Win a Date Chapter 69 Every Sunset
“Perfect.” He thinks as he plans where to propose. The ring, white gold with diamonds halfway around the band, is securely tucked in his pocket. Now it is just waiting.
“Jamie, will you give me a clue in where we are going?” she trusts him but the blindfolded car trip is a bit over the top.
“Sorry my love. I can’t.”
After a twenty minute trip, he pulls up. Hurrying out, he opens her door and takes her hand, helping her out, still blindfolded. She holds tight to him as they walk. Her other senses are more acute and she smells water, picks up the feel of it, against her skin. He leads her over to a chair and eases her down. He removed the blindfold as he kneels before her.
They are at a small table by a loch. She looks across the water and her breath catches. The sun, a red ball of fire, is just setting, spreading it’s flames over the water.
“Claire, I want to spend every sunset and sunrise with you. You are who I want on my arm at the premier of every movie, at every red carpet, every picture taken. I long to fill your belly with our bairns, to have the joy and challenge of raising them with you. I want to tuck your first grey hair behind your ear and tell you how beautiful you will always be to me. To wake up and fall asleep beside you as long as I draw breath. Claire Elizabeth Beauchamp, will you marry me?”
“Yes. God Jamie, yes.” He slips the ring box out and opens it. “Oh!” a soft exhalation at seeing it. His shaky hands lift it out and onto her finger. “It’s beautiful Jamie. Stunning.”
“Needed to match the lass who would be wearing it.” She looks down at it with teary eyes. “Oh I love you. Should have said that earlier.”
“You did with every word. I love you too baby. So bloody much.” They kiss as the sun seems to sink into the water.
