How to Attract People to Your Profile in 3 Steps

It may be 2019 but you still have that same old 2018 profile. It was created out of confusion and maybe even frustration but hey, new year, new profile. If you want to know how to make your profile stand out, don’t worry, we got you covered.

Firstly, when it comes to appearance, try to stay away from pictures that are super blurry. That’s a huge issue. The person swiping should be able to see you clearly. If you wouldn’t post it to Instagram, then why would you post it on your dating profile?

Second, avoid ALL your pictures being with friends or family. This profile is about YOU! This isn’t a profile about your friends and certainly not your family.  Post some cool solo shots and watch your matches increase!

Lastly, why not spice up your bio with a witty phrase or comment? I think we all get sick of this height/age monotony. Try something creative or funny, add a joke or a phrase that means a lot to you. Your bio is your chance to show people who you are, don’t take it for granted!

Make sure your profile is able to start a conversation, let it be funny, interesting, and, hopefully, get you a date!

Meet-up Apps: From Sketchy to Simple

It can be frustrating trying to figure out where you want to meet up with your match, and planning what you guys want to do. I have first-hand experience, and I know there are probably several others who’ve been in similar situations.

After matching with a guy online and hitting it off, we added each other on Snapchat and got to talking even more. So for your viewing pleasure, I recreated our conversation:

I don’t know about you, but if I’m meeting someone for the first time, I’d like to meet up somewhere in public just in case. How do I know this person I’ve only messaged a bit isn’t a catfish and/or an axe-murderer? Ya just don’t know.

Types of Ghosting

Dating has become one of the most complicated and exhausting events out there. With the good comes the bad, and on the bad end of the spectrum, you can find ghosting. But it doesn’t end with just simple ghosting. There are now different ways to ghost someone and here they are.

Ghosting: Your classic, basic ghosting. This is where it all began. You find yourself texting someone you’re interested in and then next thing you know they disappear. No texts. No calls. Nothing. It’s as if they never were.

Slow Fade: This isn’t your typical ghosting where they drop off the face of the Earth. Less texting, doesn’t initiate, seems uninterested. The person slowly phases themselves out of your life. 

Zombie-ing: Zombie-ing is what it sounds like. After ghosting someone, a person will come back into your life and try to start things up again. They acknowledge their absence and hope to reignite the spark.

Submarining: This is similar to zombie-ing except for one factor. This person will ghost you and then pop back up acting like nothing happened. No admittance for ghosting you.

Haunting: Haunting happens when a person ghosts, but then continues to be active on your social media, liking pictures, or tweets, without actually reaching out to you.

Breadcrumbing: Quite similar to haunting, breadcrumbing is when a person isn’t super interested in you but continues to lead you on. They leave little tiny bits to keep you hanging on. Liking your posts but never really texting you.

Passive ghosting: This type of ghosting doesn’t seem like ghosting at all. The person still texts you, but the response is lacking. You get one-word answers or very vague responses. It seems like they’re not interested and yet they still text back.    

Benching: The person still seems to have an interest in you, but they haven’t really committed. You’re basically on the sidelines watching and waiting for your time to shine.

Moving is no fun. If only sitting on the couch watching tv was exercise then we’d all be the most built people in the world. Alas, that isn’t the case so let’s get our butts up and do some fun stuff.

1. Take the stairs

Trust me, I’m always breathing heavy even when it’s just one flight, but I’ll soon be just like Rocky, right?

2. Park further away

This is probably one of the worst things in the world, but it’s okay because I believe in you.

3. Go for walks

It’s a lot more fun than it sounds. You can discover new places and see new things.

4. Pace while on the phone

Have you been put on hold for longer than you thought was legal? Take advantage and pace around the house while you wait.

5. Use Foobee

5 Quick ways to get better at networking!

Networking can be one of the most nerve-wracking things to do, but in the long run, it proves to be life-changing. The only way to become an expert at it is with constant practice, but if you need to up your game in a pinch follow these 5 rules to go from shmo to pro.

1.) Don’t play loose and fast with your business cards.

There’s always that one person who is aggressively throwing around their business card to every person they meet. Instead, after having a conversation ask for their card first and then hand them yours.

2.) Don’t lead with “What do you do?”

Rather than going straight into this obvious question, delve into something deeper to leave a lasting impression. Ask about the person themselves and try to find commonalities.

3.) Give first without expecting anything in return.

A sincere gesture without looking for something in return is a sure-fire way to gain a person’s interest.

4.) Ask “why should they care?”

The only way to engage people in conversation about your business or self is to show them how you would be of value to them. Such as “I help people to…

5.) Listen more than talk

The only way to truly learn about another person is to allow them to speak their mind. With this, you can better connect.
