First Rite Spring 2016
Rite of Acceptance ( RCIA )
so today was my first rite as i enter the catholic church...as planned i arrived 30 minutes before the 9:30 mass was to begin having no idea where to go so i followed another RCIA member into the church. we walked into the social hall and there was alittle table with all the other RCIA attendees and our sponsors and we checked in. i started shaking and twitching i was so nervous haha. they told all the candidates(baptized person) and their sponsors to sit down in the pews while the catechumen(unbaptized person) stood just inside the church with our sponsors. mass started and we sang and prayed then the priest came to the back of the church and asked each of us “ child what is your name? “ and what do you ask of gods church? “ and i thought i was going to pass out. but as soon as it was my turn to speak i felt such a sense of calm, like i could fall asleep. he asked us to follow him to the front of the church and turn to face our sponsors. then the sponsors blessed us with the sign of the cross. over our heads, over our ears, over our eyes, over our mouths, over our hearts, and over our feet and our hands a few of us ended up crying because it was their first time meeting their sponsors and they were overwhelmed with the thought of a complete stranger humbling themselves at our feet giving so much of their time and effort to make sure we felt at home with the church and with GOD. our sponsors placed a little wooden cross around our necks and the remaining candidates came from the pews to the front to join us. then the priest brought us the word of the lord and told us to place our hands upon it and i felt lightning flow through my body but i stayed at peace. and one of the candidates placed her hand on my back and rubbed my back. ( she later told me she had no idea i wasn't baptized and felt so much closer to me now and i felt so much calmer as she did because it reminded me that even though my sponsor had gone back in his pew i wasn't alone my other RCIA members, my priest, my church, everyone was their for me. placing their hand on my back. holding me and pushing me foreword.

Pictures from my formal rite/dedication to Hekate. I learned a lot from that experience... the biggest being I am not a formal ritual sort of witch who gets benefit from calling corners and casting a circle and using elaborate incantations. I did it in earnest, though, and my Goddess met with me there. It was a powerful experience... it amazes me looking at these pictures and thinking how much I have grown since then. It hasn't even been a year yet. She is good to those she has chosen )●(
