, tiny lilac dragon in hand.
Now, you both sit on the bank of a river. Saphira is enjoy the cool water, and snapping up what fish she can find. Vranfëon, your dragon, is the size of a dog and lounges across your lap, her scales patterned like dappled sunlight. Since she first hatched she's only grown more beautiful. Originally, she looked pale, almost sickly. Now, she gleamed like opal in the afternoon sun, pleasantly warmed and tired from swimming.
Eragon and you both are in your small clothes. Both of you crawled up the banks only ten minutes earlier to dry off in the sun before returning to your duties. You roll out your neck, before shifting your gaze down to your dragon. How had this happened? From strangers to souls intertwined. Unwilling to feed her ego you ensure she's asleep before whispering, "She's beautiful." As much to yourself as to your friend sitting next to you.
Birds sing around you, sun beams through lush trees, water rushes by in cheerful tones in the river and still the only thing you find beauty in is this little thing. Well, one of the only things. Eragon is not how you remember him, he looks more elven. Especially now, eyes closed and face upturned to catch the sun. Cast in golden light, his features looked refined, elegant, almost, and he'd grown into a strange sort of grace.
His eyes open slightly; he's already looking at you. "She is," he holds your gaze, and you get the sense he is not talking about your dragon.

"Night Thoughts" Eragon x Reader
(A/N: Woo! I don't usually do comfort fics specifically. So this was interesting.

Sleep had come so easily for you. No need to toss endlessly.
Safe from both night chills and loneliness snuggled within a large nest. Indoors and content to be so. Saphira's nest had enough room for her, Eragon, and yourself. Eragon curled against her warm belly and you tucked into his side.
A pleasant position to fall into a near dreamless sleep.
Dreams had a way of slipping away before the conscious mind nabbed them for inspection. Yet the feelings they involved could stick with you. Lingering at the edges of your mind without a clear reason why.
Eragon couple prompts
This is a bit of a self-indulgent post, but here are some couple prompts for Eragon, as you all voted for hehe
Eragon is an early bird. Thanks to him being raised on a farm, and now being an elf that doesn't really sleep anymore, he's up either with or before sunrise.
His partner, however, is very much not a morning person. They will sleep until noon if they are not woken up, So Eragon will usually wake them about 2 or 3 hours after he woke up. He'd gently slide back into bed after doing the rimgar and washing himself, kissing his partner gently to wake them.
In the event they will not wake up, or try to ignore him, Eragon will simply lift them out of bed and threaten to dunk their head in the wash basin. (And he will.)
Eragon's partner crowning themselves his personal stylist, on occasion putting together outfits for him that compliment Saphira. (His partner and him often match, too.) Eragon does not mind, he's not one that bothers himself too much with clothes unless there's a special occasion. That is, until his partner starts talking about jewelry for Saphira.
Eragon's partner who's an artist, spending days painting around Mt. Arngor. Eragon looks on in wonder and curiosity as they paint the tiny details on their canvas.
Eragon arranges for them to have their own painting room, as his quarters are slowly being overtaken with sketches, canvas, paints and countless brushes.
Eragon, Saphira and his partner having long philosophical discussions about life, love and art.
Eragon's partner being a novice in swordfighting, and while Eragon tries his best to instruct them, both get incredibly distracted by each other, the lesson ending in failure, yet it's a successful date nonetheless~
Eragon's partner building quite the reputations for themselves for being quick witted and not afraid to open their mouth. They and Eragon make quite the pair, but it also causes a bit of friction, when the couple disagrees, both too stubborn to back down.

Pronouns Series
So this is my pronouns series! So this is where I'll use specific pronouns for the reader (ex: e/em/eirs, xe/xem/xyr, fae/faer, ze/zem/zer/zers, etc.) I will use any pronouns (even xenogender pronouns, and neopronouns) and I will use more than one pronoun for the reader as well if wanted! (Ex: she/they/he, he/she, xe/they/he, fae/ze/he/they, etc.)
Anyone can request with the reader having certain pronouns or a certain gender (ex: genderflux, genderfluid, bigender, pangender, etc.) and all genders and pronouns are welcome!
The point of this series is to be inclusive and to normalize characters who use pronouns outside of the 'traditional' ones, or having a gender outside the binary! It's also to normalize the different genders out there, or having pronouns like he/him and still being a girl!
