I wish I wasn’t completely self taught. I was only taught elementary school level math and language , I didn’t grow up being taught history and science , I’ve had to self teach myself everything since I was 10, now I feel like a god damn failure in college. Deconstructing the "god-shaped hole"

No one is born with a god-shaped hole.

It is created by harmful ideology.

I was told that I would never be enough without the Christian god and that I would experience inescapable longing until I could finally be in his presence. I was told that my connection with him was the most important of my life, that no other connection could possibly compare. I was told if I tried to fill the “god-shaped hole” with anything else I would remain hollow.

But I wasn’t born with a god-shaped hole. I was born full of curiosity and longing for a full life. Then I was systematically discouraged from seeking a fulfilling life outside of his reach.

After I stopped reinforcing the "god-shaped hole" on a daily basis, I began to heal. It was a wound created to keep me hurt and unable to leave. And leaving was hard, but oh so worth it!

DO you remember the old trend of Ask the Artist! and the artist doodled answers! Yes it is this. Except there is little theme. The goal is for me to feel less stuck as a toxic perfectionist that doesn't attempt things for fear of failure and judgement. Feel free to challenge that with me!

What should you ask me? Well I would say anything because I am a relatively open book, but let's lay down some ground rules. We can have serious questions or silly questions.

I absolutely do not mind Religious or Spiritual Questions my page welcomes deconstructing and questions for I feel that it has been in the silence and hiding of knowledge that has caused much ignorance and hate towards other belief systems. In fact it is one of my favorite discussions even when sparking controversy. However, I am not here to go belittle specific people or have dead end discussions. Christians are welcome it is just asked not to proselytize my guests in comments.

I am also open to correction for misinformation as there is misinformation rampant out there, but I will clarify if that was truly misinformation and fact check it myself.
