"The Brain in the Heptadome" I should note is a jarswap au fic (what if Bob got thrown in the ice instead of Helmut)
also none of these are finished, but that's never stopped a fic from being good before :) I like them all each brings a little something different to the table
Teen | No Archive Warnings Apply | James Potter/Tom Riddle Sr., Harry Potter/Tom Riddle|Voldemort | 9,656 Words
Tags: Alternate Universe - Modern Setting, Alternate Universe - Non-Magical, Single Parents, Bachelor Auction, Humor, Rivals to Lovers, Implied Sexual Content, Himbo James Potter
Summary:
"Mr Riddle," James said unwillingly, a bland smile of his own plastered on his face. "I was just telling Tom here that I would love to stay for tea, but I'm afraid I must be on my way. Very important appointment."
"Of course," Riddle demurred, folding his hands in front of him. "We wouldn't want to keep you, would we?" He turned to the boys, who had gone curiously quiet. "It's always a pleasure to have Harry with us for an evening, when you are otherwise occupied with these... important appointments."
Oh, how James dearly wished to be twenty years younger and able to excuse punching someone in the face as a folly of youth.

James Potter adamantly refuses to lose to Tom Riddle Senior when it comes to anything—being the best single father, driving the most expensive cars, or being the most generous charity donor—which is how he finds himself signing up for a bachelor auction at his son's school.
But as time goes on, James begins to ask himself a very important question: why does Riddle seem content to let this competition go without a fight?

I disembarked from my boat to America several hours ago, and I’m glad to finally have the peace and quiet to write my thoughts down.
Otto picked me up with a car I didn’t recognize, an old rusty truck. He didn’t tell me why, but my guess is he realized his own car would turn everyone’s heads, which he usually enjoys, but he knew I just wanted to get to the park and rest after the week long voyage.
When we got here he introduced me to Ford, the park ranger who began this project last year, and it was nice. We all had dinner together and he’s a friendly fellow, though I could tell he was a little unfocused, with this daydreamy look in his eyes. I'm surprised, when Otto wrote to me he spoke of him as being a boisterous and motivated man. Maybe he was tired like I am.
The tent they set up for me while they expand the living quarters is a little uncomfortable, but I’ve survived worse. As I was settling in though, Otto butted in and said he meant to give me something earlier, and handed a little blue book to me. It’s one you’re reading right now, if you’re a nosy nelly who wants to read a girl’s diary that is! I’ll know if you did, I can read minds! ;-)
Don’t worry though, I’m not actually mad.
Chances are you won’t actually see anything too spicy anyways. Otto referred to this as a scientific journal, and said it will be good to keep detailed records of our research for the future generations who might want to better understand our methods and results. He’s even the one who wrote the little label on the front interior page.
Full disclosure, I think that this is a very formal way of writing. I will probably not be keeping up the pretenses, but I will do the necessary record keeping. I know he’s playing into my interests in storytelling and writing, and it’s working. I’ve never committed to a scientific endeavor of this scale, and I’ll still be settling down from my move to America for a while yet, but I intend to fully pull my weight despite the learning curves. It is like my Mama told the troupe, the weak link breaks the chain!
Hello, back on bullshit: When the Sneezing Powder was first made, who got their brain sneezed out?
My best answer is I really like the fic Bless Youuu-chooo!! where it's explained as Otto and Bob's little combo experiement gone wrong, with the powder being made from potent plant pollens
