...to try and forgive yourself for atleast one mistake that you made in the past.

it may have been a big mistake, something that probably even broke someone's heart or trust or something that cost you dearly. but it's time to let it go and free your conscience of that burden.

beating yourself up for it isn't a way to learn from the mistake. be sure that you're aware of what went wrong and how you can avoid it in the future and then let your conscience be at ease.
