Also now that I’m done being starstruck, my own race went pretty well! To clarify just in case it wasn’t obvious, this was a huge race with multiple start waves so like. I was not on the course at the same time as Olympians lmao. Just got to be right there at the awards ceremony.
My marathon is next week so the timing wasn’t super convenient, but it’s a lottery entry so when I got in I was like, I have to do this! I basically ended up using this as my final pre-race long run and a dress rehearsal for marathon day. I got to practice my fueling and pacing strategies, and I’m feeling confident about both heading into race week. Also while this was not my fastest consecutive 10 miles, it was my fastest 10 mile chip time so. I don’t really know if it counts, but not bad for a race I wasn’t actively going all out for.
And this is SO petty, but I witnessed an instance of instant karma mid race where a guy threw his empty gel packet on the ground—and immediately dropped his phone 👀
And sorta unrelated, but being in DC made me miss Fallout 3, so I booted it up when I got home only to realize I was in the middle of Mothership Zeta 😑 I ended up finishing it, but I was so tired afterward I didn’t feel like playing anymore so. Not the post-apocalyptic DC experience I was hoping for. Especially since I annoyed my family all weekend by yelling ‘this was in fallout’ every time we passed a landmark. I can’t remember why I paused this playthrough in the first place, probably because the aliens were so annoying tbh. But I kinda wanna pick it up again, even though I’m still in the middle of Dragon Age. Idk, we’ll see I guess!
