HOW TO MAKE FRIENDS IN FRANCE?

I'm in france now but ngl it's kind of lonely. My flatmate is lit and I really like her. We get on well. But I haven't made any other friends and I'm not particularly 'in' with the other exchange students. We dont vibe lol. And that's fine that's life. Just fyi, there isn't a lot of exchange students since I'm going to a small uni.

I wanna know if any french uni students/students who went to a french uni have any advice on making friends... particularly with French students (my french isn't amazing lol) cause there isn't exactly any societies like in the UK.

I spent half of the day playing Sims 4 with my mother because I let her borrow my laptop to play and I was too lazy to tell I her I needed to work. But... I FINALLY finished a very bothersome assignment- it’s been submitted. Yay! I was so focused my coffee got cold..

French Learning App Recommendation!

Hi everyone, I haven't been active here for the last month. This is because I haven't been active in language learning in my real life due to personal reasons. But I came back with an amazing app recommendation!

The app's name is Learn French with Le Monde. As far as I know Le Monde is a famous newspaper in France. We use it in class to review news with our teacher. The app has a one week free trial. You get access to the classes daily after your free trial. I haven't bought the premium version yet. But I'm planning to after my trial ends.

I think you need to know basic A1 level French in order to use it more efficiently. In the app you listen a video and answer questions according to the video. You can choose the vocabulary you don't know and they'll show you the meanings in a sentence with Fr/Ca pronunciation. It also ends with a cultural movie/song/tv series reference that is commonly known in France.

The app also has a page in the correction page where they'll you about the historical figures and other cultural stuff you may not know but has appeared in the lesson. Also a bonus: It is available in both English and French. But I think if your phone language is French the app will appear in French. I personally think it is very useful for listening and grammar and also makes you review everything!

It has a section where you can choose Spicy (includes adult stuff but not like +18 😅 this is language learning app) Non spicy (kid friendly) version.

I say give it a chance! This is definitely not an ad since I only have like a hundred followers and don't know anyone from Le Monde. I personally love and use the app and I recommend it to everyone who wants to learn French.

1. Learn French (now in my consideration is the Grammar, but I work as well on vocabulary)

2. Preparation for Master (150 pages of the theoretical book is left and I hope to finish it till tomorrow)

3. Read a book instead of socializing (now it’s Anna Frank’s diary in German but I read as well some other books)

For all the French learners: I love listening to the Transfert podcasts by Slate. It’s about crazy/interesting stories that happened to some people. If you are at a good level in French, you should be able to understand what they are saying. It’s really helpful to improve your listening skills.

For all the French people: The stories are really interesting (well, not all of them but almost all of them haha) and you should give them a try! :)

ok listen, i am well aware that these might be the grainiest pictures you’ve ever seen. it’s the night lighting at its worst.

but i finally started on my french notes!!! i think my issue is, i was trying to start from the beginning, when i’ve already taken 2+ years. the basics were slowing me down, when all i need to do is lay heavy on my verb conjugations, grammar, and sentence formation. i know enough words to have a decent conversation if i can remember the verbs i need + the forms they need to be in!!! so let the self studies commence....
