🫧 | fugin musume
the original story of the fuji musume dance has changed since its debut, but the format has ultimately remained the same. a woman (or spirit of the wisteria) dons a lacquer hat conveying her beliefs on love, while performing four costume changes live on stage, behind the trunk of a Wisteria tree. though most performances are whimsical, others have more supernatural themes.
