My newest AU (based on Community):
In another reality, Zarkon was Altean and Alfor was Galra. Alfor took over the universe and all the main universe paladins are Galra, 10,000 years after Altea was destroyed. But in this timeline, Zarkon destroyed Voltron. Permanently.
When General Pidge Gunderson (aka half-Galra Katie Holt) works with Evil!Slav to create a rip in space in order to access the other timelines, she reports to the Galra Princess Allura. Allura sends her fiercest warrior, the once Blade member Takashi Shirogane who fought in the gladiator arena before intensive “reprogramming,” her best sniper, Lance, her most talented engineer and the Galra’s chief weapons designer, Hunk, and her betrothed, Keith, to aid Pidge in the mission to retrieve Voltron from another reality.
First, as they cross through the rift, the stabilizers they had in place break, stranding them in a foreign universe. Then, they have the unfortunate experience of meeting Main Universe!Slav. But that’s not the worst of it. An explosion occurs in their ships quintessence drive and they’re separated throughout the universe.
Galra!Pidge ends up captured by Voltron when they intercept her signal before her crew does. And to her dismay Shiro turns out to be super hot when he’s not a nearly mindless pawn driven by bloodlust. To make it worse, Human!Hunk suggests they give Galra!Pidge a name to differentiate her from Human!Pidge, which Shiro promptly decides should be “Katie Cat” - a reference to her large, plush purple ears.
Galra!Hunk finds himself in a trading port. It’s very big and very odd, and the aliens there, not understanding that humans can’t shapeshift to change their coloration and appearances slightly, mistake them for their hero. He’s pushed into a cooking show and makes a recipe that kills 54% of carbon-based life forms when consumed. He’s promptly run off stage.
Galra!Shiro lands on the Green Lion’s planet. The sloth like alien there, mistaking him for the man that was obviously the Green Paladin’s boyfriend, lets him sit in his water raft all day and honestly, Shiro has lost his appetite for blood, what with all the trans-reality business. He gets to finally rest.
Galra!Keith actually nearly runs into Voltron, only ducking out of the paladins’s line of sight as they pass down a busy street. He sees Allura with them and despite being her fiancé, he’s frankly terrified of her. In any universe. Krolia finds him, figures out what’s going on, and decides that hey, if she had to miss out on her son’s childhood she may as well get to teach this version of him important life lessons. Like not being evil.
Galra!Lance gets one of the better deals. He ends up on a planet full of non-binary aliens that have the appearance of gorgeous females. There are no men except for him and they find his masculine appearance fascinating. The only issue? While Human!Lance has a decent level of attraction toward females, Galra!Lance is 100% no question about it Gay.
And this is the story of how the Paladins of the Darkest Timeline learned the friendship of magic. Or some unpleasant and un-Galra-like business in that vein.
