In that childhood time when happiness was innate and universal, something bigger (something insurmountable) got in the way.
I was almost happy, if I don't take unhappiness into account. I almost had a normal childhood, removing abnormality from the equation. I was almost a child, had I not grown up.
It cuts my heart to see the children who were victims of war, who lost their parents, their siblings, their friends, their home, their play space. I realize now that in my unhappiness, I was "fortunate" to be less unhappy.
To measure our degree of (in)happiness, we just have to put the situations in perspective.
