Question: what do you think about Yosano and Mori's relationship in BSD Gakuen? They seem to get along a lot better than they do in Bungo proper so I thought I'd ask

Author Mori and Yosano were close friends in real life, so I’m not surprised. I think the atmosphere in Gakuen is lighter hence they get along. The reason Asagiri portrayed Yosano and Mori’s relationship that way in the manga is due to their contrasting positions and opposing views on war. Perhaps not completely opposing if you look underneath the surface.

I do think their relationship would have been much better if they had not met during wartime, or if they had not been ability users. Personally I enjoy seeing them interact in Gakuen especially Yosano’s sharp remarks (Author Mori actually appreciated her defiance and independence even praising her for it). I heard he once saved Yosano from a serious illness and she described him as a talented doctor. It’s quite endearing to see Mori praised in that way, especially as a doctor, because people often forget how skilled he was even during the war.

I’m not sure what else to say. I think it is fictionalized and dramatized, but perhaps it still reflects the authors more closely in some ways?
