Day one of drawing Nights at the Circus fanart until it gets the fandom and more importantly the respect it deserves
The clock coughed up the prolegomena to its chime and then rang out the prelude to the hour. When the wind suddenly seized hold of Fevvers' hair, tugged it from its pin and sent it flying over the sullen river in a wide, flaxen arc, he half expected her to unfurl too, all scarlet, crimson plumage, and clasping her tiny charge, her daughter, her mother, to her bosom, to whirl away up through the low ceiling of cloud, up and off.
Angela Carter, Nights at the Circus
I’ve started reading Angela Carters ‘Nights at the Circus’ and friends.. I’ve got goosewomen on the mind
its kind of insane to me that more people don’t bring up angela carter in casual conversation. like every day i struggle not to quote nights at the circus bc who would understand me
My friend made me some home made salve to sort out my gammy hands. I did this as a thank you. It's "Fevvers" the Reubenesque bacon sandwich eating Angel from Angela Carter's "Nights At The Circus" one of my favourite books and characters. #angel #nightsatthecircus #angelacarter #fevvers (at Sheffield)
Shot a Christmas video message for the great grands tonight and oh my goodness June. #apples #corn #fevvers #turkey

‘Fevvers Fall’ at Bitches and Banter.
‘Fevvers Fall’ is a pop up theatrical installation, which uses live bodies to examine the buying and selling of the female image throughout history. The performers take on the role of 'winged women’; a common Victorian circus 'Freak’, who had constructed wings brutally attached to the body. Using imagery from history such as painted women and forgiving angels the piece explores the dichotomy between the 'virgin/whore’ archetypes typically and persistently attributed to women.
The title was inspired by Angela Carters Nights at the Circus, a glorious piece of fiction with magical realism and powerful women at its core. It traverses the lines between reality and fantasy to such a precarious extent that the reader is left struggling to define any sort of objective reality.
This is no objective reality dear readers.
This piece was conceived and created by Megan Reid, Katrine Turner and Lily Ann Sinclair for the Night Fair’s ‘Bitches and Banter’ exhibition.
